New York summer accommodation

Hi folks, i'm hoping a few NY'ers in the know may be able to help me out. I'm going to NY in August for a few weeks, possibly for the entire month. Are there any NY'ers on here who could point me in the right direction in terms of getting reasonably affordable accommodation for the duration of the stay?

Classifieds, reputable websites etc. would be a great help.

Um,what type of accommodations are you looking for?
You could rent an apartment.
I was going to give you the link to fodor's.com but they seem to be down at the moment but they have a good forum and those folks are pretty informed on such accommodations.
Also you could try http://lonelyplanet.com/, they seem to have a lot of younger folks on there.
