In an editorial for CBS affiliate WKBT-TV in La Crosse, Wisc., Livingston read the cruel letter that blamed the anchor for her lack of "community responsibility" because she was obese.

"Obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make and one of the most dangerous habits to maintain," the sender wrote. "I leave you this note hoping that you'll reconsider your responsibility as a local public personality to present and promote a healthy lifestyle."

I'm glad she had the intestinal fortitude to talk about this on the air.

I'd like to see what size that dude is.

I agree with most of what she says, and am glad she had the courage to send the message she is sending. Good for her.

I disagree, however, with her characterizing this as "bullying." An offensive letter sent to a journalist from one crazed viewer is not bullying. Journalists get abusive correspondence all the time, about things like their appearance, race and gender.

Yeah, she probably does get stuff often, just wanted to call the dude out. No one ever gets called out because of anonymity.

Damn, she made that boy squeel like a pig.. What a punk that guy is

Bullied? Where the hell is the bullying? This is the type ******** I hate when it comes to some people. Yeah you shouldn't be cruel to people because they're fat, but you don't deserve any sympathy for someone saying that your obesity is a bad example for kids. The guy may have gone overboard with it, but it's not like he straight up called her any horrible names. She is overweight, and he feels that it's a bad example for kids. I disagree with him on that, but he made it in an articulate manner while she pulled the bullying card. A grown ass woman at that. She doesn't have thick skin at all. She's just looking for sympathy instead of losing any weight herself. As a fat person in the process of losing weight now it pisses me off seeing people jump to her defense saying that it's nobody's business that she's fat. True, but why can't she lose weight? I've lost 30 pounds now, and it feel fantastic to attack a problem that I've had for over a decade in being fat. I'm still fat, but the progress feels great. That's what we need to be focusing on. Prove the guy wrong and make an example by pledging to lose weight and do it. I see so many people losing weight these days that there's no reason why she can't.

I cant say I disagree with all that,,, she really just could of ignored this guy.. Geeze 30 pounds! Nice job man..

Agreed. There are times its worth calling a bully out. This is not one of them. This should probably have just been ignored, along with all the other unpleasant correspondence that I'm sure they receive. She may have wrapped this up in an anti-bullying statement and as a message to kids, but she made this about her, and by acknowleding this guy, she has essentially legitimized and broadcast his behavior. She should have just ignored his letter.

Thanks.:yay:

I'm still fat though. lol My plan is to lose 50, but I'll adjust that accordingly to whatever my body feels best at. I've been slowing up a bit since I picked up more work at the job, but that's still no excuse. I get whatever I can in, and people like this lady annoy me. It's not like being fat is a disease you can't change. It's something that happens because of the choices you make.

The news anchor victimized herself. She claims to have thick skin yet she felt she had to call him out on live television to get sympathy about her weight. I'm not condemning her on being obese, but obesity is a problem in this country. Though I will say that the email was completely unnecessary, it wasn't sent with malicious intent either.

With that said, I wouldn't have sent her that email because it wasn't like she was going to be like "Oh my God, you're absolutely right. I should quit my job and focus on losing weight!" She is a news anchor. It ain't my ass out there reporting the news, so I wouldn't be hating on her. Still, the fact remains that obesity isn't something people should be sweeping under the rug. Invest in the longevity of your life.

He typed all of this while making 3 sandwiches.

I think they're club sandwiches, so you know the difficulty level is higher.

I kind of agree.

I didn't see this video and think "wow, how brave and inspiring", I watched this video and though "U mad, bro" (not literally, but you know what I mean)

It came off as someone who got upset about being called a name, legitimized the person making the remarks, thus giving him what he wanted, and basically whining about it.

I mean, her weight is nobody else's business, but to respond to it instead of just ignoring it, you turned a non-issue into an issue, gave the person making the remarks a legitimacy that they don't deserve, and made yourself look like a victim, a martyr, instead of this noble, inspiring figure you tried to be.

I'm going to "bully" Wolf Blitzer now: I'm going to send him a private e-mail saying his beard is ugly.

Last week, I bullied Larry King by making a joke on the Wrestling Thread about him being old enough to live in the Roman Empire.

The point, which a lot of people are missing, is not that she "was complaining" or "whining". The letter said that she needed to be a good role model for the community, and that "looking good" was important for that. She turned that mentality on its head and used the instance to be a good role model by saying how its not good to talk bad/insult other people, that your actions are far more important than your looks.

And her actions have caused her to look obese. Hence why the person felt the need to write her the letter. Not that its any of his business but at the same time, its like your fat dad telling you to eat all your vegetables, it's hard to take seriously. Like any local news station does, they report on health trends and probably do segments on how to live a healthy life. I don't know why he felt to write to her but if I had to wager a guess, that would be it. It's like every PE teacher I ever had growing up. Fat tubs of lard. "Do 20 push ups!" No, you do 20 push ups.

The point is that there's no reason that letter needed to be aired on television in the first place. She basically used this as an opportunity to get up on a soapbox to make herself look good.

She shouldn't be a spokesperson for the overweight. She set all fat people back 50 pounds.

every time i see anything involving fat women i think of Al Bundy
