NEWT (Domestic Release Date: Summer 2011, Disney Digital 3-D(TM))
Pixar Animation Studios
Director: Gary Rydstrom
Producer: Richard Hollander
Writers: Gary Rydstrom, Leslie Caveny

What happens when the last remaining male and female blue-footed newts on the planet are forced together by science to save the species, and they can't stand each other? That's the problem facing Newt and Brooke, heroes of "newt," the Pixar film by seven-time Academy Award® winner for sound Gary Rydstrom, and director of Pixar's Oscar-nominated short, "Lifted." Newt and Brooke embark on a perilous, unpredictable adventure and discover that finding a mate never goes as planned, even when you only have one choice. Love, it turns out, is not a science.

Pixar needs to expand beyond talking animals.

See, I can't wait for this. Very unique concept.

lol..2011?... damn.

This one sounds interesting. I have very strong faith in Pixar, so count me in.

With Cars 2 now scheduled for 2011 it looks like this one has been pushed back to 2012

I thought this was a thread about Newt from Aliens.

Same here. I thought she had some gotten her own spin-off where she didn't really die and was now the new Ripley. :(

This sounds cute. :yay: We don't see them actually mate, do we? o_O

It sounds so unappealing. At the sametime, when Monsters Inc first came out, I thought the same (but it ended up being my favorite Pixar film)

I'm still sad that Pixar is not making this movie. Wonderful concept arts though.

No, Pixar is doing fine. So far they got:
Animals
Cars
Robots
People
Bugs
Monsters
Toys

Looks like it could've been a great animated film but I am still looking forward to Monster's Inc 2 A LOT! The original is classic.

I bummed that they dropped this to make Cars 2. Ugh. Maybe they will make it later on sometime...I think they did the same for Wall-E.

I have a feeling that this will be made someday, just not in the near future.

I would totally be down for newt aliens spin off (as a mid teen) but that *****e fincher killed her off.

Pixar really needs to get out of its safe zone...

no matter how great their movies end up being or how much money they make im never excited about their movies. Incredibles being the exception because it was different than their previous films about animals, monsters, robots, bugs, toys, cars, fish etc. it was about people(though superhuman).
It's getting almost formulaic at this point...
mark my words this movie will have another one of Pixars 5min silent montage scenes too. Id say a cute dumb wacky side character(UP dog,wall-e roach,Cars' junk car.etc)too but that seems obvious already.

I would disagree about Pixar and the safe zone. Up and Wall E were a little unexpected in terms of the themes they dealt with.

every pixar movie deals with a different theme...

its how its presented thats become tired.
