Next Assassin's Creed Game Reportedly Set During The Viking Age

There is a lot possible when you look at some features that the series had.
You could send people on raids and missions like in brotherhood, establishing trade routes could work like the conquest in odyssey with Differenz bonuses etc, needing to keep the sea clear or so.

Instead of Findling etc legendary stuff you need to craft it from unique blueprints.
A lot of cool stuff is possible in a viking setting.

Oh no I hated that movie. What was Fassbender thinking? You could just tell from the metal music played over the credits it was going to be sh**.

Is there anything about the Viking life that would make a good mini game type thing? Like origins had the colleseum, black flag had shark fishing etc

Fassbender had just worked with the director on a very good adaption of Macbeth. He no doubt like a number of people expected that director to make an AC film of equal quality.

Same I was so upset when it came out because AC was imo one of the best bets to be the first successful game movie franchise and now it doesn't look likely to get a sequel.

This is director who was to over confident for me. When he could have stepped back and went "Hmmm Altair, Edward Kenway and Ezio all have incredible stories I could adapt and change them enough so that's its not predictable for long time fans but also still faithful to the source material. The only real question is who to pick?"

Instead he went "Na I got this gonna make up my own character because I know what people want better, and screw calling him Desmond im changing it to Callum just for the lolz"

What irritates me even more is there is supposedly some traction around a sequel and now he wants to do the cold war next.

They should have adapted the first game and crafted a (better) story around it. Assassin's Creed the games don't really have a good story, imo, but a good writer can adapt a game into a film by doing some tweaking.

I reckon if you adapted Desmond but set it in a different era, maybe even have Altair as an after credits sequence, maybe that could have worked. But video game movies are cursed you know

Just saw this and I’m definitely up for Vikings!

Also Ubisoft if there's any way we can get even just one mission wielding Mjolnir (as it turns out to be a piece of Eden) lol

Ha that would be cool. I wonder if they could even have an achievement called assemble or if Disney would kick their ass haha

The farther i get in Odyssey the more i want a viking ac game.

Fighting the mytical creatures, the fully powered powers you have, the weapons...okay naval combat is clunky as hell but opens up a lot and there is fun to be seen, going from one island that has one focus on this god to the next that has another god...it just so much fun this game.

I want that with Vikings, also i do miss the feeling of AC3.
Yeah its not the best game in the series, but the snow covered woods and the feeling of it was just something else.

Yeah I reckon the naval scenes in origins were definitely the most boring but I don’t want them gone entirely. Viking sieges would be fun

I hope they improve the naval combat, I thought Origins and Odyssey were a big step backwards compared to Black Flag in that regard.

It was a lot smoother and quicker in Odyssey. Disable the ship hop aboard kill the crew and loot the chests and jump back to your ship. No load screens, menu screens or pointless animations like Black Flag had. That animation of Edward boarding the Jackdaw or the one of him putting a tricorn on one of his captives got old real quick.

Plus in Odyssey you can put big flamethrowers on the front of your ship!:DV:

I feel like the naval combat is really tedious, either that or im just really bad at it.

Wait? Where do i put a flamethrower on?
I can only shot fire arrows and spears.

I feel like you would have to make some changes for Viking naval battles as I don't believe that Viking ships were traditionally as big as pirate ships.

However more importantly the few accounts of Viking naval warfare there are do not generally take place in the open ocean like previous Assassin's Creed naval missions. Instead they fought in estuaries, inlets and rivers.

You could use this to open up new challenges
  • Destroying Dam's. Taking out dam's that have been built to halt your march to are blocking your way to your targeted location.
  • Killing Look Out Groups. Having to eliminate all the members of a look out group for your targeted location (taking them all out makes the raid easier but if any escape they know you are coming so the difficulty is increased)
  • Claiming a stronghold. Having a major city like York or Paris have a few smaller settlements along the river that are available to capture and beef up your final numbers before attacking the city.

I have hated all the boat stuff in every one of these game except Black Flag.

Black flag was just superb though. A wonderful game. I agree the naval bits haven’t matched since especially in rogue

You get the flamethrowers during the second part of Legacy of the First Blade.

Also have you upgraded your ship all the way?

Ah, well im a bit far away from that because i dont know when in the "timeline" they take place...i just arrived at
Sparta
(The most beautiful place in the whole game so far imo) in terms of the story so i dont know if i should have finished the main story when this DLC happens.

Not yet, i only have two upgrades left for any of the categorys in the ship, but im not too often on the ship and since i avoid battle as often as i can, i havent maxed it out yet...but for the sake of it i will do that sooner or later.

My favorite thing about Odyssey so far is the abilities of the protagonist. I feel I'm playing a superhero game choosing what abilities to assign and I love it. I feel like so far in my playthrough of Ac Odyssey, it'sthe best improvement. So I hope the next game features more of that.

Oh yeah, im loving that too.
I wished there were more but the ones we have are awesome.
Only annoying thing is that the Spartan Kick even fully upgraded, doesnt kick away all enemies.
A lot of the bount hunters, even those who are beneath you sometimes can take the kick without flying away...but i love hitting people and see them getting ragdolled across the map. XD

But those abilities are a cool idea and make the combat a lot more fun because you do have a lot of stuff you can try.

I already can see a Viking AC that lets me summon lightning that hits people all around me. XD

I haven't gotten to the Spartan kick yet as the other abilities are much more helpful. I also haven't activated the bow abilities too.

With Origins, the abilities, i don't really know how to use them like the combat ones and the smoke screen usually popped up randomly and Odyssey made it so much easier to use the abilities and you don't even need to get certain abilities, just to need to reach a certain level to activate a new ability. However it seems like I need to finish 5 side missions to get a new level and I dontthink it shows how many xp do I exactly need for the next level.

It should tell you in the ability menu i think on the right upper corner how much you have and how much are left for a level up.

Leveling up in general feels really nice imo.
You get a decent amount for everything so it doesnt feel like you get too much or too little.
Or maybe that just me, i tend to go through every new island question mark by question mark, on the way doing the missions that pop up.
Its a smooth level up experience for me.
Only thing a bit sad is that there are just 3 levels for every ability and that the final "stage" of upgrading is locked behind the spear upgrade.
So you need to kill half the cultists to have enough fragments to level up the spear and therefore unlock level 3 of the abilitys.

The new island/view point Xps don't seem a lot though. From what I've experienced so far, they are more or less 125 xp compare to a side mission from the msg board that rewards you more than 1,000 xp.

You get exp for pretty much everything, except stealing it seems like.
Finding loot, killing enemies, when you find a new location, completing locations, side missions, board missions and so on.

I dont really look at the amount because its so often that the right corner tells me i got something.

I dont know if that "glitch" still works, but if you knock out a Captain or so and then put crouch and interaction on the same button, you can press the button over and over again to get xp.
Have done that just to try out and it worked fine...but it wasnt really needed since im have found for myself a good balance to go smooth through the game.
You can look it up but i dont know if the thing still works.
