At this point, he's just too damn powerful and unbeatable. You got to whip out kryptonite or Doomsday to stand a chance. The way he ragdolls the entire Justice League, you almost wonder why the rest of them are even needed. A fight with Wonder Woman should be tough...one headbutt and she's out like a light.

The character is unrelatable. No sense of danger with him. It's like watching a video game.

Look at Thor. You could say he's Marvel's Superman (when it comes to strength and power versatlity). But though he's incredibly strong, he's not shown to be virtually unbeatable. He can be knocked unconscious etc.

Taking Superman back to Fleischer power levels is a bit much (they've pretty much done that with Wonder Woman though, and it hasn't hurt her appeal any. She leaps, not flies). But post-crisis John Byrne level at least, where other super-powered heroes and villains can give him a real fight or beat him. And he shouldn't be anywhere near as fast as Flash.

I agree 110%.

I just find the character more appealing when he has to exert himself physically, and when he is vulnerable to more conventional threats. Not every challenge Superman faces is going to be at the level of General Zod or Darkseid, so giving him limitless, indestructible power strips away a lot of drama from his everyday actions. Seeing him effortlessly saving people on a daily basis gets boring to watch after a while.

Pretty much my thought process too while watching the movie. 100% agree!

People tend to forget she was not knocked unconscious by Superman's headbutt, WW even gave it back, plus Superman was super-charged by that Motherbox.

Also, WW is more skilled fighter who can use different weapons, had she used her sword it might have killed Superman (as it is magical) but she was holding back and she was not going to kill him.

I think you can take his power levels down a little but not to much. I have no interest in seeing him be like the Superman from JL and JLU where if he barely gets hit he goes down for the count. I think if you really want to challenge Superman then instead of changing the power levels upgrade the villains. There is other ways to challenge and even beat Superman then by depowering him.

I think the problem was they made Superman's role make everyone else's role seem like they were useless. I like Superman being the most powerful member on the team, but I don't want him to take full credit, and not be portrayed as someone who is 8 gazillion times more powerful than his team members. I'd like the other team members to come off as just slightly less powerful than Superman, but not by a whole lot. Otherwise, it's just like only Superman could have taken down Steppenwolf's army single-handedly.

I think Steppenwolf should have gotten a few licks on him . That would have helped.

It's a sensitive area, for the most part I agree with you. I'd say 90% of it.

On the other hand, he did just come back from the dead... Which I know, is another OP ability of his, nonetheless he was defeated. I think they wanted to show people how powerful he is again after being bested TWICE in the last movie.

However I very much agree that Wolf should have been able to get a few quality shots in on him.

Or upgrade the rest of the league. As it is now their only job will be making sure no ****er has kryptonite.

Should he be depowered, or should the others, heroes and villains alike be upgraded?
These are DC characters, they should all be very powerful.

I think he was like this by design in JL after
He was supercharged by the Motherbox

He doesn't really ragdoll them all though does he? They aren't trying to kill or hurt him they're trying to subdue him & he basically holds his own for about a minute, which is fine, he's supposed to be incredibly strong & powerful.

The issue is not how powerful he is, is how well written the story is, how interesting his struggle is. It doesn't has to be physical always.

On the bright side, it was cool to see this Supes not get tossed around unlike every other DCEU film he's appeared in.

No! I loved his power level in this movie.

100% agree.
Also, can I just say that if he was comparable to Flash in speed in JL then no one should be able to lay a glove on him.
Totally uninteresting if there is no threat because the main protagonist is unbeatable.

Just need something in the middle.

While were at it, Batman's way to smart and methodical. Can we make him a bit dumber so there's more drama with his villians? or does this depowering a character only apply to Superman? lol, good god people.

Just say the power up post-Motherbox was temporary. Nuff said.

Thor was nerves to a certain degree and fans were not all happy about that. The League was not looking to end Supes so everyone was holding back. That the final battle was not as well thought out or choreographed as it could have been doesn't equal Superman needs to be depowered. He's Superman. Being OP is his deal. Given how well received the monument battle was in general I also don't think everyone is in agreement with the idea in the first place. The issue was that after battling WW and AM and showing his New God power and toughness in one on ones earlier I never he movie Whedon made Steppy less physically impressive at the end.

As much as you may not like how weak Steppenwolf looked compared to Superman keep one thing in mind. Although Superman was kicking his ass, he never actually hurt Steppenwolf. If you go back and watch again you'll see that the only person who physically hurt him was Aquaman. He pierced his shoulder with the trident and smacked him in the gob and that was the only time Steppenwolf stumbled to get back up and was grabbing his shoulder in pain. Also it was Wonder Woman who destroyed his axe and made him poop himself with fear. So it wasn't all Superman. People see what they want to see.

Seriously? The Superman Vs JL was not him rag dolling the JL members, it barely lasted a minute with only Superman trying to fight.

In BvS he got ragged dolled by Batman and then had a hard time with Doomsday(when in the comics Superman he held well).

For Gods sake, he is Superman.

Supes' role in the JL finale was perplexing, as it perpetuated every negative surface-level stereotype held against him.

Chiefly, how his powers negates any sense of danger or hurdles which would normally be faced by any other hero. Now of course we know it doesn't have to be that way, but it was just odd to see how Supes practically strolled and literally grinned his way to victory.

The entire point of JL's banding together is ultimately nullified once Supes enters the picture. At least in this presentation.

What? This Superman is puny!

He was completely destroyed by a skinny short 51 year old white guy from Green Bay.

Well Superman did get his ass kicked by batman and killed by doomsday in the previous movie i.e. the character got punked! And after that you people want him to get punked again by a C-level nobody like Steppenwolf?

Superman was overpowered in JL as a form of an apology for his mistreatment in BvS, so for the future they should treat the character with respect from the get go and give him a villain worthy of his time (Darkseid, Parasite, Metallo, Bizarro, Brainiac, Cyborg Superman etc....).
