I thought this might be a fun idea for a thread,
I hope that nobody minds, but I thought that since Samuel L. Jackson has officially signed on to be Nick Fury in his many appearances including a solo franchise that this thread could be Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD central.

Post anything about the movie here, including but not limited to plot, actors, what comic characters to include, and other Nick Fury related things.

Out of all the SHIELD characters presented in Marvel comics you do you think should be used?
What actors should be picked to play those characters?
What should the tone be of the SHIELD movies, what should the plot of the first movie be? Who should the enemy be?
Feel free to construct your own Nick Fury: SHIELD movie.

Of coarse Nick Fury must be in it, and will be played by Sam Jackson

Although I would love it if he grew out his hair and made the sides
of it gray like the original comic version, like Gabe Jones is below.

And I think two other musts are
Timothy "Dum Dum" Dugan who I think should be played by Ted Levine

Gabriel "Gabe" Jones

and Contessa Valentina Allegra di Fontaine

What about other agents: List of S.H.I.E.L.D. members

Do you think its too soon to present Agent Maria Hill?

Not as Director, just an agent? I’d like to see her used even though she wasn’t introduced until recently. She is an interesting character.

What about SWORD agent Agent Abigail Brand? Should she have a cameo?

What about Clay Quartermain, Jimmy Woo, or Jasper Sitwell?

What should SHIELD look like? Should they go all 70s super spy? Should they have tech like flying cars, jet packs, holograms, a flying HQ, and stuff like that?

What about cameos? Should Captain America make cameos in SHIELD movies? what about other characters like Iron Man or Wolverine? Wouldn't a SHIELD movie be almost full of cameos or mention or reference all the other Marvel movies in some way?
Should ever SHIELD Agent have a uniform, all wear the SHIELD symbol?

I'd always thought of Ray Winstone for Dum Dum, but that picture comparison with Levine is pretty convincing.

Nick Fury movie for 2013!

Sooner would be better than later.

As for casting, I am still unsure of who, but nice choices.

Spoilers dealing with the Iron Man movie,
What do you think, based on how they appeared in the Iron Man movie, SHIELD will be like?

This is how they dressed in the movie:

and when going to arrest Stane:

I guess you can reason that they didn't expect much of a challenge in arresting him, so they didn't use any SWAT type armor.

Just thought up some other SHIELD cameos,

Agent Sharon Carter

General Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross

what about Sam Wilson (Falcon) pre-Falcon?

What do you want the tone of the film to be? A big super heroic action movie, a spy thriller, a superhero film?

Should they have the super high tech stuff?

like Life Model Decoy?

The flying SHIELD HQ?

Artistsean, It is too bad that, Marvel went with, The Ultimate Nick Fury, as I feel that...Liam Neeson would have been perfect as Nick. That said, Samuel L. Jackson is the only actor, that would pass muster as Ult. Nick Fury. I hope that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s homebase is the...Helicarrier, Dum Dum Dugan is Fury's right hand man portrayed by John C. Reilly, Scarlett Johansson as...The Black Widow, and Audrey Tautou as...The Wasp, with Chris Evans as Hank Pym, and Travis Van Winkle as...Hawkeye. While in the comics, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are Avengers, it would make sense to make them S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists that Nick Fury wants in...The Avengers.

John C. Reilly would be awesome.
Personally, when I read Nick Fury in the comics, I imagine Gary Sinnise (spelling?)

But Jackson could be good too.
If I could be picky,
I would like him to look like this (his hair anyway):
MoviesNickFury.jpg

and maybe wear something like this,
MoviesNickFury2.jpg

(not my manip) For his solo film I want him to look more like an amalgam of the Ultimate and regular Nick Fury. thats what I mean.

I sort of imagine SHIELD movies can go in several ways,
it could be like a Patriot Games movie, a James Bond movie, a superhero movie (like Iron Man or Spider-Man), maybe a mix of them all.

I think Wasp and Pym would be introduced in the Avengers film, but I agree that a logical introduction for them might be as SHIELD scientists.
But I think Pym is going to be introduced in his own movie, maybe along with Wasp. So maybe they will get a intro more like the comics.

With Tony Stark now familiar with SHIELD, do you think they will be sporting lots of Stark Tech in the film?
And maybe have a cameo from:
iron-man-site-tony-stark.jpg

Maybe all the Marvel characters can cameo here and there.
Have Captain America cameo one film, Stark another,
maybe even Logan. Tie all the Marvel films together.

Sadly, I don't think Fox would allow Marvel to have Logan in a film. Unless some deal was meet.

Thats not true. he's an actor who has like 5 good roles, but is famous because his voice sounds cool yelling at people and saying the Fword.

Hoff isn't Fury either. these 2 are just LMDs.

what Nick Fury is real. are you out of the loop

What do you expect a Nick Fury/SHIELD movie to be like?
a True Lies? a Bourne Supremecy? a James Bond? a Patriot Games?
a Mission Impossible? a Spidser-Man/Iron Man straight up superhero film?
a military movie? a spy movie? a superhero movie?

Artistsean, A Nick Fury film should be like a James Bond/Mission Impossible film where Nick leads S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and his team...Dum Dum Dugan, Countessa Valegra De Fontaine or Black Widow, and a squad of agents against EEEEEvil agencies like HYDRA or A.I.M. who want to take over the earth. The Helicarrier should be featured in the action as well, as it's not some HQ that you only see the inside of. All of S.H.I.E.L.D's tech should be designed by Tony Stark, just like in the comics. Said tech should include Jet Packs, Flying Cars, and LMD's (life model decoys).

Hate the Shaft Nick Fury. I don't like the whole Ultimate Universe deal either, so I guess it goes hand in hand.

I wish we could have had people working at Marvel that thought of Fury being the original, real Nick Fury. IMO.

I don't mind them using the Ultimate Nick Fury (from the comics). In the comics Ultimate Nick was pretty military, would wear uniforms and such. I would prefer him to be an amalgamation of ultimate and regular.
Maybe grow out his hair and have it graying, wear some sort of SHIELD uniform.
Wolverine and the X-men did something similar,
lineup1.jpg

but I also think he NEEDS to be sort of grizzled and a war veteran. Wolverine and the X-men got close to what I wanted (wonder if their character designers heard my please.)
But Fury is also sort of grizzled and mean.

I really liked Garth Ennis's take on him. But, that would't work in the this context :p

How about Gina Torres as Contessa Valentina Allegra de La Fontaine?

gina_torres.jpg

I know she's African-American as opposed to her comic-book counterpart, but so's Samuel L. Jackson so I don't really think it's much of a problem. Besides, she's a great actress who does well with action roles, as can be seen by her work on Firefly as Zoe Wasburne.

I also like Kristen Bell as Sharon Carter, or Katee Sackhoff:

The "Who is Scorpio?" storyline should be incorporated (as well as Steranko-style visuals) but I'm not sure how to cast a black Jake Fury.

While I would love to see scenes like this: holographic like body armor that is either invisible till its hit or forms instantly before impact.

It got me thinking, when they do a solo Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD movie how advanced should their technology be?
Since Tony Stark is meant to be advanced in Science, should SHIELD and Fury have extremely high tech?
Should Fury have LMD robots? Should SHIELD have jet packs? Or should they not have anything so advanced until Stark and Pym start working there?
If they were to show that SHIELD has been operating for a long time and has mind blowing technology then Stark's tech might seem lame or unneccisary, or even not out of the ordinary to see suits of armor flying around.
But maybe they could show that Stark has started supplying SHIELD with some tech, and maybe mention Pym's tech as well. So they could show them have some high tech. Maybe not as advanced as it could be though.

What do you think?

What about Nick Fury and Captain America serving together?
In the comics they served in WWII, in Ultimates they never met until Steve was unfrozen.
They could do the Ultimate rout, have Fury be an average human agent
or
they could introduce the whole Infinity Formula thing. Show that they did serve in WWII together. Then somewhere down the line Fury was subject to the formula causing his age to slow to an almost stop.

Well....since they have established in the Iron Man movie that SHIELD is rather new....they need to be still in a building stage and not be overly advanced with their tech.

Using Sam Jackson as Fury, I don't think you can connect him to anything from WWII. The original Fury character was basicly the leader of a special forces group...and black men were not allowed to that at that time.

yeah, you could have him as a regular soldier who sees Cap in action. And then when The Avengers are coming together he realizes that Cap is the only one who can properly lead them

Also are they really working on a SHIELD and a Nick Fury movie?

I don't easily see that scenerio. Fury should be seen as a man of action and a leader from the beginning. Unfortuantly with the history of the treatment of black soldiers during WWII it makes it hard to show that.

Also are they really working on a SHIELD and a Nick Fury movie?

I think that's part of the package deal he made....a series of cameos as well as a starring role.
