Nicolas Winding Refn's I Walk With The Dead

One of Refn's upcoming projects, I Walk With the Dead, has just received a lead and it's none other than his Drive star Carey Mulligan.

Details about I Walk With the Dead are sparse but apparently the project is yet another genre movie. Here's a quote from Refn about the project:

I’ve always wanted to make a movie with lots of sex,” he told us at the time. “So I wrote this story called, ‘I Walk With the Dead’ and it takes place in Miami and it’s just going to have a lot of sex in it. I have two films that are getting made with French investors and one is ‘Only God Forgives’ and one is ‘I Walk With the Dead.’ ”

As I'm a huge fan of Refn, I'm always up for more movies from him, so count me in for this project.

I was content with Mulligan being in a Refn film even if it's a supporting role but being a lead in another got me excited! I'm happy that this got finance so if Gosling do work with Malick perhaps after Only God Forgives and before Logan's Run then he can do this in the meantime. I wonder what the title has to do with the film though.

Refn Confirms I Walk With The Dead As His Next Film; Eyeing Tokyo & Los Angeles As Possible Settings

"We signed a deal with [producers] Gaumont and, for distribution, Wild Bunch," the director said. "In essence, we make two films for the price of one. The budget for 'Only God Forgives' is $3.5 million. We exceed [that] perhaps a bit, but really not much. The second film is a horror movie...'I Walk With the Dead.' We'll turn to Los Angeles or Tokyo."

Needless to say, I'm excited for this film.

maybe alone with this but i dont see whats so special about carey

she was very boring in Drive

and in never let me go she was also boring and keira knightly out shined her big time

maybe i should see her oscar nomination film an education but as of what i have seen she really has'nt impressed me a whole lot

She wasn't boring in Drive. She played the character perfectly. Maybe you found the character boring.

And do yourself a favour and watch Shame.

Yeah, Mulligan was very subtle in Drive, but never boring. And she was brilliant in Shame and An Education.

I do have to admit though that I laughed at her a bit in Never Let Me Go, but that was just because she was so sincere in her performance even thought the concept of the movie (IMO) was so stupid.

Mulligan isn't too shy away to show her body, you can see her completely naked in Shame for example and the character she played there was so damaged. I'm excited to see what this movie is really about, is it about a nympho? With a slice of criminal underworld? Perhaps ****es? Drugs + ****es.

An Education is still my favorite performance from her. And Never Let Me Go. I love that movie.
