I got this game last week and finally started playing it yesterday (after I finally finished KOTOR after 2 weeks).

I have to say this is one of the most disappointing games I've ever played. The difficulty is rediculous for Normal. The first boss (Murai) rapes if you don't attack after he lunges (I'd like to know how the hell nunchuks can not only block shuriken, but bounce them back at an opponent). Then the second boss is insanely cheap stabbing you with the spear and then tossing you aside. The wizards don't make it any better, nor does the camera. The zeppelin level wasn't bad, but it made me wonder when the hell this game took place (I first thought Medieval Japan, then late 1800's b/c of the Zeppelin, then 2000-something with that metal Jabba the Hutt).

Right now I'm in the town or w/e it is. One thing I despise is if you kill a bunch of enemies, turn around a corner and go back, they've respawned. Give me a break for God's sake. I cannot finish the level since I have no potions remaining at that point and am too poor to buy more (like I can even live long enough to get one).

I really hate that I hate this game. I've always wanted a great ninja game and thought this would be it. Is there something I am missing because I really want to like this game :(

Face it - you suck at Ninja Gaiden. :o

Ninja Gaiden in general is an insanely hard game : /. It's not for the weak-willed, for they might smash a few controllers or a system from anger. It's sort of like DOA4, it's normal setting for the stories is damn hard even when it's supposed to be 'normal'. I don't get why oriental devs think people have fun getting their asses handed to theirselves multiple times trying to beat one boss, but apparently they do.

It's quickly becoming a trait of new J-games.. They may be good games, but they need to turn the difficulty level down just a wee bit. Not everyone created and knows the ends and outs of the game.. nor does everyone have ninja-like reflexes and know how to do kick ass combos as the only means of survival.. disappointing, but it happens.

I can't even wait to see what Spidey-Bat would say when he takes a look at the odds he'll be facing in Mission Mode.

Yes, Ninja Gaiden Black can be unforgivably tough, but when you finally get a good handle on the game, the increased difficulty can only provide the kind of sensory thrills few games have managed to deliver. I still get that amazing rush of adrenaline after seamlessly pulling off an evasive roll at the last second and then breaking to a forward jump right into a continous wall run and then finish with an aerial dash attack all the while two tough bosses are relentlessly and simultaneously attacking you.

Ninja Gaiden is a game that rewards patience. Stick with it and you'll reap the rewards.

Is that **** even possible? If it is, I cannot give up on the game.

I don't see any rewards other than self-satisfaction that I completed one of the cheapest games ever. Call of Duty 2 atleast gives you achievement points for completeing Veteran campaigns.

If I can complete this level, I will definately continue. If not, I'm trading this game back and waiting for the the TMNT game to satisfy my ninja needs.

Everything developed by Team Ninja is made hard.

The funny thing is that Ninja Gaiden Black is much harder than the original Ninja Gaiden. I played the first version of the game and it is reaallllyyy hard. But the good thing is that it makes the game that much more rewarding when you do complete it. The game appeals to a certain kind of gamer. Another game that was pretty tough was Devil May Cry 3.

I hate how they threw in the easy Ninja Dog mode. It's basically an insult to anyone who doesn't want to kill themselves trying to complete a level.

I still think Ninja Gaiden wasn't all that hard

DOA4 was ****ing annoying, though. I counted 34 losses to Alpha-152 before smashing her ****ing cyan jelly big lushious boobies face to the ground

Doesn't Ninja Gaiden Black had an easy difficulty? I've never played Ninja Gaiden Black, but I played Ninja Gaiden, it was sort of tough at times, but nothing too bad.

It has Ninja Dog. You have to die 3 times in the first level and confirm you want to do it. I've read you do nothing ninja like and have pink ribbons on your costume.

I agree on Ninja Gaiden but Black is pretty hard core on the difficulty from what I've hard. It is designed for truly hardcore fans. I think Spidey Bat should've just picked up the original version of Ninja Gaiden it would probalby be a more pleasant experience

I probably should have:( I picked up Black b/c it got better reviews and has more content. I'll probably pick that up. I have to beat NGB though. I think it's time I quit being a pansy and play a game that's challenging.

That's cool  . Black was mainly designed for people who beat the original Gaiden. I was thinking about buying an Xbox 360 in a few weeks. I used to have an Xbox until about a year ago. I actually traded the system in to get a Gamecube because their were some Nintendo games and exclusives I wanted to play (Resident Evil 4 - one of the best video games experiences I have had in years  , Metroid Prime). But the Cube has been dead for the past few months. New games haven't been released in months. I wanted to get a 360 to play Elder Scrolls - Oblivon and some of the other Xbox exclusives. Plus the Xbox is backward capatible with most the games which is a plus because I kept all my games.

Here's a couple of tips that'll hopefully make your run through the game a lot more easier -

1. Upgrade your Dragon Sword to Level 2 the first chance you get, make it your first priority as soon as you have enough essence. You get a lot more proficient combos and the amazing air dash attack which does great damage and tracks enemies from quite a distance.

2. Buy the Izuna drop. It'll make your skirmishes with a lot of the game's lesser enemies a piece of cake.

3. As soon as you reach the city, practice a lot using the nunchaku and learn to string long combos and use the double charge essence attacks - this will let you earn a good amount of essense in a relatively short time. You know the spot near Hans' Bar where you get the Windmill shuriken? See the glowing Xbox near it? It replenishes your health and ninpo for an infinite number of times. Use this opportunity to fight a lot of respawning enemies near the area (and come back to recharge at the glowing Xbox when you're low on health and ninpo) stock up on essence and buy a good amount of elixirs and other assorted items. It may take a while, but it's a very good idea if you can spend the time to get one or two extra Talisman of Rebirth, which you can expend on the game's more tougher bosses later on.

4. Do not waste precious spirit of the devils upgrading useless ninpo like Art of the Fire Wheels and Art of Ice Storm. The best way to go is first making a priority to fully upgrade the Art of Inferno (buy it immediately if you don't have it) before you bother with anything else. It's the most powerful ninpo and very useful against bosses. The next ninpo you should upgrade is Art of the Inazuma because it's best for instantly killing a lot smaller foes simultaneously but doesn't work too good against bosses.

Oh and buy the Armlet of the Sun and have it equipped at all times. You could always use the help of a little extra damage.

5. See those golden scarabs? You better start taking the task of hunting them down a lot more seriously. After you get 20 or more scarabs, the old merchant will give you the excellent Dabilahro - arguably the most powerful weapon in the game once you fully upgrade it. For such a hefty weapon, it's surprisingly fast with multiple hit, circling combos that deal a ****load of damage. It's works great against a lot of the game's tougher foes like the Dragons and some bosses as well.

Just keep these tips in mind and you will be well on your way to becoming a Ninja Master in no time.

I just went through that game eventually and got everything. Once you get to the Imperial Palace with all those fish, it's basically "equip the Vigorian Flails and it's a license for print money". Those fish are hard, but if you can survive each round, it's extremely rewarding.

Also of note: You can go back to EVERY area in the game except the Military Base and the Church before it's... altered. Check back in after it's altered though, it's very worth it. :D Just make sure you keep your eyes open in both areas, and try to reach for areas you may not think reachable.

Yeah, I have so much, I've got seven "I think" magic uses, a full health bar, EVERY weapon fully upgraded (even the training sword-it's worth it) and ALL the scarabs (replete with both classic Ninja Gaidens).

It's pretty cool.

Oh and all of you really should try Ninja Gaiden Black on the 360 and see just how gorgeous it looks in 720p. It freakin' looks better than even the 360 version of Hitman:Blood Money. and Far Cry.

You know the area where Hans Bar is located? When you revisit the area near the end of the game, you'll encounter about six or seven of all those fiend soldiers who crawl like spiders on all four - I whipped out my Vigoorian Flail and manage to gut their asses to oblivion non-stop in a seemingly never-ending 167 hit combo (don't gasp in disbelief, it's very achievable). Woot! :D

I'm making progress now. I managed to get to Han's Bar and got the windmill shuriken. I've already upgraded my Dragon Sword. Most of the other money I've blown on the elixir of life potions since I thought I'd lose health quicker than I thought. I've already picked up 3 or 4 golden scarabs, I probably missed some.

The best thing is the secret Xbox in that area, and once you go up there to refill, they'll regenerate. It's good for combo-practice. :D

Okay, but I think you're just frustrated because it's kicking your ass. I loved it, even though the last boss was one of the easiest in the game.

If you don't go after him right away, and I mean down to the milisecond, he's far more aggressive and far more lethal. Sometimes I get killed by him, othertimes he can not hit me.
