Ninja Gaiden Problem

ok here's the deal. i've been trying to play ninja gaiden on the x360 but it says that it is unable to read the game and needs to be updated on xbox live.now i've read articles and lists stating that ninja gaiden is capable of being played on the 360. so is this a case of misinterpretation or am i unable to play this game until i update it on xbox live(which i don't have)?

If you read the page, you will see that it says you need to download a file to install in your 360 to play the games.
