Have we heard anything about a system to replace the wii? We're pretty certain that there will be a PS4 and I'd be shocked if Microsoft doesn't come up with something considering it's popularity.
Do you think all consules will take part in the wii style of game handeling, or like many have said it's simply too gimickey?

Microsoft has already started working on their next generation system.

I know Sony has patented motion sensing controls. They probably won't have the remote/nunchuck that Nintendo has but something along those lines. I was reading an old EGM I had from a couple of years ago and they did a feature on what gaming would be like in 2030. Motion sensing controls were mentioned but it wasn't that long in detail. They also had an accessory that would produce smells based on the type of levels you're playing, that I could see happening for 2010+. They also had a controller in each hand similiar to the Wii. If the next gen is just going to be more powerful systems with more online its not that exciting.

All we know about Nintendo's next console is that it will support HD.

i wouldn't be surprised if all next-next-gen systems have something similar to the wii-mote, or at least motion sensing controllers... it's really not a bad idea, just not a great idea to base a whole console on, especially if that console is seriously inferior compared to the competition. it simply would have worked better as a gamecube peripheral, or, like how sony has it, where you get a true next gen system, with the option of motion sensing gameplay, if you want to work it into the game somehow.

Hideo Kojima wants to.

Enrich the gaming experience, the visuals, sounds and smells will fuse together.

If you walk by a fire you would smell a smokey wood burning smell. In a bar you would smell beer, racing game you would smell burning rubber, in a forest smell the trees, and it could add to gameplay. In a multiplayer match if an alien smells a certain way you know to avoid the area or in a figthing game you could smell blood. They've mined pretty much all that you could do for video games, smell is left.

Microsoft will probably just emulate the motion sensing controls from PS3 (y'know do what Sony does) but make a more powerful system than PS3...play it safe. It is obvious Nintendo is going to join the HD generation but who knows, they may surprise us again with more than just motion controls, and do expect more refined wii-motes, etc.

I'm really interested to see what Sony will do. Sony and Nintendo are going to be wild cards or Sony needs to be. Microsoft will always play it safe though, but hey it worked this generation though.

Oh great, so my apartment can smell like beer, blood and aliens.:whatever:

The new tech is poket-size, powerful and multifunctional (i.e., smartphones, PDA's, <shudder> iPhone). Two major handheld game systems are already in play. The DS has been named the number one platform in Japan.

I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd say the next-gen systems will double as portable devices, with wireless transmissions to your TV via some sort of media hub (Sony's already got one out) and purely downloaded games (no discs, no moving parts = easy to transport). And I'd be shocked if Nintendo didn't actually lead the pack on this one, given their experience in packing power into shrunken hardware.

-- END!
