No Fantastic Four 3?

SX:

It wasn't only that the humor was corny, done well that can work in the proper context. The movies actually had to much of it that it detracted from the whole tone. That hurt it even more. The FF aren't a comedy skit from SNL.

Story's FF was a comedy with serious undertones not a serious franchise with some comedic elements which is what the comic is like.

I'd love to see an awesome FF film some day, too.

To me the success of Iron Man perfectly showcases what went wrong with FF. For a long time people gave me s*** for criticizing the FF movies like I wanted them to be all dark and cerebral, and they were meant to be "fun". And look at IM, it´s a fun movie, it´s very entertaining, it´s not too dark or too cerebral, but you know what it is, it´s well-done, it´s also serious and intelligent, and it never needs to go down to doing tons of bad sitcom comedy to be "fun". And it was granted decent runtime and budget to tell the story properly and in an exciting way, all that Fox denied FF.

After watching "Iron Man", it got me thinking about how much better the "Fantastic Four" movies would've been had Marvel had more creative control over their products. Unlike "Fantastic Four" and its sequel, "Iron Man" manages to be intelligent (but not too "ceberal" like Ang Lee's "Hulk" movie), funny, thrilling, action-packed, and well-acted (*cough* Jessica Alba *cough*). Here, Tim Story and Tom Rothman (the head honcho over at Fox) insists on treating the audience as if they're stupid. Tom Rothman, under his watch, already messed up "X-Men 3", "Daredevil" as well as the "Fantastic Four" series.

We can definetly say our problem is Fox and none more than Fox.

Both X-men and FF are in bad hands.

Those guys are dumb asses. Why don't they just let the artist actually be artists

I say it's better to let the franchise die for a while. Maybe in a couple of years Marvel can buy back the rights and redo it.

^ i somewhat agree with you.
Im upset, because i love marvel team movies,
but Marvel proved they can redo movies sucessfully,so i think its the best option.

This franchise had so much potential. It's so sad to see how much of it was wasted.

The F4 themselves were true to the comics and if anyone says otherwise, they either just ***** and complain for the hell of it or don't read the comics. Doom wasn't done properly and the look of Galactus wasn't but SS was perfect. :o

I agree somewhat.I did'nt like the way Reed was done.It seems like Reed should have been less timid he should of been a little more demanding,And also The whole Dr.Doom/Reed rivalry seemed weak. That's the one thing I was looking forward to the most.It should have been intense.Like OMG levels of Intense.

I read the comics. The movie versions are jokes in every way compared to them. They belong in Mad TV not a big budget movie.

People complain about it because they're bad movies period.

SS was the only character who was good.

When the guest star is treated much better then the star characters there's a serious problem in a movie franchise.

Fantastic Four should have been done in the tone of Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Where you have a real threat, a villain thats going to stop at nothing to get what they want, but that there is the right amount of humor and its used to punctuate the scene.

but then thats what the Fantastic Four were in the comics

That's why I said anyone who complained about the joking tone of the movies just ***** and complain about shhh becuase the comics of the F4 have always been that way. Even the comics have. The only thing I agree about is Doom, Sue, and Galactus. But the 4 and tone of the movie is straight out the comics.

I feel you and agree also. Reed shouldve been more straight forth......but I don't want to nitpick......cuase honestly I like most of the ROSS movie. It's just that the parts where Doom isn't a cartoon character I can tolerate well.

I would sacrifice a million virgins and a goat to ensure that there is no F3.

FF can be campy, cheesy and has some comedic moments to be sure. But it's not a comedy franchise at all.

People complain because, along with other problems, the jokes all were terribly executed. Incredibles did the humor better then FF did.

The only thing I agree about is Doom, Sue, and Galactus. But the 4 and tone of the movie is straight out the comics.

I've always seen the FF to be closer to the Spider-man films in tone then what the films gave us.

The comics can be campy, cheesy and even funny at times but the franchise was never a comedy. FF isn't The Mask.

People complain since both movies were both done badly. Their humor wasn't even very good, The Incredibles did a much better job of both the comedy aspects and in over all quality as entertainment. It was a better Fantastic Four then the official movies.

The only thing I agree about is Doom, Sue, and Galactus. But the 4 and tone of the movie is straight out the comics.

It was far to light for my liking. It should have been closer to Spider-man in tone.

OMG! Why were my posts deleted again?! WTF! I don't even say or do anything wrong. :cmad: Discrimination!

Fantastic Four 3 Will Rise

By Josh Tyler: 2007-06-29 16:24:58

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer had a solid but not spectacular box office performance, and even though critics savaged it audiences still seem to like it. Moviehole says Fox is going to give the four another shot. Fantastic Four 3 has been greenlit, but MH’s sources tell them that the movie hinges on who they can team the Four up with. Apparently they liked the dynamic between them and Surfer, and don’t want to do another movie without some similar character to replace him.

As someone whose really enjoyed both movies, that’s kind of a bummer. I liked Silver Surfer, but I don’t think the Four need him in order to be successful again. It seems to me that Fox is vastly overrating his importance. I think most of the people who showed up for the sequel were there because they enjoyed the first one and wanted more of it. Not because of the shiny dude on the surfboard that Fox was intent on shoving down their throats with their marketing campaign.

Besides, how do they replace Surfer? They can’t use him again, can they? Word is that he’s on his way to a spinoff into his own franchise. None of the other members Fantastic Four’s gallery of allies and bad guys is nearly as interesting as the ones they’ve already covered. We’re there to see the Four anyway, not whoever it is the studio inserts into the movie to capture some specific demographic.

Check the date of your article. It is old.

I'm hoping they meet up with the Inhumans. I'm also hoping Doom won't be in it. They just f-ed him up and he can't be done right unless there's a reboot. Also Alba.......nuff said!

Just because the article is old doesn't mean 20th century fox won't green light a sequel. If they said at the time they would if they found a good charater to team the FF up with then they still might do it (depending on a good script)
Maybe no one has come up with a good script to pair the FF up with yet but that doesn't mean in the future they won't contemplate a sequel.

Maybe you should consider contributing something to the post instead of trolling with nothing substantial to add.

More likely Marvel won't let them have any more characters and if they were seriously looking into doing a third film something would be in the works by now.

Inhumans maybe? I don't see Marvel letting them have their own movie.

I would think the Inhumans would be fair game for an FF sequel, just like any of Marvel's mutants are usable in an X-Men movie - but I do not see how they could be done right on the present FF budgets. They don't even spend the money to do the four heroes right, plus one villain; so I shudder to think what they would do with an entire race of Inhumans, or even the seven main ones!
