No Fear, All Sky: Kyle Chandler IS Hal Jordan/Green Lantern

Seeing as how we have a more mature Hal, I’m hoping for a more mature Carol Ferris.

Maybe Jennifer Aniston.

That's a good call. I like it.

I'm cool with this casting. I wonder who will play John?

I just re-read Tom King's Hal-focused Darkseid War issue, where Hal's reminiscing about a talk he had with one of his Dad's friends shortly after he was killed, and based on that memory, Hal ultimately chooses to give up the power of a God, because "we get to choose, and Gods just get to watch," and picturing Friday Night Lights Kyle Chandler in particular in that issue is incredibly easy. Like, I think he fits King's vision of that character like a glove. Hal's definitely not my favorite Lantern in comics, but however long he will be with us, he will be impossible for me to hate with Chandler in the role. I cannot overstate how much I adore this pick!!! :hrt:

Do I want Hal to be that old? No.
Do I TOTALLY MIND IT and HATE IT? No.
So its a good casting choice actor wise...age wise....meh

If this new universe is successful it could lead to a prequel series with someone cast as young Hal.

James Wolk is waiting in the wings.

Already worked with Lindelof too.

You'll change your tune if John is yummylicious. :o

I didn’t realise Kyle Chandler was 59. He looks good for his age. Great to have the role finally confirmed.

I’m just hoping that when Kyle is introduced that he is written the way that King wrote him in Omega Men. I loved Kyle in that story.

Posted this in the other thread, I'll post it here too. I took this casting a bit hard, I will remain optimistic. I like that people who are aware of Kyle Chandler say it's a good casting choice for an older Hal. I guess I need to watch Friday Night Lights lol. I'm all for young Hal flashbacks and maybe getting a prequel series or movie. Maybe Hal's age lines up with Barry & Oliver and we could see them as young heroes together while the current timeline focuses on John/Kyle & Wally West or something.

I associate fighter pilots with the 90s so much that it’d almost be better to be to see Hal’s origin take place then, should the franchise make it that far

I am like 95% certain John, eventually Kyle, and maybe Jessica will be the main Lanterns of this universe. At the very least, it will be John. The ages of Hal and John and the plan for John to be the lead was one of the first things we heard about this project last year, and nothing we’ve heard since then has contradicted that. The writing’s been on the wall about that looong before this casting imo.

That said, there’s never a bad time to watch Friday Night Lights. Dude won that Emmy for a reason. Kyle can do the inspirational leader/mentor thing with his eyes closed and will be a fantastic Hal imo.

Yeah why wasn't James Wolk offered this role? 🤔

they were aiming for the 45-60 age range.... Wolk is barely 40

but, if there is a prequel of his younger days, James Wolk and Kyle Chandler do look enough alike that he'd be a decent fit for it

I can see it for sure.

I guess some of us assume they're doing Parallax because of Hal's age, but I guess who's to say that hasn't already happened in-universe at this point in time? If so, it makes a prequel story more interesting.

I'm curious how this version of Hal's life has played out.
