Thank you, Lord!

Although text messaging is allowed.

F***ing ******ed law makers.

I read about this the other day. Apparently, you can dial numbers, but not talk on the phone.

This is needed pretty much everywhere. The law makes no prohibition against using a hands-free device (at least for adults), so it shouldn't be that much of an imposition.

No problem. I already have a team in place who are looking for ways around this.

I've almost been killed 5 times by ******s who were talking on their cell phones while driving.
People who talk on their cell phones while driving should be shot on sight.
They're a menace.

New York has already had that law in place for a few years now. Not like people follow it though...

It's not the fact that you have one hand attached to your head that's distracting, it's that you're engaged in conversation. I don't know how a hands free phone will do anything. **** this law. All it is doing is making me spend $ on a blue tooth headset.

teenagers should be banned from cellphones, I seen too many near accidents and actual accidents from them because they aren't paying attention to the road!!!

Phone conversation puts you into an alpha trance state, akin to hypnotism.
You can talk to someone else in the car and be perfectly alert, but something about the way your brain has to re-create a mental "personage" for this disembodied voice, takes you slightly out of your own physical surroundings.

Finally, California has done something I agree with.

This is the most ridiculous law...you can dial on the phone but you can't talk? What is more dangerous...looking at your cell phone to text someone or looking at the road and talking on the phone?

This law should be placed everywhere. It pisses me off when people talking on their phones cut me off. Ugh.

Haha! You sounded like J. Jonah Jameson talking about Spider-Man for a second there at the end. :D

This is a good law. I like it.

The law goes into effect July 1st, but I don't quite get it. Talking on the phone certainly has an effect on your driving, but it's not the fact that you're using one hand to steer. If it was, they'd also ban (non-alcohol) drinking while driving, and no one would make cup holders anymore. I don't see blue tooth headsets fixing this.

When you're stuck behind some doofus going 30 on the highway, chances are they're not sipping coffee...

That's my point. Using one hand to drive isn't the problem, so why keep handfree phone accessories legal?

I'm in the east bay i'm very happy the law is passing, i don't see the problem in pulling over if you have a call to make, but yeah, texting is going to cause so much problems cuz all the idiots that were talking on the phone are going to be staring at thier phones looking for the buttons to make a smiley face

Somehow I doubt this is going to stop anyone from doing it.

I hope it does something, i'm hit almost constantly by people not paying attention becasue they have a phone to their ear. Even though having a hands free thingy they will still be destracted by the conversation maybe the free hand they have could be on the wheel now. Chances are though they'll probally just use it to hold their startbucks now.

I hope they outlaw texting next. I can't count the number of times I've almost been hit by *******s texting away and not looking at the road D:

been a few deaths due to texting, both I recall from teenagers

I don't doubt it. I have friends who've done it while I'm in the car with them, and I've almost killed them for doing it, since they could easily kill me because of it.

...if you killed them when they were driving, then you would have died anyway. Then making phone calls would be the least of of your problems. I hate that story.

I meant afterwards. You know. When my life wasn't at risk.
