no-name director gets AvP2

they said they want to go back to the original horrors and make it gritty

still, he managed to make AVP look like total crap

and that's just the screenwriting

I honestly beleive that Paul Anderson could have made a pretty damn good Alien vs. Predator movie. The special features on the 2 disk set had him sound enthusiastic and his ideas sounded pretty damn good on paper.

It was 20th Century Fox that f**ked it up. The same ones who f**ked up Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, and X-Men: The Last Stand. All of which could have been great if it weren't for the studio meddling in.

^Seriously...its gonna be FOX that'll f*** this movie up.

You forget one small detail. Anderson wrote the script. I know what you mean by that but just because he is enthusiastic about something doesn't automatically mean that he is talented. He's not. Maybe as a set designer but not as a director or writer.

I really hate the way Fox is treating this franchise.

^They do it with everything they get there hands on.

Well, i wasnt confident in the original once Andersen was attached, and i am now not confident in this one either. How can they have Aliens and Predators fighting in the modern worlds streets, that is totally not in continuity.

Another 1 of Fox's cheap quickies for profit:o

Speak for yourself. I thought X3 WAS great, the best of the trilogy. It takes balls to admit to liking MGS and knocking movies/games with better plot, acting, etc though :D

Well, David Fincher was originally a video director. We'll see ;)
Uh... so was Michael Bay... :(
And I'm not sure if going back to the gritty style is a good decision. The Predator franchise never was and the Aliens have been show way too much in the later films so it's not as easy to scare people with them. But maybe they'll be able to surprise us. Apparently the script is being written by Salermo, who worked with Anderson on AvP. There was a script review earlier this year in AICN and while I didn't read it all because of spoilers, it didn't sound so hot. From what I remember it involved some kid from highschool as the main character.

Well, at least we get to see more of the AVP franchise on the big screen. That's gotta be one plus. Just, the idea of having two directors (brothers) makes me feel that things may be a little more balanced this time. I like their statement about making it real and gritty, but I hope they don't make this next flick as sequel to the first AVP movie.

At least it's not Paul "I call myself an Alien fan" Anderson.

I hope these guys turn out a much better movie.
