TBH, I only know him as the original Daniel Jackson. Didn't know what else he was in. Would not have expected this at all.

Funny, though, because I was just idly wondering the other day what kind of character Michael Shanks (who took over the character of Jackson in SG-1) would play if he were ever cast in the MCU.

A big thing about Spader to me is he has a knack for playing characters thare intelligent and calculating, but also a little off. And his voice when playing those characters is a huge part of putting that across. Bravo Joss. Bravo.

The biggest prick in 80's movies is now Ultron.

I like it. His voice will fit perfectly.

Well, I guess that's about as good as you can get if you don't get Christopher Walken to do Ultron. :D

This is great casting. It's strange seeing that other people either don't know who he is or only know him from The Office. He's going to knock it out of the park in this role. Brilliant casting by Marvel. If anyone's ever seen Crash (not the Everybody is Racist Crash) but the we get turned on by Car accidents Crash, you know he can be creepy and disturbing as heck.

Tuff Turf/ Less Than Zero reunion between Spader and RDJ

As well as 80's Teen movies, Cronenberg movies, The Secretary and Star Gate I know James Spader from films like
Wolf and The Watcher. The watcher is the only time I've ever seen Keanu Reeves play a villain.

Really happy with this pick. Can't wait to hear more news. Marvel seemingly has casting these movies down to a science.

It's weird how they announced the casting. They did it pretty early for a character that will probably be CGI and I can't recall when they've ever announced a casting with their own press release. I'm betting this is how we'll get Thanos's casting too. Speaking of which...any day now...

Loved him as Daniel Jackson in SG-1 and mainly as Alan Shore on The Practice/Boston Legal. He has a sort of smug, charming voice that makes it kind of perfect for a villain.

He was also great in his small role in Lincoln and stirred up some Oscar talk for his performance. Great choice, he's got a great voice and I'm sure he will be doing some motion capture

I like it. I wouldve loved Lance Henriksen as the voice for Ultron but Spader sounds good too.
