No Time To Die (Bond 25)

Not shamed to admit to liking most of the Brosnan Bond songs.

Also, Richards was the real life Lara Croft physically in the 90s.

I still find all of them but Madonna's catchy as hell. Turner's Goldeneye maybe derivative, but it works. I really enjoy Garbage's and even Crow's works for me.

Honestly, I like most Bond songs. There only a few that I have no time for.

I like all three of the instrumentals, especially OHMSS, which is my second favorite Bond theme. My issue with Dr. No is it has been done better on a number of occasions, including in Casino Royale. There is also the problem that Dr. No has like three different songs over the titles, including Three Blind Mice. Which I like, but yeah. It is probably why most list, don't actually list a song from Dr. No. Because there technically isn't one. Also why I wouldn't include it now.

You Know My Name, especially the film arrangement, is just all kinds of perfect to me. It is the Bond theme I have listened to the most, and the one that best sums up the character overall imo. And of course Chris Cornell being Chris Cornell.

1. You Know My Name
2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
3. Goldfinger
4. You Only Live Twice
5. Nobody Does It Better
6. Thunderball
7. A View to a Kill
8. Live and Let Die
9. Skyfall
10. Writing's on the Wall
11. Diamonds Are Forever

Writing's on the Wall in the top 10? Darth, I like you and I love that you have my personal favourite theme, On Your Majesty's Secret Service as your number 2, so I am going to forget that I saw that listed so high. We shall never speak of this again.

I wasn't big on it when it came out, and Sam Smith isn't my favorite artist, though he has songs I enjoy. I don't even like the movie all that much. But the theme has grown on me and I do like it. I wish I could say the same for Jack White's...

Basically with Smith's song if you like Smith, you will like his song. I do. It will probably be the same with Ellish. If you like her music, you will probably like her theme.

Besides Britney Spears being a poor fit for Bond, that song came out during a time when the franchise was in semi-hibernation between Brosnan and Craig. Not that she would have been considered anyway.

Lawd. The last time I was in a strip joint they had Britney on repeat.

It's James Bond B! Gimme, Gimme More!

The biggest missed chance for a Bond theme song, was when the Spice Girls were at their height. It would have been random, out of place, and probably really good. Like a lot of Spice Girls songs.

On my personal dream performer for a Bond song, I would go with something like:

1. Florence Welch
2. Hayley Williams
3. Annie Clark (My brother is a smart one)
4. Explosions in the Sky
5. Ghost (Because the world is not prepared for this)

I have made my peace that someday we will have Ariana Grande over singing a Bond theme song.
Hayley Williams would kill. Damn, I hadn’t ever thought of her for a Bond theme and now I’ll forever be sad unless she gets to do it :csad:.

And Billie Eilish is pretty cool. I like her but I’m not really sure right now how her sound will fit this franchise. Can’t wait to hear it.

Eilish is a fantastic right out of left field choice. Really looking forward to what she comes up with! Hopefully it will be as good as Casino Royale’s and Skyfall’s themes

It is amazing how old this thread sounds right now. :funny:

By the way, the best Bond theme is still, "You Know My Name". Which apparently sounded "nothing" like a "real" Bond theme.

I love Chris Cornell. Love Soundgarden, Audioslave, and a lot of his solo stuff (Sunshower is a goddamned masterpiece). But for some reason I never liked “You Know My Name.” Honestly, the songs have been one of the weaker aspects of the Craig films for me, with Skyfall being the only exception (that one is perfect IMO and might be my favorite Bond song of all time).

Spectre had the perfect name for a song. It sounds mysterious and far less generic than "Writing's on the wall".

Even the other films could really have used the title like Quantum of Solace or even Casino Royale.

"Quantum of Solace" is far more unique as a song title than "Another Way to Die".

It's a lack of imagination if song writers can't write a song using a given title and they have to resort to "what rhymes with Solace or Royale?" and then give up when they can't think of anything. That's not the only way to structure a song. You don't have to put the title at the end of a line.

Lara Croft is a better actor than Denise Richards.

I’m not referring to Angelina Jolie or Alicia Vikander, because they obviously are. I mean PlayStation 1 cutscene Lara Croft is more lifelike and realistic than Denise.

Yeah, I agree. I also think why “You Know My Name” doesn’t work for me is because Casino Royale is intended to be the “first” James Bond story, and it is the first adventure of this new Bond. If that song had been used in a film that featured a weathered Bond on his millionth assignment, then it might have made sense. But in CR, he’s supposed to be starting out as a 00 agent. Obviously we all know who Bond is but in the context of the film, he’s supposed to be new at this. So the song shouldn’t have reflected the opposite.

Song- You know my name!!!!!!

Audience- Uh no we don’t. You shot two people. One in his office and another guy in the bathroom

And they're dead, so they don't know him either. It's the opposite of the Cheers theme song "Where everybody knows your name".

Turner's Goldeneye maybe derivative, but it works.
Goldeneye is a weird song. It was written by Bono and The Edge (who probably could have performed a good Bond song in their prime) but they were clearly trying to make it Shirley Bassey-esque without taking into consideration that Goldeneye in the film was a satellite weapons system. It's just a song about Bond that randomly name drops the word "Goldeneye" every so often just because it's the title. But whatever, at least Tina Turner performed the hell out of it.

Didn't felt like reading the last few pages, but I dig their choice of getting Billie Eilish. She'll definitely surprise all the old farts who are oblivious to music in the last 5 years.

Florence is one of my favourite isngers, seen her 3 or 4 times live she literally sounds just like she does on a studio track, always thought she would make an excellent candiated for a bond song.

Freya Ridings is another one who's popped up over the last few years with a somewhat similar voice I think would also make a good fit.

I don't really know anything about Billie Eilish, so I just hope she's better than Sam Smith.
Yeah same here, wish her the best but not gonna lie this made me feel a little old lol when did the people doing the bond songs become younger than me :funny:

It's about time they let Muse have a crack at it, I'd love one of their epic rock/symphonic takes.

They did have an unofficial attempt with Supremacy I guess

Bond Spice!

Most Bond songs are boring so I don't think its a big deal whoever sings it. Die Another Day is the only one that is really catchy. I preferif they just use an instrumental to play with the opening titles.
