From the Interview w/ Ennis in Yesterday's Ghost Rider: Marvel Spotlight (overall, a great little issue).
No wonder RTD felt like Ennis on cruise control. He doesn't care about the character at all. At least Way seems to care a lot about GR and his history. Between Devin Grayson's belief that the motorcycle was what it was all about and Garth Ennis's indifference, it almost seems like Marvel was trying to kill to character off by giving him to creators who completely missed the point.
Even if the Nic Cage movie is horrid, I will still like it for the mere fact it got us a new ongoing series written by someone who at least "gets it" somewhat.
SPOTLIGHT: Your series focused just about exclusively on Ghost Rider, and not his alter ego, Johnny Blaze. Why did you decided to go this direction?
GARTH: Johnny Blaze didn't interest me, really. Just another tormented soul/do-gooder. Ghost Rider's not much better, but he has the huge advantage of the . . . motorbike and burning head.
