Jett seems to be showing some signs of doubt on whether Nolan is coming back (although he still thinks he will)...

Let me preface this BATMAN 3 update by saying that I learned A LOT last time. And what I mean by “last time” is the period between BATMAN BEGINS to THE DARK KNIGHT. Really, there was so much BS going around then about casting, which villains were going to be in the film, the storyline, etc., that I swore up and down that I wasn't going to do it this next go 'round.
Truth be told, I could run a story every single day that featured some BATMAN 3 “scoop.”
*sigh*
With all that said, I AM going to run a story that jumps around a bit (hang with me, OK?), but I strongly suggest that y'all take with a grain of salt...
A while back, I was hearing some scuttlebutt that flat-out, Chris Nolan wasn't going to do another BATMAN. Now this was simply – like I said – scuttlebutt. But the folks that I was hearing it from were folks that I trust.
So I sat on it.
Finally, I contacted Warner Bros. and Mr. Nolan's reps and told them pretty much what I just told you all.
I've still haven't heard back from either...yet.
Now if you remember, I reported on BOF a while back that the word was that there was – at minimum – and “handshake agreement” between Mr. Nolan (and co.) that he'd do another BATMAN after INCEPTION.
I stand by that.
I also reported that “just in case,” Warner Bros.' has a list of directors that they'd consider to take over the helm of the U.S.S. BATMAN if and when Mr. Nolan's done (CLICK HERE for that full story and follow-ups). One of those names rumored to be on said list was WATCHMEN and 300 director Zack Snyder. Somehow, this story got twisted into “Zack Snyder Wants To Direct BATMAN 3,” or “Zack Snyder challenges Chris Nolan to a fist-fight over BATMAN
*rolls eyes*
See how this crap works? All I said is that Warner Bros. is keeping their ducks in a row and one of those ducks might and/or was rumored to be Mr. Snyder.
Of course, the Snyder camp called BS on the story – not BOF's, but the BS one's that sprang from it. But come on now! Do you think that WB isn't looking all possible options and scenarios when it comes to their #1 film franchise?
Please!
Anyway, back to the recent Nolan's done rumors...
I'm told by several folks that I know and trust, that it's BS and it is pretty much guaranteed that Chris is going to return to Gotham once INCEPTION -- which I'm tremendously looking forward to – is complete.
Look, I know that lack of news is maddening – I'm with y'all on that. But at some point soon, Warner Bros. is going to have to publicly lay claim to Summer 2012 release date for BATMAN 3 -- the clock is ticking on that and the ticks are getting louder. If it were up to me (and it isn't, of course) and Mr. Nolan and co. have signed on for B3 as I've heard is possible, then I'd announce it in July as Comic Con International gets underway in San Diego.
But I'm just a guy who runs a little 'ol Batman website -- what the HELL do I know about such matters? Anyway...
Since I've asked both Warner Bros. and Chris' reps to comment once already on this likely BS that Chris is done with BATMAN, I'll respectfully do so again.
All they got to do is call.

EDIT - Handle with care. For the past few months, every time I visit his site my AV gives me a spyware warning.

ANOTHER EDIT - Someone suggested I remove the link entirely. Apparently I wasn't the only one getting spyware warnings so I don't want to lead anyone to a site that gets them an infection.

I could see him wanting to move on, depending on how his next film does.

If Nolan goes, WB should double his salary. After the box office return of TDK, I wouldn't put it past them to do so.

Okay, someone please clear up something for me... Who the hell is Jett? I saw Anjow and he had some semi-violent (verbally) exchanges or something, but I have no clue who this Jett dude is or what his connections to WB and Chris Nolan are (I did hear he apparently thinks he's one of Nolan's boys or something).

i'd rather he do it because he has the passion for it and not because WB threw cash at him.

I am a strong advocate of going out while you are on top... Nolan should perfect his craft and try other things... you don't get to direct many films in your life... especially most of the great film makers... we're lucky to get 3-4 films from them in a decade. WB will probably turn around and give it to Goyer if and when that happens IMO, but we are still a long ways away from desperation time.

Who is this Jett person?

Or if he goes, they should just end it there and restart again down the road. Of course, they won't with all that possible money-making staring them i the face, but as long as we're talking about doing the noble thing.....

the mere idea of that is vomit inducing.

why start over? that'd be dumb. to assume that no one could continue the series or top nolan shows a real lack of imagination.

starting over from scratch after TDK would be wasting Christian Bale. He's the best Batman we've ever had and probably will be the best for awhile, if not ever. Sure, Bale seems to be a Class-A D-Bag off the set, but as far as acting goes, he is great. When we have a guy like him playing Batman and he seems pretty interested to continue to play him, we are going to say "no" and re-boot the franchise a few years down the road? Plus everyone's saying TDK can't be topped. Wouldn't it be nice to see if something could be built on TDK?

...something tells me that WB is going to get Brett Ratner or McG.

Eh, but who's to say you can't STAY on top with a sequel? We wouldn't have gotten GFII or ESB, otherwise. Yes, TDK was a sequel, but BB wasn't that highly recognized.

Wouldn't continuing a vision of another director, be the move that lacks imagination? I'd much rather see a different take on the character when Nolan moves on.

Agreed Crook.

It shows less imagination if some other director comes in and tries to imitate what Nolan has done.

After this series is done I want to see it re-invented, a new take.

Did Snyder actually SAY he wanted to do a Batman movie?
or did WB say they wanted him to?

AFAIK He wants to do The Dark Knight Returns, which would suit his style. He did a wonderful comic loyal job with Watchmen, he can do the same with Dark Knight.

I think Clooney would be awesome in the role, plus he's got Bat-history

Dafoe for the Joker

Lies. Mark Hamill for Joker!

Noooooooooooo

Dafoe's got the acting chops

Nolan will come back, i could see him actually hanging on as a producer and maybe giving it to Goyer or even better his brother. Either way the nolan brothers will have some input on this project, wether its as directors, writers or producers.

Why isn't anyone answering the question: who is Jett?

Jeez... how hard can it be to do a little research...

Jett is the owner, founder and webmaster of the site Batman-on-film.com

Jett is simply a moniker for his real name which I believe is Bill Ramey (sp?)

He is simply another fan who runs a website, yet claims to have some connections to WB! Some dispute his reliability and feel he can be quite pompous or arrogant at times...

More to read here... as well as his bio....
