The Dark Knight Rises Nolan outlining Batman 3

Follows the time line for Dark Knight. I read that they were outlining from October to December 2005 and then Jonah was asked to pen the script in January 2006. Something like that.

So this confirms Nolan returns?

i'd say it confirms that he's thinking about the possibility of returning, because he said in an earlier interview that he would hate to get started on Batman 3 and halfway through production realize that it wasnt the story he wanted to tell.

The man's taking his time...the single BEST thing he can do right now.

We can speculate all we want, but as long as no one is pressuring him to rush into a sequel and we keep our patience...it'll pay off I'm sure.

Just do your thing, Nolan...It'll be worth the wait. :yay:

here here! its like wine....ok it's better than that, but you get the analogy:hoboj:

Totally if he did another film before Batman 3 I would be fine with that.

It's great that he's doing this. Taking his time while the studio could be breathing down his back to get started. I definately want to see a third one, but if there really isn't a story to tell then let that be so. Leave it on a high note that TDK was.

The idea of Nolan taking his time regardless of Warners wanting to 'strike while the iron is still hot' makes me think of this perfect 'Fight Club' quote:

Chris Nolan speaking to Warner Bros:

NOLAN: I'll bring us through this. As always. I'll carry you - kicking and screaming - and in the end you'll thank me.

Its rather nice to hear that he isnt rushing into things, I really hope he stays on board. But I also see where he is coming from.

This is really the best news we can hear at this stage.

- He confesses he is writing ideas out.
- WB will not consider another filmmaker as long as Nolan tels the media he is thinking about where the story will go.
- He is hesitant, the same way he was when asked about another Batman after Batman Begins.
- if he wasn't hesitant, i'd say he'd be jumping the gun.

I hope he gets another film rolling before a third batman. I'd like him to expand his canvas before we see a Batman 3 in 2011/2012

from what I hear from my peoples......he's alot farther into it than just "jotting down ideas".

- Jow

So you're gonna spill something, right? :o

I'm glad that Nolans intentions are to make a quality film. He said it wouldn't be fair to the fans to rush into a third film. Nolan is DA MAN!!:applaud

Who are your peoples? Are they the kind of peoples that would know things like this, or are you just yanking our chain?

But this is really, really good news. Can't wait until it becomes a sure thing. I agree though, a movie in between could be a good thing for Nolan.

This sounds terribly cheesy but i'll feel less stress in life if i know in three years Nolan will officially be behind the camera for another Bat-film.

Jow has been right about alot of things. I hope this time is no exception

2012 or 2013 seems good. I don't think they will make 2011 for whatever reason.

I think it will be 2012 or beyond too. Just because i think Nolan will do another film before returning to Gotham and the likelihood it will be released in 09 is slim.

There was an interview with Jonah where he said he had already completed the first draft of the script before the end of 2005. He wasn't even officially announced as the writer in the trades until early 2006.

Hells yeah. He is a brilliant director, and I want to see more of him...period. TDK was a really amazing rollercoaster of a film, but The Prestige is not given enough credit. It is a downright brilliant F-ing film, and one of my favorites to date. It's sad that people don't appreciate it enough... it has a lot to say in the subtext, which you would never notice unless you were to really study it.

I would **** a brick if a third film and The Hobbit came out the same year.

My only gripe about waiting that many years...

Michael Caine - Alfred..... born 1933, he is now 75 years old.

Morgan Freeman - Lucious Fox...Born 1937, he is now 71 years old.

Yeah....if these guys get to old they might just stop doing movies. Which really makes me sad, I know they've agreed, but in 3 years, michael caine will be 78 years old. Almost 80, a lot can change in terms of health during those years at that age. I absolutely loved those actors in those parts, and would hate for something to screw up teh continuity.
