Since certain of us seem to be clogging up the other threads with non-Batman film talk, @shauner111 had the good idea to take the conversation elsewhere.

So, I have two movies cued up for what appears will be a rainy evening in:

King of Comedy (it's been a while since I watched it, long ago before Joker came out)
Nocturnal Animals

Nice. I have so many on my watchlist that I need to see in the next couple of months. I’ll list some of them later. Anyone here have letterboxd??

Halfway through King of Comedy, it's been well over a decade since I last saw it. I can't believe how much I'd forgotten from it, and how much Todd Phillips borrowed from it for Joker lmao

Realllly liked The King of Comedy when I first saw it maybe a year or 2 ago. The way Scorsese showcased the delusion was much more captivating than in Joker. Plus it’s funnier, original and I really liked the female supporting actress who’s name I can’t remember rn.

I don’t remember a ton about Nocturnal Animals honestly. Didn’t dislike like it, but didn’t love it either. Certainly needs a rewatch.

I’ll drop one newer film here for now: Pawlikowski’s Cold War. It is absolutely devastating. A must watch imo. It’s on Prime if you have it. Probably top 10-20 of the decade for me. Speaking of, 2019 was an incredible year for film as well.

Nocturnal Animals is an intense watch, but pretty good.

Sandra Bernhardt! I had to do a double take to make sure it was really her, but man was she ever young here lol

I'm watching Nocturnal Animals rn, and I appreciate how unconventional it is, it's actually really well done. The story itself is a bit lame, and more straightforward than it tries to be, but it's very easy to believe I'm watching (and even become invested in) separate characters even though it's the same actor/actress. Michael Shannon is always awesome. The flashbacks are handled deftly, it all works for the most part. Cheers to whoever recommended it.

Nocturnal Animals is solid but the director Tom Ford's first movie A Single Man is fantastic imo. both unique though

I just read the synopsis, sounds pretty straightforward, not really my cup of tea. but I'm sure it's probably well done if Colin Firth won an award for the lead role. Maybe I'll get around to watching it eventually, but I have a few more on my list I have to scratch off. Namely Locke with Tom Hardy.

Is the Robert Eggers Dracula script readily available or do you need to go searching for it?

I feel like I'm running out of good movies to watch. I'm actually starting to go back and re-watch some of the ones I haven't seen in a while. The other day, I actually re-watched 8MM with Nicholas Cage for the first time in about 20 years lmao Nocturnal Animals was one of the better recommendations I've had in a while. I seem to be on a bit of a neo-noir kick lately, but I enjoy anything original. If anyone can recommend anything they think might be up my alley, by all means, feel free.

I love Pig so much. Had to watch three times in three days lol. I loved the weird inter-witch drama in Suspiria

Another good movie that not too many people talk about is 1995's Lord of Illusions by Clive Barker. It's definitely up there with Se7en in legitimizing the "horror noir" genre. Style, tone, story... Barker had a ton of good ideas in this one, and they all work incredibly well for the most part.

I've got Angel Heart with De Niro cued up for tonight. I can't believe I haven't seen it already. Maybe I have, and I just don't remember lol
