This is probably not the same version that will be released in America but we will probably be getting something similar. Wonder why they went with 2.1 when it was originally rumored to be 2.5?

Holy crap, that cover rocks :wow:

And here's what we're getting on it:

Extended edition re-release of the hit film "Spiderman 2" featuring an 8-minute extended cut of the film (additons to nearly 25 scenes!) plus bonus disc with behind the scenes footage (newly recorded), VFX introduction, sound creation guide, and more! Also includes bonus issue of the American "Spiderman" comic book (subject to change).

8 extra minutes, with additions to nearly 25 scenes

Sounds very cool if the U.S.A dvd has the same special features & all on it. Looks like the cut that was shown on the FX Channel earlier this month wasn't all there was to the movie & they did in fact save a lot more footage for the dvd re-release.

Sweet! It's released on the 28th of March for anyone who's wondering. I can't wait, I'll definaly be getting my self a copy! I hope they have all the same features as last time as well though, because I never got the first version!

I don't know if the next info is true, but I'll just post it here:

What's Different In The Spider-Man 2 Special Edition?
When the Spider-Man 2 special edition comes to DVD - I already speculated that this would be in April, though nothing has been officially announced yet - there will be a whole raft of new material, recut scenes and alternate takes. 'Webhead' has been able to compile all of the differences and sent them to film ick.

Peter's Birthday Party is slightly extended.
Peter and Mary Jane's backyard conversation is slightly extended.
Spider-Man's awkward converation in the elevator is now made up from completely different takes.
Mary Jane and Louise's conversation in the shoe store is a new addition.
Peter's visit to the campus doctor is slightly extended.
Jameson is seen trying on the Spider-Man suit.
The Battle between Doc Ock and Spider-Man after the bank robbery has a new scene added - a fight in an office.
The train sequence has a small addition during Doc Ock and Spider-Man battle on top of the train.

All of this adds up to around 8 minutes of additional footage. It's not yet clear which new extras will be on this DVD release, but something tells me they'll add up to one of the best, most satisfying double dips yet."

Will the DVD be different than the broadcasted version, or is this just some fanboy's dream idea?

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting more and more excited about this. Who else is going to buy this dvd for sure?

nice cover but no cover in the world is going to get me to sit through a 'longer' version of spidey 2.

LOL Did they go back in time to do that?

It's behind the scenes stuff, which could mean interviews with the special fx guys, or storyboard guys showing sketches of the fight scenes etc.

This is just fantastic news!

So help me, at this point in time i'm more excited at the thought of seeing a new Doc Ock fight sequence, than I am Spider-man 3!!

Really, oh I can't wait for the third, and my brother's s**tting himself over it.

That cover is awesome they should have made the original dvd like that

Wow, this is really exciting. Glad they're using a different elevator scene--that was kind of dull. And longer fights! Yeah! :)

One of the best double dips ever! :)

Nice 8 extra minutes of footage, including action sequences. This is worth the buy in my opinion. Since the FX cut seriously only added 1 minute of stuff, I'm sure this will have some impressive scenes. And it's Spider-man so of course I'll buy it.

More Ock scenes? Sign me up.

Here is the American (Region 1) cover art finally.

Further Details:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed early details on Spiderman 2.1 which includes an all-new extended cut of the film with an extra 8 minutes of footage. The set will be available to own from the 17th April, and should retail at around $19.94. The full details have yet to be confirmed, although we can confirm that both the video and audio have been digitally remastered. Extras are expected to include an introduction with producers Avi Arad and Grant Curtis, an audio commentary with producer Laura Ziskin and screen-writer Alvin Sargent, a trivia track with new video segments, an "Inside 2.1" featurette on the new cut, visual effects breakdowns, a sneak peek at Spider-Man 3, and more. We'll bring you further details just as soon as the disc is officially announced. For now though, here's an early look at the art:
