Film Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

Legendary Entertainment Eyeing Options As Warner Deal Ends – Deadline

Sony or Paramount would be so happy but I feel they'd be getting the Godzilla/Monster movies after they already peaked. And Dune after the second movie?

Dune would most likely get a reboot if another studio got it. Just so they could put their own stamp on it and divest the franchise entirely from WB. Sony is gonna Sony and would want Tom Holland playing Paul.

Paramount might expand Dune on Paramount+, but I wouldn't count on them to finance any theatrical Dune Messiah film.

WB isn't fully financing either. Legendary is still paying for 75% of the budget of their films. I don't see them rebooting. Not if the second film is as big as the first one in pop culture and Villeneuve still wants his third movie. And I don't see any reason Paramount wouldn't commit to theatrical either. If anything, this year has proved to them that their future is in cinema screenings. Every single one of their films at the very least made some profit, with Maverick breaking all sorts of records. That is certainly not the case with every other studio in Hollywood right now. Also whoever makes a new deal with Legendary, has to offer the most compelling package. They wouldn't leave WB so that they could have their two biggest franchises in peril.

I'm not an expert on all these issues, nor am I aware of all the assets WB has.
But from my naive perspective, I wonder : If Matt Reeves becomes the studio's main "cash cow", wouldn't this finally put his creative freedom in danger? If too much rests on his shoulders, I can totally see the current management imposing a ton of notes and other mandates on him in order to ensure maximum revenue.
I mean, it seems silly to take the risk of tainting relationships with your most valued collaborators, but hey, look where we are...:funny:

I don’t think we need to give a round of applause to Zaslav for, as they call it, getting one no-brainer thing right. It would be like a new exec coming in at Disney after the first Avengers and proposing that they retain Feige and RDJ. Do you really need to pay someone $250 million to get that level of expertise?

I predict that within the next year or so, HBO Max will pretty much be a shadow of it’s former self. And then, a year after that, when it’s finally starting to go under, Zaslav will take what he made from this blunder and just abandon ship to seize control of another streaming service to ruin.

Seriously, **** you, Zaslav, and may karma bite you in the a**. Really hope a streaming service like Apple TV+ is there to pick up the pieces and salvage this mess once it gets to that point.

It really takes a lot of effort to be the most hated man in charge of a streaming service right now, so congrats Zas
He went straight to no.1 so fast and he’s not happy coasting there, he’s looking for GOAT status.
