Ok, I like to start the official thread for Claude, the hero with the power of invisibility played by British actor Christopher Eccleston and like to start on speculations about what type of charter would he be? Will a good guy or bad guy? What tactics do you think we will see with invisibility?

Well he is suppose to be a good guy, at least that can be assumed since the character is going to mentor Peter and teach him how to control his powers.

Tactics-wise, I'd say an Invisible Man pretty much fills a stealth option. If one looks at the way Tony Curran did the Invisible Man in LXG, that's probably along the lines of what an Invisible Man can do. Granted, the character will be different, but the powers will probably be used the same way.

I can almost see tactics and and maybe an added "talent" being done similar to the old, yes old scifi channel The Invisible Man series they did 4 years old (I think) where he was to make other things and even people become invisible.

what's interesting is that he's had his powers much longer than the other Heroes.....he is Patient Zero in actuality
how did Chandra miss him? (pun partially-intended)

^Perhaps this guy has gone off the grid, been living in secret since he has mastered his powers. It sounds like he has been around for a while, he may have encountered some trouble and have gone underground. That would make since if Chandra had not known about him, and maybe Chandra did know but could not find any trace of the guy.

It is an interesting question, but we haven't seen the whole list, he could have been on it and something happened that made him unable to be found.

Does anyone know what Eccleston's natural accent is? In Doctor Who, he spoke with a north English accent, which I can't pin, but is that his natural accent? Presumably he's not going to be the stereotypical English guy in terms of accent.

I wouldn't mind him using his accent, the more various in the heroes (from different countries, or cultures) the better. Diversify.

Christopher Eccleston has a niche for characters who are over all good but are injured and hurt in some way.. I'd say he'll be an anti-hero.. Sorta like how he played The Doctor in Doctor Who.

Nothing wrong with an English hero at all. I just don't want him to be the stereotypical English guy that tends to appear in US dramas, ie a bit of a toff. Very few people in England are like that. We have an incredible amount of diversity in terms of culture.

I think Christopher Eccleston is from the Manchester area, its the new doctor, David Tennent who is Scottish in real life. I don't see why he couldn't use his natural accent or an approximation thereof on this show, its characters being from all over the world, but they might just have him do an American one anyway.

Eccleston is proud of being from the "North".. But yeah, I don't know why not.. Hiro is Japanese..

Hiro is the stereotypical Japanese guy
wears glasses, reads comics (watches anime?), has to add the letter "a" to all English words (Great-a Scott)

For me, the English stereotype is upper class guy who is well spoken, as seen in every US show going. Second place goes to the 'mockney' Londoner.

Just checked Wikipedia. He was born Salford to be precise, which is Manchester. I hope they keep the Manchester accent.

And no one outside of the UK understands quite how many accents we have. There are a lot, and they're all very distinct. In my house at uni, the five of us all have different accents, which even extends to completely different words for things.

Sort of like how we in Ontario have our own accent, where as just south in Port Dover our slang words don't even mean the same thing.. and if you go to buffalo they're most american accent.. the more north you go the more you start to sound like a french Norse men.. its really cool.

Yeah from what I know he was born and bred in Lancashire (Blackpool/Salford/Manchester areas etc) which is "the north" as far as England is concerned and has some very distinctive accents. Though being from London I tend to hear "t'up north" all similarly, even though my friends come from different sides of the country . I hope he does keep a similar accent to his regular one, there's no reason why not on a series like Heroes which has many different cultures and accents, but he's an accomplished enough actor to be able to do accents without too much trouble so they could just have easily signed him on to play an American character without too much bother, which would be a shame in a way. Anyone know how many episodes his character is likely to be in?

Oh come on, you must be able to tell the difference between Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle accents. They're so different it isn't funny!
