NYC officials want new 'Survivor' pulled

It wouldn't suprise me if there is a historical reason behind this. Most Survivors take historical aspects of their location and apply them to the game. Do the Cooke Islands have a history of segregation?

I looked it up and it's not apparant. Though it is possible that they might be going for the theme of sailors settling on the island and trying to survive by themselves and the 'natives' watching as often was the case.

That's something I didn't think of. Good point.

I never really liked that show because it basically showed how much people are willing to do for 1 million dollars, if they win. (around $650,000 or so after Uncle Sam dips his hand into the till.) I know that's a good deal of money, but it's not like anyone can retire on that unless they move to Mexico.

or Ohio.:o :p

Kidding.:)

Do the other contestants make any money or are they just screwed if they're not the winner?

No.
I cant remember the exact details but the history of the islands revolve around mutiny and a Leper colony.

Survivor is still in the Top 10 highest viewed tv shows and it's on it's 13th season, so I really doubt theyre going to cancel it anytime soon.

Jeff Probst is only signed on till Survivor 16, but if CBS wanted to keep the show going, they could re-negotiate his contract or find a new host.

I've heard that the payoffs are paid out in the following, approximately.

First place - $1 million.
Second place - $100 grand.
Third place $50 grand.
Fourth place - $25 grand.
Fifth place - $20 grand and so on down.
Sixteenth place - $2,500

NEW YORK - As CBS prepares to launch a new season of the hit reality show "Survivor," this time featuring teams divided by race, enraged city officials are saying it promotes divisiveness and are calling for the network to reconsider.
Racist!

Max and Equint don't want me and Toven to host. :o

1st through 5th are pretty good sums of dough. (3-5 only if it's tax-free)

I wonder how many people do it for the challenge instead of the money?

Battling the weather elements, hunger, teamwork issues, and irritable personalities while making yourself valuable seems like a huge undertaking. Add the significant problem of literally treating it like the ultimate form of multi-involved chess(self vs. every other person[their movements, thoughts - past and present]-other players vs. each other and the same conjecture about what they will and won't do), and it's really impressive for the people who win, but luck is what a lot of it probably boils down to.

I'd probably get kicked out in the 1st or 2nd week.

I think I could last until the merger and then I'd probably be gone.
