Be ready because someone is about to go to Obama's webpage and copy paste his economic plan......

I want to hear it from Obama himself, not in sound bites, and not reading it on a website.....but from the man himself. "I'm going to raise taxes, that will for many Americans, will push their taxes up to 55%".....I want to hear that from him.

Waiting for the cut and paste......

What are Obama's Policies for Taxes? How will he Help with the Energy Crisis? What is his plan for...

Can someone please tell me what his Policies are? Instead of what he is not? (i.e. Not McCain's Blah, Blah, Blah. He is for Change Blah blah blah. He's not Bush, Blah blah blah)

Where does he really stand on these things?

www.ontheissues.org is good for searching his record. I've checked many candidates out on that. Afterall, you cannot hide from your voting record. :cwink:

It is easier if your Federal Voting Record is only 154 days long. What does he say? What are his Plans?

What voting record? He's NV on many of his votes....

Does Michelle Obama annoy anyone else?

from moraldeficiency...
hahaha, no no no....

he took the work of others, the brilliant work of others, and made money off it. He was very smart in seeing a market that could be exploited and buying out the products of others while only loaning those applications out. He created a monopoly because he saw ahead of the curve. I'll give you that, but don't make it sound like he created anything, he didn't. He didn't work his ass off, he used people to get ahead. That's fine and legal, but it isn't parade worthy and he made nothing off his own work whatsoever.

Yes buisness is about opportunity taking and giving nothing back. I agree completely. But don't you think that's a bit ****ed up? I mean every major problem we've had in recent times from the envirnment, to oil, to wars, poverty, the aids epidemic has been fueled and almost entirely created by this corporate greed which is stupid. It's like fannie mae which ****ed over everyone in this country because it put it's interests above that of everyone else and now the gov. (meaning tax money from me and you) has to pay to bail them out. Do you see the inherit problem here?

"Think clearly about you're arguing." --- think clearly about what you're typing so I can understand.

I'm not saying it's wrong to do what he did, but to foster the myth that he's a self made man or some type of creator is just false. He created a monopoly and right now both you, I and anyone reading this are bill gate's *****es. Yes he knew how to program, but I'm a ****** with computers and even I know some code. It's not some big deal. Cause I know how to use an ax doesn't make me a lumberjack.

He's at the level of richness he is now cause he's fostered a monopoly and used lobbists to stay that way.

Ok, I'll give negative connotations to that. He's put many out of buisness and forced a market to his whims. That's illegal but with the money he has bill gates could shoot you in the ****ing face on national tv and get away with it. And I don't think I'm exaggerating on that. He's made sure his company gets everything while blocking innovations and the competative spirit of different ideas and small companies that 1)he used to profit off of and become who he is and 2) would have the effect of keeping the market progressing along a free track. Basically he used capitalism to get where he is, then dynamited the door and turned the system into a monopoly he has sole control over.

His charities wouldn't nearly equal the money the would be generated from taxes if he ran his company in any way that approaches near ethical standards. Do you say thank you for a man that steals 100 from you then donates 10 to your relief fund the next day? Apparently you do.

He has his own foundation to scream how great he is. I told you, rich people don't do anything for themselves.

I didn't every say raise the taxes on the rich and hand it out to the poor. I don't believe in rebate checks or any of that crap. I do think after a certian point you're more than able to give a greater portion than others and I think that's part of being a citizen which too many of you US citizens forget because you were born here. You feel entitled to everything while you scream to high heaven when you have to give back. You live in a country where if you lose everything the government will help you get back on your feet, give you money, help you find a job and place to stay. People don't have to starve here, that's really a beautiful thing. Now saying that when you reach the other end and you're so wealthy you no longer have to do your own shopping, what's the big deal in giving back more than the typical 9 to 5er? People expect and demand help when they're hurting, but when you're doing well people forget what got them there. Suddenly "they" were the ones earning everything all by themselves. How stupid. Without being here gates would never have had the chance to be who he is. But now that he is that man what does he do to say thanks to society and the US? He builds a monopoly to control the market, he ensures no one else has a chance to become successful. This is just another example of the petulant child that after being raised by his parents forgets just what was given up to put him where he is today. He thinks only of himself, hurts society while pretending to help and then through some magical twist of fate gets people like you to defend him. Poor little rich boy, buying our nation out from under us, pity him and say not a slanderous word for who could be more deserving?

we get it...you hate capitalism, entreprenuership, and Bill Gates with a passion...he can only do evil and he's ingrateful for everything, which you know firsthand having spoken to him on the phone........and you like to use his products while bashing him.

Businesses in this country create millions of jobs, provide services that consumers and communities desire (cars, food, clothes, baseball parks, and thousands of dollars.....investment to charitable foundations) in a manner that is more efficient than the government can. Thank God for this country.

This country needs a president that will respect capitalism and not bring us to brinks of socialism. We don't need to experiment with European socialism. Their higher unemployment rate over there is a testament to their economy.

BTW, it appears Evan Bayh, Bill Richardson, and Joe Biden are scheduled to speak on Wednesday night....the night of Democratic VP candidate....as CNN reports. So its obvious its Bayh now...

Y'know, I really do find the ...trend of Barack Obama's campaign to be disturbing. McCain's ads may have been dumb, but they are true. The man is going to win the White House, not because of his platform (most of which is vague and/or impractical), or his experience or qualifications (he has none) but because he is trendy. He is the political equivilant to Zack Effron. Does no one else find that bothersome?

McCain's ads have most been debunked, like saying Obama is opposed to nuclear power, and electric cars. Or saying that Obama cares more about playing basketball than wounded troops, or saying he didn't visit the troops in Germany because he couldn't bring any cameras. Or the commercial that says "who is really to blame for the high gas prices, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, that's right you guessed it, Obama, Obama, Obama" Now come on. The media was actually laughing. LIke literally, you saw commentators laughing.

All of those were said in McCain's ads, and they are all false. And I hate to tell you this, but trend will only impact the very young, who make up a small percentage of the voters.

and what is with the platform comments? This guy has stated his positions on the issues, and we all know he comes from a liberal philosophy.

Why didn't he visit the Wounded Troops in Germany? Sell me on him.

Does Michelle Obama annoy anyone else?

Not really. I'm more like Michelle Obama who? Basically kind of neutral. She's not running for President. She is not killing anybody. I have no reason to dislike her. Unlike some, who will say they don't like her out of pure spite for the fact that she is married to the candidate they don't like.

Does Michelle Obama annoy anyone else?

Sometimes. She is one of those people who needs to watch what she says, which is why I'm really hoping the DNC triple checks the speech she's making at the convention before she gives it.

In Obama's defense, if he chose to go - John McCain and company would have politicized the heck out of it because Barack Obama would have been "using the wounded warrior's of our great nation as a propaganda tool for political office."

Instead, Obama chose not to go, knowing full well what McCain and company would do if he did go...so guess what? John McCain decided to politicize the heck out of it anyway because Barack Obama "doesn't care about the wounded warrior's of our great nation. He was more concerned about large crowds, big speeches, and foreign credential photo-ops."

It was a LOSE/LOSE situation.

(Gotta love political spin! :whatever:)

Why didn't he visit the Wounded Troops in Germany? Sell me on him.

A day or two before the visit which the Pentagon knew about in advance for a long time, the Pentagon chose to inform him that the only people he could bring with him were his Senate Staff, and his secret service. The informed him of this, a few days after he had completed a major portion of his trip, and he had already sent his senate staff, and almost all of his secret service back home to the United States. The Pentagon also informed him that people are not allowed to make it a political event, so there was concern on both ends, that if he attend it could create problems. It was already confirmed that there were never going to be any cameras following Obama visiting the troops. He could have visited them, had the Pentagon contacted him just a few days earlier instead of waiting untill the last minute. They had sufficent notice.

Basically if he had attended, his opponents would have criticized him for trying to politically profit from wounded soldiers, but since he didn't visit them, his opponents claim he plays too much basketball.

here is a link that talks somewhat about it

I'm talking about the celebrity aspect being true. And just because he has a philosophy does mean he has a solid platform. And I think you under estimate how far his trend status goes and how stupid people's reason for voting can be.

The only reason why Obama had a fighting chance in hell during the Democratic Primary was because the media made a celebrity out of him after he gave that riveting speech in 2004. Before Obama, few media outlets covered the actions of a freshman senator during his first few months in office. They were with him as he was sworn in, when he took his trip to Kenya, when he published his second book, and when he announced that he was considering a run for the Presidency in late 2006. For two years, the media put Obama on a pedestal and transformed him into one of the biggest celebrities in American politics.

And this is from a man who had no major legislative accomplishments during those first two years in office, either. It was simply his image which catapulted him to stardom and as the center of attention. So while I think McCain's attacks represent some of the worst attack ads in recent political history, I hesitate to criticize him for calling Obama a "celebrity," considering it was Obama's celebrity which skyrocketed him to political success.

*clears throat*

I think it goes something like this...

*in best dumb blonde voice*

"Like, oh my god! I soooooo voted for Obama-G today! What??? You did too??? *slight pause* Oh my god! That is sooooo awesome! Wasn't it like...the most...cool thing you've ever done??? Yeah! I totally feel like I'm somebody now!"

I dunno, I used to think that he was going to win, but his lead in Colorado is completely gone now, and McCain is catching up to him quite well in Iowa and Minnesota. Plus Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Ohio will be close.

Frankly, I'm not going to make any prediction on who wins until we see results from Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Ohio on Election Night.
