So I was in the library today and I was looking through the DVD titles it had to rent, and there I saw Dragonheart. A title from my past, when I was a kid I use to love this movie. Though saddly quite a few movies from my childhood have not held up in recent years however I thought I'd give this one a chance. Much to my surprise this movie held up surprisingly well. Outside of a predictable script, it's a wonderful swords and magic adventure. First off it was interesting seeing a movie that was at the beginning of the CGI revelation look better than most of the CGI crap being pettled out today. I attribute this to the fact that outside of the CGI dragon nothing else in the film is CGI which goes a long way in creating a very realistic looking movie. Also the Dragon itself is a charm to watch, he's absolutely beautiful and stunning to watch in action, and Sean Connery voice is just so stirring it's awesome. Dennis Quaid works great as a fallen hero who needs to find his path again. Another thing I liked about the story was the fact it was small, it wasn't out to be some super epic or to set up a franchise, it told a good story and that was it. It gave us two likeable lead characters who we could empathize with and a villain that the audience can love to hate. To be honest I don't get why the film get so much hate. Also the score is beautiful and so stirring. And you got love that ending, "Where are we to look now, Draco?" "To the stars, Bowen"

I've always loved the movie, but while Sean Connery does have a cool voice, it's true that it's too recognisable. I didn't really think about it until someone else pointed it out, but now when Draco speak you know it's Sean and that takes away from the illusion.

But still, I need to re-buy it on DVD.

I watched it the other day on TV, and I couldn't help thinking "This makes Eragon looks like pure cows***".

To the stars Bowen. To the stars.

How anybody, man, woman or child, old or young, gay or straight, sane or insane, alive or dead, cannot tear up at the end of DragonHeart is beyond me. It's a good film, but then the last sequence with Draco's sacrifice and the music elevates it to something special.

When will Rob Cohen rediscover what makes movies cool which is the story and stop making tripe... Stealth? :csad: I also digged the Rat Pack, Skulls, Dragon: Bruce Lee Story, and even Fast and the Furious. Then he went straight down hil though this is probably his best film.

i love this movie.

did you know that they rotoscope a lot of scenes with quaid and draco? it was not shot with greenscreen but the guy was actually on the set.

the effects and CGI were extreme good for their times and still looks good today.
