So I recently started playing Skyward Sword and it's definitely better than what I was expecting... something that bothers me tho, is the fact that you don't really need to swing your sword(wii remote) like you are supposed to. You can just sit on your couch with your hand on your lap and move it a little and you are attacking. Of course there are parts where you have to do the things they want you to do, but most of the time you can cheat your way across... (and this is with all wii motion games tbh)

This is how I felt about Skyward Sword, against ALL ODDS, a Zelda game I refuse to finish :o:o

Best Zelda game? Link to the Past.

For the 3DS, I want a 2D Zelda game with gorgeous sprites and it should have co-operative play, similar to Secret of Mana. The basic story would be that in a peaceful Hyrule, Link, Zelda and possible someone else go on a quest to investigate the rumours of Ganon's return.

Ganon coming back has been done a lot before but I think that plot can still be done in a way where it seems fresh and mysterious.

I think the 3DS deserves at least two Zelda games. I'd take the idea you have...I'd also take a Majora's Mask redo ala OoT.

I'd LOVE a sequel to ALTtP....or OoO/MM but I want that on the WiiU.

On a side note: I'll actually be able to play Skyward Sword now that I'm getting a WiiU. Yeeees!

I agree with that - sounds good. If they'd do a MM redo, then perhaps they can add addtional content such as a Master Quest-style difficulty level right from the beginning.

Maybe a ALTtP sequel can be my idea... :oldrazz:

for the 3DS, i would love a MM remake with no timer and a new zelda with skyward sword graphics.

Aren't there rumors of A Link to the Past remake?

Skyward Sword to me was the weakest. I've played every "main" Legend of Zelda game since I played the first in 1990, and the subsequent when they were released. Skyward Sword, really had some repetitive stuff, in it, poorly designed world, felt too linear.

Now having said that is it a bad game? No, it's still a great game, just compared to many other Zelda games I'd say it's right above The Adventure of Link, which is my lowest. I felt they tried to do something too different with Skyward and it just never works out, same with Wind Waker. I would rank them like this.

1. Ocarina of Time
2. A Link to the Past
3. The Twilight Princess
4. The Legend of Zelda
5. Majora's Mask
6. Wind Waker
7. Skyward Sword
8. The Adventures of Link

I think they should look back to OOT and really get a feel on how to create such a wonderful world/dungeons. OOT felt so unique and still does, just great lay out, felt like a massive world. The problem with Twilight Princess was it felt way too small, mainly so they could layer two types of worlds on top of each other. But still I hope they take lessons from this.

Skyward Swords biggest problem was just it's motion control. I mean I finished the game, and liked it. But I just never felt like I did with previous Zelda games. The motion control really actually made many of the new items weak, and just never felt cool for some reason. I would fight with the motion control way too much. I think games like Mario Galaxy worked with it, but this sure did not.

I hope with the next one they take advantage with the new system and hardware, and make a very large game, something inspired by OOT. With lots to do, and fun stuff all around. The mini games in Skyward Sword were just weak.

Well enough of my rant, I hope Zelda U rocks the house.

EDIT: Funny thing is if you watch GT's review of Skyward Sword, even though they give it a 9.1 or something when you listen to the review, it sounds like they want to give it a 8.0 or something. But in honesty their criticism of the actual game are pretty spot on.

The only reason I didn't like Skyward Sword was because, while the WiiMotion+ controls were supposed to add to the experience, it made a game feel like work. Those controls were far too unresponsive half the time.

I agree 100%, they were not good controls, and took away from what Zelda is about, It's not about accurate swinging of a sword, it's about the tools and adventure aspect. But the motion controls was just one part of the problem. The boss battles were actually very easy, the end boss was really easy compared to Gannon and others in the past. .

But what pissed me off the most was the linear feel, we only went to 3 different types of places, desert, lava, forest. There was not enough variety. The world was just poorly designed and I had no desire to explore it that much.

What angered me more was the heavy repetition. The silent realm stuff, the finding of the three songs, and the fighting back the giant monster thing three different times, fighting the demon lord three times. There was just a repetitiveness throughout the game. It's like they had no ideas what to do, so the rehashed it, and said let's play hide and seek? You like that right? To a point it just felt uninspired at times.

I know I have a lot of flaws with it, still a fun romp, but agitating. It actually took me longer then most Zelda games, not because of difficultly but the filler repetitive missions that were in the same place all the time. There was just so little to explore in it.

And that video you posted it very funny/accurate.

At least you finished it...

Behold, what many felt to be a great Zelda, among one of the best, and it was the 1st EVER Zelda I have not finished, and don't want to finish.

I tihnk some were more swept by the hype or never played some of the older ones. I'm sure some really do like it that have played most and were not swayed by hype, but I don't get it.

I always have to finish a Zelda game, but half way through it felt like a chore. It had a pretty emotional (for Zelda) ending.

But, ya I'm glad the pad will at least eliminate motion control for the next Zelda, yes the pad can do motion control but not holding it like a stupid sword lol. I want to go back and play OOT now though lol.

I'm also glad I never played this in front of anyone. It would look ridiculous, especially for the stupid Skyward strike, I would yell at my Wii for it to work lol.

I never had a problem with the motion controls. They could be frustrating at times (especially the octopus-like boss on the ship where you had to skyward strike all the time). But I never found them so off-putting that I couldn't finish.

My biggest problem was the linear nature of the game. It made the game feel small. Solidus, you say you thought TP was small, but it was huge compared to SS. I played TP after SS, and was astounded at how much potential SS missed as a Wii game.

Zelda needs some new blood. Every console game has been based on the Ocarina of Time engine (great engine, don't get me wrong, but it hasn't evolved much). Still no voice acting (I'm not talking about Link talking, I mean all the other characters who only get soundbytes). Gameplay is still as linear as hell... maybe even more so.

And the plots haven't evolved much either.

Probably why Majora's Mask was one of my favorites games. Some damn originality.

I just hope Nintendo gets a bit more adventurous with the next game.

I'd like some voice acting brought into the series... Unless Link is little kid Link. If that's the case he either has to be mute or voiced by the best child voice actor ever.

Annoying little kid Link could be the word.

I think voice acting could really improve the series. Make characters more... alive, make gameplay more engaging (enemies taunting, communicating, etc). Cutscenes would be more cinematic...

Kondo even said he wanted to do some music with singing and chorus for the series.

If done well, of course. But why shouldn't it be? Not like Nintendo doesn't have the resources.
