Official, "Bow to Von DOOM" thread

joined hoping to find one, but after searching around was dissapointed to see the Glory of DOOM not worshipped in a thread, so I figured I'd start one for my favorite character in comics:

I always thought it was strange that he called himself Doom instead of von Doom. Technically, his full surname is von Doom. In fact, wasn't "von" added to the surnames of royalty & nobility so they could be differentiated from the commoners? (ie. the Hauser family are commoners, but the von Hauser family is descended from royalty)

I like to think that Doom calls himself Doom, because it sounds ****ing awesome. He doesn't work for me as a realistic character with tragic backstory (the name Von Doom). He's a guy who builds robot copies of himself, has his own country, walks around in an iron mask and calls himself Doctor Doom. Because he can. (Just like Batman breathes in space. He stops being awesome and starts become ridiculous when you view him as a real person. see Batman Begins)

i've always thought it ridiculous he gave himself an alias. i've never seen him as the type to refer to himself as "Doctor" Doom ever.

that's why i titled it, realistically I'd imagine he'd refer to himself by his name...as much as he loves himself he wouldn't need an alias.

and the Books of Doom were a good take, he could be realistic no problem.
