I rather liked the first Cable arc, and I'm glad I stuck with it. It was a pretty entertaining and interesting ride, and while the little end of it is something of a deus ex machina, it fits and works.

There's a deeper level to the story, especially present in the last issue, and that makes Swierczynski's (I think I spelled that right) writing even better.

I actually recently fell in LOVE with Deadpool. I find him completely hilarious and endearing (don't ask me how).

I'm slowly making my way through his solo series and I've picked up a few issues of other series that he was in. Can anyone rec specific issues that are NOT his solo series that I should take a look at?

5 issues in to this new Cable series and I'm already bored. I thought it would be more interesting than this. Cable shoots people, baby cries. Cable shoots more people, baby keeps crying... zzz.... :(

Aww, I thought it was good (although I do sometimes wonder what the writer/artist is/are doing with Bishop's mutant power). The pacing was fine, it had its mystery, and I thought the dual narrative of Cable and Bishop was a nice touch, making Bishop more than just "oh yeah, and Bishop's a bad dude now."

It probably could have been just four issues. Hopefully stuff will get more "put together" as the issues progress. But the 5th issue was the strongest, no doubt, if only because it drove the point about Cable home. As far as writers go, Swierczynski might have one of the strongest holds on what Cable is all about, and who he is.

Cable #6 will arrive in stores on August 6 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Duane Swierczynski, with art by Ariel Olivetti and Michel Lacombe, a cover by Adi Granov and a Monkey variant by Rob Liefeld.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"After the status quo-shattering Messiah CompleX, Cable found himself on the run through time with the new mutant child and now the X-Men make a move to aid him! Cable #6 is the story of a father and son separated by generations, but sharing the same mission -- saving mutantkind. In the present, Cyclops looks for a sign that he made the right decision, while in the future, his son Cable is still on the run from his former ally Bishop. What will Cyclops & The X-Men do to help Cable? Will it be enough? And will he come to regret it?"

Cable #6 will be 48 pages and will cost $3.99

Someone please explain to me why that baby isn't flying out of that holster.

Duct tape. Or: super glue.

On another note, holy crap. Talk about hitting the ground running. Literally, in Cable's case. And with a blown knee. And what happened to Bishop's metal arm?

Sweet.

Not God's, no no.

Just ask Michael Westen about duct tape.

what is up with the Liefield cover? I swear Ive seen it before. Where is he getting the inspiration for this from/

Edited to add: I had a feeling but its none other than New Mutants 87

*iz still ded from merely the mention of Michael in a conversation*

Don't DO that. I have to prepare myself for mention of teh Sex. You can't spring a specimen of deliciousness like Jeffrey Donovan on a girl without a little warning. Sheesh.

I love it. Its my favorite X-title after Uncanny

Deadpool's solo arc "Funeral for a Freak" made me sad/giggle.

Two words...

No pickles.

Also, I really want to know just was "aspect" of his personality that was supposed to be. Surr-iously.

Oh my gosh, I think that's a point we agree on. Although Legacy, lately, trumps Uncanny for me.

If anything, Choi's artwork pushed Uncanny up over Legacy, because Choi's Colossus is just orgasmtastic. The story was okay, but it wasn't Brubaker's best work.

But yeah, Cable =

Haha, well I guess there's a first for everything. Overall Ive been enjoying Brubaker's work on UXM since he joined and since MC ended, the title has been great and only looks to be getting better. Im a fan of Cable so Im glad to finally see him in his own book again as I couldnt read C&D bc of DP. The art is good here and Im liking his story. It hasnt disappionted me yet although I can see why its not for everyone

You know, glancing over the preview for the next issue, it really makes me appreciate Olivetti's panel breakdowns more. I love them.

Anyone else notice the X-baby looks like Jean Grey?
if Cable is actually raising the reincarnation of his mom then it is the perfect topper to the Freudian quagmire that is the Summers family.

Originally, the baby was supposedly not looking anything like Jean. Slowly but surely, it's become the case that she does. Last issue, with the phoenix in her eyes, I mean, c'mon. Anyone who hadn't figured out there was a memo circulating should've gotten the memo after that.

How awesome would it be if it WASN'T Jean?

Like...the writers just come out on the last page of some issue and are like "Take that, fan!*****es.
