How come everyone I face always waits a while to put up a debate then starts debating and then puts one up at like midnight so I can't make a rebuttal? I feel so ripped-off :(

Well, Iceman Psylocke did the same thing to me this week, so I am sure it wasn't intentional to either of us. I/P was probably busy and just couldn't get the debates up sooner.

Sorry dudes. :csad:

Rather than just being busy I had a couple of personal issues and didn't really have the enthusiasm to debate much this week. Once I eventually read through Death's Head II's bio and ky's debate they became a great distraction from other issues so I really got into both of them and decided to go for it. On top of that the Dark Beast debate took me absolutely ages to write. It's certainly nothing personal against anyone or an intentional way of trying to steal an advantage. I came in here to let you know that I'd put up a late debate and I made a request for debating time to be extended in case you guys wanted it and I also said I wouldn't respond to any further rebuttals out of courtesy. So short of simply never debating after Monday evening (UK time) I'm not sure what else I can do, especially if I have a weekend with problems like the one I just had.

I'm also going to have much less time when I change jobs in the near future (I'm setting up a new company) so putting up debates at unpredictable times (sometimes last minute) is something I'll need to do if I want to continue in this competition. Already it does feel a bit of a burden at certain times to have to put up an opening debate as early as possible (nearly every week) and then to ensure any rebuttals are also posted very quickly. If you include the 2 hours of reading and thinking time during voting, this takes up a lot more of my time than I was anticipating before the competition began.

Making general posts on the Hype and debating in this competition aren't the same thing as there are no obligations involved with posting and you can take a break whenever you want. In my current job it's possible to get away with making quick posts on the Hype and keeping a browser window open most of the time but reading bios of comic characters and putting up long debates on which comic characters would win in a fight is something I have to be very careful about and it simply can't be done if anyone is looking over my shoulder. :(

I've tried to explain my situation above but that does not mean to take away from the fact that I am sorry that my lateness has prevented you from being able to debate your character fully. :csad:

To finish on a positive note I will say that while this competition did at first feel like a burden this weekend, once I started getting into the characters and debates, I was very grateful to have it as it made me feel a lot better.

Well, Iceman, you're usually really good at getting debates in at a good time, and you always let me know if you need a bit more time with voting. It's not a problem in my view, and you are staying within the rules.

Thanks :yay:, although I don't want to upset other players so I'll do my best to get things up more quickly.

To be honest, you're not the worst offender for this, you got your debates in the night before, some people (not naming names) wait till about an hour before the threads close which IS taking the piss. :cmad:

It doesn't matter to me its just 1) I was pissed off yesterday 2) this happened to me twice before when I saw the person posting in other threads days before they made a midnight rebuttal and 3) I'm not able to respond cause I have school till 4 somtimes even 6 and I can't get a rebuttal up.:(

PS. I know it's a bit early but next season we need the Big Hero 6 in this tourney ;)

For those interested, I just wanted you all to know that MileHigh is having a great deal right now. Just sign up for their mailing list, and you will get their discount codes. Currently, they have the discount at 50% off their already low prices. You can get comics as low as 90% off their regular price. Yesterday, I bought 278 comics...and, today, I wanted to get the Arak collection. 47 issues (3 I could find cheaper, I believe, on mycomicship, since mile high probably only had one copy) and the one annual for about 50 cents an issue.

Mile High only has this low of a price about twice a year. Scoop up those hard to find back issues now. It's amazing to think I can get at least 5 comics for the price I pay for one comic today at my comic shop.

278 in one go!

That's quite a lot to a normal person :woot:

I'll check out Mile High although I have hardly any space left for more comics. :(

Oh, absolutely no problem at all. I wasn't in anyway upset or offended by it. I didn't mean to sound like I was either. I just let Hellstormer know that it wasn't just his match, but all your matches, which most likely meant that you had things of other importance, as oppossed to just forgetting/putting it up at the last minute on purpose.

Sorry if I came off as judgemental, but I definately did not intend to. I know that you always get your debates up as early as possible, and you enjoy getting as much out of rebuttals as anyone else. Also, thank you anyway for letting both me and Hellstoremer knwo that you were going to be putting up your dfebates a little alter than usual.

Also, I hope the new job you will be going to works out for the best. (and if it does, and it's publicly traded you got to let us know so we can buy some stock :woot: )

Is this just on comics, or does it include TPBs as well???

Thanks buddy :yay: and it was mainly for Hellstormer's benefit as he seemed a bit annoyed earlier (not anymore though). As for the company going public, that would be ideal. I'll have to save you a few share options if you continue debating so well  :cmad: :woot:

So I was reading a few old Hulk comic books (from the late 70s and 80s) and I am amazed at how much he has changed.

Before he really was portrayed at 7' whereas now he is in the 9' range. Plus he is so inconsistant with what he does.....I must say it was realtively intriguing.

I don't know, to me it does kind of makes sense.

Think about it, wolverine has had so many power upgrades over the years that he is now essentially immortal. Hulks powers are essentially strength, size and his healing factor. Since characters powers tend to develop over time it makes sense that hulks powers would grow. Hence the size increase

other than that...I got nothing :o

I do get the power upgrades and such and quite uderstand that he has grown to make him more 'monstrous'.

I am just surprised how he was written so inconsistently back then.

Anyways, my favourite incarnation of him is the curent version. I also liked the merged Hulk before the retconn.

My favourite incarnation was during the original secret wars. The whole concept of him getting his genius intellect back and then slowly having to watch it slip away seemed extremely poigniant

That was good and I remember that...the comics I was reading actually has him getting a presidential pardon following Banner taking over the Hulk's mind.

Quite cool actually and the anectdote is Strange feeling that he has lost his team mate as a result.

Voting Is Over!!!

(Lower turn out this week. You can tell the holidays are upon us. Remember, we're having a week off. Hopefully, we get a good amount of us back the following week; otherwise, we might have to make an executive decision. It will actually be kind of dull not debating and voting for a week.)

So... what have you guys bought everyone for christmas... how many of it was for "Them" but you plan on utilizing more than them :)

I mostly bought for my little brother and sister.... and I bought my little brother X-Men Legends. Yeah, that was for the both of us ;)

And I also want to comment that my wife is the luckiest Home Depot employee alive. Last christmas they had a drawing and she won a big screan tv (52 inch). Then they had another drawing later and she won a personalized autograph by Cincinnati Bangal's Coach Marvin Lewis, then a few months back they had another drawing and she won a smaller flatscrean tv, then a few days ago we had this years christmas party and she won a laptop with a printer/scanner! Merry Christmas to her (me ;))

Wow, that's one of those bittersweat matches. It's awsome that one of your great characters are advancing onto round 3, but you're also losing a great character automatically.

Wow...we've gone crazy with spending no gifts this year. My boy will be getting Nintendo Wii and about six games, PS3 and 2 games, (I still have to find him a Seahawk Black Shadow Jersey), my daughter is going to have a bunch of stuff that is suitable for a 4 year old girl, like Strawberry Shortcake, Barbie Fairytopia, new sheets for her bed, movies, all much more. I got my mom Dead Like Me season 2 (we loved season 1) and a special musical bear, got my ex quite few things, including Sirius Radio with a paid subscription...that's what comes to mind. I think the only thing left to get is stocking stuffers.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I might go with Ares, simply for the fact that people with Mind Control usually get votes against them because of the nature of their abilities. Many hate characters that can possibly take a match without really having to do anything.

My mom bought my brother and sister a Playstation 2 (yeah, we're too poor to get the new stuff :)). I bought my brother X-Men Legends, so he'll be in heaven with all that. We also bought them a couple CD Players, some clothes, some random toys, etc. With my mom and stepdad getting divorced, there wasn't a lot of money to dish around for them, so my wife and I decided to not buy for each other and focus on them. My daughters each got some small things, but everyone's buying for them, so we justified it. My mother-in-law alone brought about 5 bags worth of presents over for them.

All in all we had a potentially bad christmas and made it good for all the kids. I'm excited. Now I just can't wait to play X-Men Legends. I played it once for a few hours and have always wanted to play it again, and actually play it full out. Now I'll have the chance!
