Switch version due out worldwide in late July.

Fate-Extella-Switch_06-13-17.jpg

XSEED Games has released the E3 2017 trailer and screenshots for the Switch version of Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star.

Here’s an overview of the game, via XSEED:
Story
The Moon Cell Automaton is a spiritron computer, which exists on the moon and has the power to grant any wish. All across the spiritron-constructed virtual world, SE.RA.PH., Servants and the Masters who control them fight for the right to be the Moon Cell Automaton’s one owner in a ceremonial conflict known as the Holy Grail War.
Now, the Servant Nero Claudius and her Master have won the Holy Grail War and have obtained the universal wishing mechanism, the Holy Grail.

They also obtained the Regalia, a ring that proves their kingship. With it, they rule over their once-enemy Servants and start a new beginning on the moon’s new world.
But a new enemy has appeared before them. And this enemy has something that shouldn’t exist: another Regalia.

Fate Heads for a New Stage!
The famous Fate series now strikes a path to a new stage with the newest title, Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star. Many fan-favorite characters, including the ancient Heroic Spirits (Servants) summoned by the Holy Grail, make their appearances, with the series being reborn as a high-speed combat-oriented title in which players face off against the enemy and their army in exciting large-scale action scenes. Players can also take some time to enjoy the deep storyline the Fate series is known for.

Key Features

  • Outfit Servants in Outstanding Costumes – Following a successful launch on the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system, the Nintendo Switch version comes loaded with 35 previously-released paid DLC costumes, along with an exclusive new Unshackled Bride outfit.
  • A Variety of Fate Universes Collide – Not just Fate/Extra Servants, but characters from Fate/stay night, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Grand Order, and other Fate continuities make their appearances here. Players can enjoy the action with the original Japanese voice-overs and English subtitles.
  • A Brand-New Story from Acclaimed Series Author, Nasu Kinoko – As the original creator of Fate/stay night and the scenario writer of Fate/Extra, Nasu Kinoko has created a completely new scenario for Fate/Extella, evolving his highly celebrated universe and characters with a story told from the independent perspectives of three heroine Servants.
  • A New Way to Battle – As the first action game in the Fate series, players will finally be able to control a Servant and perform various moves, including a powerful form change ability to transform Servants. Engage in intense battles on the ground or in mid-air to annihilate enemy forces!
Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star will launch for Switch on July 20 in Japan, July 21 in Europe, and July 25 in North America.

PC version launching alongside Switch version.

Fate-Extella-PC-Ann_07-05-17.jpg

Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star will launch for PC via Steam worldwide alongside Switch in North America on July 25, XSEED Games announced.

The PC version will cost $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99. The game itself will be sold at a 10 percent off launch discount, and all of the downloadable content at 20 percent off, from July 25 to July 31.
The Switch version of Fate/Extella will cost $59.99 and includes over 30 previously released paid downloadable content costumes, along with the exclusive new “Unshackled Bride” outfit. In Europe and Australia, the Switch version will launch on July 21.

Here’s an overview of the game, via XSEED:

Developed by Marvelous Inc. and expanding upon the extensive Fateuniverse with an original story from acclaimed series writer Kinoko Nasu (of Fate/stay night fame), Fate/Extella features a diverse cast of 16 playable “Servants” – ancient warriors of legend and imagination, always at the beck and call of their Masters – who survived the Holy Grail War that took place on the Moon. In a future watched over by the all-powerful lunar super computer, “Moon Cell Automaton,” these champions now battle for dominance over this digital realm, known as “SE.RA.PH.” This story takes place after the events described in Fate/Extra, and depicts the world as it appears following that previous Holy Grail War.

Players will experience the story of Fate/Extella from the independent perspectives of the three factions wrestling for control over SE.RA.PH. and face off against foes from a variety of Fate productions, including characters from Fate/Extra, Fate/stay night, Fate/Zero, Fate/Apocrypha, and Fate/Grand Order, in fast-paced combat. A new form change battle mechanic called Moon Crux debuts in this entry to match its series-first gameplay style, transforming the player-controlled Servants and granting them considerable powers that allow them to devastate enemies and take formidable challenges head-on. The game will contain the original Japanese voices, with the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC versions featuring game text in English, Japanese, Chinese (Traditional), and Korean.

Fate/Extella is developed by Marvelous Inc. and is published in North America by XSEED Games. In addition to standard retail and digital formats for the Nintendo Switch version, the game is available on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita systems in a limited Noble Phantasm Edition bundle, which contains a 7.5” by 6.3” hardcover art book featuring over 100 pages of high-quality artwork and backstory from the Fate/Extella universe, a pack of sixteen collectible 3” by 5” cards depicting each of the game’s Servants, and a 24” by 17” cloth poster, all housed in a custom collectible box. The PlayStation 4, PS Vita system and Nintendo Switch versions of this title have been rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB. The Windows PC version of the game is not rated by the ESRB.

Fate/Extella is currently available for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

? System

? New Action System
Active Skills: Freely Unleash Various Skills
“Active Skill” is a new action that lets you use powerful attacks and ability strengthening. Set Active Skills in the skill slots ahead of time to trigger them at any time during battle. However, once an Active Skill has been activated, it will take some time to activat it again. Active Skills are acquired as Servants level up.

A maximum of four Active Skills can be set. In addition to various effects such as attacking and recovery, there are also class specializations. For example, Sabers specialize in close-range attack skills.

Fate-Extella-Link_2018_02-16-18_010.jpg
Class specializations include:

  • Saber: Strengthens “Close-Range Attack Skills”
  • Lancer: Strengthens “Rush Attack Skills”
  • Rider: Strengthens “Rush Attack Skills”
  • Berserker: Strengthens “Vicinity Attack Skills”
  • Archer: Strengthens “Long-Range Attack Skills”
  • Caster: Strengthens “Firing Attack Skills”
  • Assassin: Strengthens “Close-Range Attack Skills”
  • Ruler: Strengthens “Vicinity Attack Skills”
Here are some of the skills that Servants can use:
—Strengthen Skill: “Pseudo Hero Sycophancy” – Summons the “Radiant Swords,” incarnations of the Twelve Paladins, to the back for a fixed period of time. The Radiant Swords will automatically attack in combination with standard attacks.

Fate-Extella-Link_2018_02-16-18_011.jpg

—Close-Range Attack Skill: “Lumiere Du Soleil” – Collects and condenses the power of the five major elements to “Joyeuse” and unleashes a full-power mow-down attack.

—Crowd Control Skill: “Trap of Argalia” – Mows down enemies with a “Golden Lance.” It turns the legs of the enemies it hits incorporeal and stuns them.

—Counter Skill: “Luna Break Manual” – An attack that wraps pieces of the “Luna Break Manual” around the user for a fixed period of time. While it is active, it negates incoming attacks while unleashing powerful counter attacks.

—Vicinity Attack Skill: “Golden Anchor” – Summons three anchors from the sky that drop down on enemies.
—Close-Range Attack Skill: “Dance Macabre” – A wild dance attack that slashes enemies with a Cutlass while moving forward.

—Crowd Control Skill: “Sewing Thorns of Divine Death” – Throws the user’s spear forward, which splits and extends. It sews the enemies it hits to space and stuns them.

—Vicinity Attack Skill: “Ultimate Rune: Fire” – Uses the Ultimate Rune to generate three pillars of fire in front of the user.

—Close-Range Attack Skill: “Fevens Ardeo” – The user leaps from the spot where it is activated and strikes the ground with a sword to cause an explosion.

—Recovery Skill: “Sunshower” – Generates a recovery field with the user at the center. The HP of allies in the field will gradually recover.

—Close-Range Attack Skill: “Extra Link” – A powerful, three-strike attack that projects and switches between the three swords “Durandal,” “Joyeuse,” and “Ultimate Flame” one after the other.

Rush: Hit the Enemy with a Final Blow
You can weaken enemy Servants by hitting them with consecutive attacks and Active Skills. When they are in that state, use the Active Skills that the class of the player-controlled character specializes in on the opponent to activate a “Rush”!

Not only can you hit the enemy with major damage through consecutive attacks, either one of the two power-up items “Attack Power-Up Item” or “Attack Speed-Up Item” will definitely drop, allowing you to continue the battle with an advantage.
Fate/Extella Link is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan on June 7.
