With all the buzz around SuperMax, it's about time we get an official casting thread. Do you agree with the rumors that Matt Damon should portray Arrow? Or do you have your own choice?

Personally, I like Thomas Haden Church for the part.

If "other", please elaborate.

Damon is far to big to play Green Arrow in my book he needs a better roll
but oh well i picked THC he's got the look and hes a good actor

i would go with other, i just dont know who yet.

Church would be awesome if they did Ollie's current age in the books but they're going to be more likely to cast an actor in Bale's (34) and Routh's (28) age range*

I can't see Leary in this role at all, no matter how leftist and sarcastic he is it'd be like casting Dennis Miller as Tony Stark

*Not that I'm saying there's going to be a linked Justice League movie just that all these characters are in early points of their careers

Hausar would make a great super-hero. Not sure which one.

I dont know. I think with the plot of this movie I could see an older Ollie being used. I mean, he's supposed to be an established hero.

That's what I'm thinking.

In my opinion, "Smallville" is doing a great job of giving us a young Ollie, so I would really like to see at least a 30-something Ollie in this movie - a departure and something different from what we already have.

1) Leary

2) Ethan Hawke

I choose other. Is it really him escaping from a prison? Cause well that sounds lame, not saying it can't be cool just the concept sounds dumb.

He's escaping from a prison designed to hold super powered beings, and the prison itself has powers itself.

Its a prison for meta-humans. Some characters who will be there are Captain Nazi, the Tatooed Man, Icicle, Amanda Waller and more.

What DC comic fan wouldn't want to see that?

But why is he inside trying to get out? Are they going to introduce him first? Is it Ollie Queen at least?

Apparently the first like 15-20 minutes of the movie are going be establishing him as the hero and then showing how he got framed and railroaded into the prison. Check out the other thread on this, there should be tons of info.

Would it be too much to ask Cary Elwes to get back into shape for the role?

GA is framed by Merlyn for murder.

He gets sent to Supermax after being convicted.

Ollie needs to escape the prison then clear his name.

They'll show some of his GA heroics in the beginning and after he escapes. They may show key points in his origin during the movie.

Cary Elwes for Golden/Silver Age Ollie,
Kevin Costner for Later Ollie.

Waller the Whale is a normal unaugmented human woman, who worked her way to the position of leading Suicide Squad through a series of civillian desk jobs, and never so much as went through boot camp. It would have been like putting Gordon Gekko in Calipatria. (Not that she doesn't deserve to be the way she's written up, but Uncle Sam tends to send non personallly violent offenders to Club Fed, even if at those desk jobs they comitted treason, graft, bribe taking, extortion, and diversion of government porperty and/or labor for personal and political purposes.

After all, look at G. Gordon Liddy.

Ben:

I know who Waller is. The fact she is unaugmented yet still powerful enough just with intelligence to make meta-human heroes and villains scared to death of her makes her very interesting to me.

Waller must have had some training from some intelligence agencies like the CIA or NSA to get where she is. They don't include average civilians for that work.
