So, who do you guys think drew Green Goblin the best? My two faovrites are Steve Ditko and John Romita Sr.s' Green Goblin. I also really liked Ross Andru and Sal Bucemas' Green Goblin.

Care to post pictures?

I'm not sure about the artist i.d., but I did like how he was drawn in the (1st?) Marvel Knights story arc, with all the 12 issues. With recent reveals of him fully uniformed in Thunderbolts, I like the style there too (Deodato artist?)

And I'm undoubtedly in the minority here, but I liked how crazy the Goblin looked in Humberto Ramos' drawings from the Death in the Family plotline (which also had writing/story I liked).

And I utterly love the animated Spectacular look; speaking of cartoons, the animated 90's look was great too.

Ross Andru's Green Goblin (Harry Osborn)

Also, greedyslayer, the artist of Marvel Knights Spider-Man was Terry Dodson. He's an awesome artist and he drew a great Green Goblin.

Oh, those are awesome samples of the artists' work! ^____^

Ah, Terry Dodson...I really do need to get the hardcover collection of that series.

Indeed, he also did the art for "Spider-Man: The Evil that Men do", which was a great story by Kevin Smith. His wife, (Rachel Dodson) inked the book.

I like John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru's Goblins the best.

oh I'm also a fan of the Spectalur Spider-man Green Goblin's look.

Steve Ditko by far. Especially in The Man in the Crime-Master's Mask. That's my favorite Spidey story.

My faovrite Green Goblin stories are his first appearance, The Crime Master story, ASM Issue #'s 39-40, The Night Gwen Stacy died, the Death of Harry Osborn, and more!

I'm pretty sure it comes from PPSM #75.

Yup.

Hmmm...best Goblin artist? Blasphemous as it is, I didnt care for Ditko's art. I'm a much bigger fan of Mark Bagley, Sal Buscema (sp?) the Dodsons and Luke Ross.

Bagley...yes, his Goblin was awesome. Pretty sure I only saw it in that story where he's publicly outed...at the hands of Luke Cage and not in an actual Spidey title? XP Actually, the cool style annoyed me just a little bit, and only because, apparently, Bagely could've come up with a visually-appealing Goblin, instead of the Hulk Monstrosity they got in Ultimate Spider-Man's early days, and stuck with. (Where's. The. Glider!? You can't have the Green Goblin without his glider, you just can't!)

Why is that your favorite story?

I think it's because it was kind of when the Green Goblin was ripe. What I mean by that is that he was originally this mystery character who wore a mask and we didn't know who he was. His personality was simply the Green Goblin. I love ASM #39 and 40. Reprints of those two issues are what brought me into this hobby actually. But even though they were great, they also took something away from the Goblin. From that point on, he was Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin was just a mask. I liked that the Green Goblin sort of had his own personality before that. He was sort of a devilish imp. Very cunning, very evil, and he needed to be. Just like Peter Parker had a pathetic quality to him, that he was just a kid with problems, The Green Goblin couldn't achieve his goals and he couldn't get people to take him seriously.

I also like the pulpish crime element of that story. The Crime-Master is very cool. I think it's very cool that this is a character that really had the dibs on The Green Goblin and could have been a major player, if things had taken a different turn. That's interesting to me. I like the crime stories best and I think this is one of the best. It's also one of the stories you can tell that Ditko really brought his A game too. And I love the way Ditko drew the Green Goblin.

That one reason is why I never collected Ultimate Spider-Man.

Now I want to see it. :yay:

All your wonderful description of the Goblin originally being a mystery character with his own personality makes me think of what they're doing with him in Spectacular Spider-Man, and why I love him so much. I mean, even if he does turn out to be UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE SPOILER
Harry first, not Norman
...I can still cope, hell, won't even mind, because the awesomeness of the Green Goblin personality is so independent and divorced from everyone else, it won't be deeply affected by i.d. quibbles. (And I'm just amused by people not taking him seriously at first glance--I want to see more of that, flashbacks at least.)

I'm very curious about this Crime-Master, and alternate turns he could've taken.

Yup.

Well, to each his own. Mark Bagley sure did a great job drawing the Green Goblin.

I just thought I'd drop in to say that GG is still my favoritist supervillain evar .

Luv u norman.

(The slang is sarcastic. The  is not.)

I'm shocked...
I saw no mention of Deodato Jr.and John Romita Jr.

I love the way both draw him.

Touche. Deodato is a hell of a Goblin artist, just see the previous pages. Ditto on Romita Jr.

This is my favorites of Green Goblin fanart kept together:

I do want to find more and expand it later, though.

"But even though they were great, they also took something away from the Goblin. From that point on, he was Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin was just a mask."

It was an interesting view, but I tend to disagree: I believe it's the other way around. www.spideykicksbutt.com pointed it out to me first, and it rang true to me: that Norman is the mask, and the Green Goblin is the true identity. Or, y'know, when various fact sheets say Norman Osborn is the Green Goblin, that 'is' turns into something stronger, it doesn't properly express how much Norman is tangled up with the Green Goblin persona, to the point that Norman is nothing but the Goblin, 'Norman' is unecessary to the Goblin. It's just--I think of Norman, I think of the Green Goblin more.
