DACMAN, that picture is fantastic. As I once said, that issue of Thunderbolts was kick ass.

Personally, I wonder if he even cares about that anymore. His desire to be king of the mobs seems to have been totally replaced by his sadistic fascination with Spider-Man. If Peter were to die, what would Norman do with himself?

I've often wondered that myself.

So you're saying Spider-Man completes the Green Goblin..? (:oldrazz:)

You're not alone, King of Kings. Let's not forget how much impact the Green Goblin has made on Peter's life.

Very true, GG went through all the trouble to find out who Spidey was and to me GG doesn't want to kill Spidey he just wants Spidey to suffer.

There was a story-I think it was in the MK series-where at the end of a huge struggle, Norman sent Peter a note basically telling him "I hope I haven't broken you". Spidey has ALWAYS completed the Goblin. Remember how mad he got after the unmasking? His reaction was like, how dare you reveal yourself to the world? Your identity belongs to me and me alone!

Come to think of it, Joker abandoned his quest to take over the underworld, too.

Actually, I gotta disagree. Why? Marvel Knights Spider-Man issue 12.

I haven't read any issue of Marvel Knights, mainly cause my local comic book store ain't the greatest store ever.

Absolutely. :woot:

Thats what makes a great enemy dynamic, imo. There is almost a relationship between them, for lack of a better word. They know so much about each other. Its not a good "relationship" but its a powerful one.

Yeah, he wrote the letter to Peter, thanking him for not letting him be a normal, boring businessman. Still doesnt mean he doesnt want Peter to suffer.

I loved that! Norman really is a sick, twisted psycho.

It also said that he loves him. I don't think that it's him making him suffer as much as he's just fricken crazy. He looks at Peter like a son, and he toys with him trying to mold him after himself. You guys remember spectacular Spider-Man vol 2 right? If you back up and look at the big picture, his plan isn't just "I'M GOING TO MAKE HIM SUFFER!" There's so much more to it. Not that it all makes sense, he's crazy. You can even see a hint of it in the first movie. The "join me" "trust me" "I've been a father to you" type stuff.

If you guys read Ultimate Spider-Man Bendis basically spells it out. He isn't very coy about the whole thing.

There's no argument that Norman sees Peter as the son he always wanted. But he's torturing Peter to punish him for rejecting his allegiance, & to make him see the error of his ways.

Seriously? Did you see the end fight scene? He actually says be a son to me now...

Oh but Norman is so manipulative (sp?) too

I am not disagreeing with you on Norman's sense of paternity to Spider-Man. But that "be a son" bit was to get him to drop his guard so Gobby could nail him with the glider. He also said:
"Parker must be educated. Make him suffer. Make him wish he were dead...and then grant his wish."
"This is why only fools are heroes!"
"Misery, misery, misery-that's what you've chosen. I offered you friendship, and you spat in my face!"

He really is up there with the Joker in terms of classic arch enemies. :gg: :bomb:

Yeah.. Right now, I can't think of any other supervillain as good as the Green Goblin*

*he's #2, after the Joker :woot: hmm perhaps I should try to come up with a top-5 of villains

Here is my list.

1. Joker
2. Luthor
3. Green Goblin
4. Dr. Doom
5. Magneto
