Gosling is not the spitting image of Hal yes, bu he is a brillant actor and i could see him pull off Jordan personnality :yay:

Gosling? Not exactly who I had in mind, but I think he's still solid choice.

Could this be the equivalent of a Heath pick for Hal?

We'd be extremely lucky if Gosling was picked for Green Lantern.

The picture of him in the Latino Review article looks pretty good for Hal Jordan--just needs to put some weight on. Obviously his face shape will always be on the thin side, but that's fine.

Gosling is a fine actor and an interesting choice, despite the fact that he doesn't physically exude some of the qualities I see Hal Jordan as having. Some weight gain, training, and a decent haircut might fix that, but I'm not sure.

I'm sure he would have no problem bulking up or getting toned up if he accepted the role as Hal in this origin story.

I agree....and with the excitement and buzz thats been generated on this project and it's script....he would be foolish not to accept the offer. IF an offer has truly been made to him that is.

That's high-pitched and whiny?

Yeah he sounds really boyish and nasal-y.

Ideal for the Flash, but not what I'm used to from how Hal is always voiced in his animated appearances.

There's barely any resemblence between Gosling and Hal anyway.

But we'll see if this even pans out.

This pick is very Ledger-ish, really.

An actor who everyone agrees has amazing talent but is so out of left-field that people are (kinda) confused about.

Is that a real GL shirt he is wearing or just an add on to the photo? It looks like just an add on obviously....but I have seen white GL tees around....

I confuse Microsoft Paint for real thing all the time...[/being an ass]

I like him as an actor, a lot. I see him more as Flash than Green Lantern, but it could work.

Oh...Oh....here we go with the nit picking nay sayers.

The same group that couldn't believe Ledger was cast as Joker.....:o

The difference with the Joker is his final look didnt even resemble Heath; loads and loads of makeup and prosthetics.

That made it work visually.

But Hal is Hal.

Around here many people wanted him as Flash but instead we get a rumour of him as Hal haha... I find that funny.

Bale as Batman, Routh as Superman, Worthington as Hal, and Gosling as Barry would have been perfect.

Gosling looks enough like Hal that I wouldn't be worried about that.

Whie nothing is confirmed, I like this casting.

Ryan Gosling is a genius choice for Hal Jordan. He's a brilliant actor, one of the best of his generation. Putting him in the leading role does the same thing as casting Christian Bale as Batman or Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark. It's showing that you're taking the film seriously, by casting a legit actor in the leading role. Gosling is a valued asset to any film he lends his services to, and whether or not he accepts the role, the fact that WB are going for actors of his calibre tells me they want to go about "Green Lantern" the right way.

I have said repeatedly that the filmmakers are probably going to go for a guy who's good enough to headline the film, so it isn't going to be a TV star or a lesser actor who happens to have the brown-haired, square-jawed Hal look. Gosling might not look exactly how we picture Hal, but he's got the talent to capture the spirit of the character and bring him to life for a wider audience. And he's one of these actors known for putting on/losing weight dramatically, and transforming for a role. I'm sure by the time shooting comes along, if he's cast, he'll be utterly convincing as Hal Jordan.

Forget the looks. Can he walk into a room and have any woman he wants? That's my litmus test. :D
