Not really. I'm not saying things "Marvel fans are blind to how mediocre their films are". I mean what the **** is that? It cements the stereotype that comic book fans, particular those with the whole DC vs Marvel thing going on, are pathetic.

So fanboy is only a derogatory term? You're just calling names?

And I haven't seen anyone say marvel fans are blind to how mediocre their films are.

Silly little DC fanboys, is what it is. And before anyone says i'm a Marvel fanboy, i actually read more DC comics than Marvel. And as you can see by my avatar, my favourite ever comic book series and character is DC.

Your a Marvel and your are lying through your teeth.

No, there is nothing wrong with being a fan. But the whole DC vs Marvel thing? Yea, i'm being derogatory about that. It's pathetic.

Good books are good books, good films are good films. Having a bias because they come from different companies is just... silly.

And DCmoviepage (the hints in the name...) is saying the fans are blind to the mediocrity and lack of depth or whatever.

In the case of Thor, there is plenty of depth. The romance is undercooked, sure. But the relationship between Thor, Loki and Odin is faultless. And the development of Thor and Loki is excellent. Especially Loki. I'm not a fan of Thor in the slightest, so I have no bias here.

Not at all. The only Marvel books i read are Deadpool MAX and Uncanny X-Force. The DC books I read are Batman and Robin, Batman Inc, Secret Six, Booster Gold, Emerald Warriors. Used to read REBELS until it was cancelled. And if you want to include Vertigo, Scalped and I, Zombie. And I consider Vertigo's Lucifer series my favourite ever comic book series.

I think the Marvel vs DC thing is pathetic. Like I said in my previous post, good books are good books. At the moment I think DC has more good books than Marvel. Marvel has been destroyed by Brian Bendis and his ilk. To have some kind of bias due to which company they come from is really quite sad.

I can see where you think i'm a Marvel though. I'm not endlessly praising everything about this Green Lantern movie. I guess it makes sense...

...actually, spider-man is more responsible for that than x-men. X1's influence on comic movies is heavily overrated, as much as I like that film. It was Spider-Man's massive success that truly opened the floodgates.

LIES!:cmad::argh:

Anyway, I'm pretty sure GL will do very well both critically and financially.

while I think there might be a preference, to obligately pit one comic book company against another is lame.

Please clarify what you mean when you say the word 'fanboy.' You were implying in your other post that you don't qualify as being a fanboy unless you hate on marvel (depending on what you're a fanboy of?)

Honestly, the only person I see doing that is morningstar, perhaps as some kind of defense mechanism, refusing to see anyone that disagrees with him as anything other than a 'fanboy.'

OK, how about "raging fanboy"?

Honestly, the only person I see doing that is morningstar, perhaps as some kind of defense mechanism, refusing to see anyone that disagrees with him as anything other than a 'fanboy.'

What? I don't care if people disagree with me. What have I said that is disagreeable with? That DC vs Marvel is pathetic? Well if you disagree with that... well then... ugh.

But when someone, like DCmoviepage, starts saying things like "fans are blind to the fact that Marvels films are just not that good" (paraphrasing) i'm gonna call them out on it.

The only way someone can attribute me being more Marvel than DC is because i'm not slavishly praising everything about this Green Lantern movie, or me criticizing Geoff Johns' recent writing in other threads. If that makes me a Marvel fanboy, heh, so be it.

How about people take some chill pills and settle down a bit. Constructive criticism is fine but lets not get bogged down in petty 'brand vs brand' nonsense. Whether you all like it or not, DC, Marvel, whatever film brand it is, no-one outside these walls cares, we're all lumped into the same mold by the masses and therefore what effects one film ultimately can effect the whole genre.

"FANBOY" Yes I am and proud of it.
"Marvelite" Yes I am and proud of it.
"DC" Gotta love'em. I do and proud of it. Good comics/Characters are good no matter what label they fall under. I have NOT missed a single hero movie that has been released. I will NOT miss thor today nor will I miss Green Lantern next month. This is my childhood "geekgasms" coming to life on the silver screen. I will support them ALL. That said, Hi , guys and dolls. Haven't spent as much time on this board as much as I'd like. You guys are great. Like being at a family reunion and listening to all the banter that goes back and forth. Pure funny.
Question if I may: In the most recent trailer at 21 seconds they show the female lantern "I think it's bodika?" In this trailer they have covered her entire midrif in green. In the wondercon trailer her midrif is bare. What's up with that? My first thought was oh'oh! Disney wagging it's finger as a no no. In my humble opinion
(which my wife will tell you counts for NOTHING) this movie is shaping up nicely.
(flash next; flash next! !):yay::yay:

Are we really doing the DC vs Marvel thing again? :whatever:

I really want to know what the haters exactly have against the movie. A while ago I heard someone assuming that Warner Brothers is intentionally trying to put as many characters in the movie as possible, they also assumed that Warner Brothers is only relying on the Green Lantern fan base so they could make money. It's pretty damn obvious that the movie is a mix of numerous and different genres.

For goodness sakes, of course Warner Bros is relying on the Green Lantern fan base to make money...just like every studio is relying on their adaptation's following to help them bring them money. It's called business.

Ugh, people are ridiculous. Not you, but the person who said that.

Nice post. :D

Yeah they covered her up. It may have been a decision by Campbell or WB, who knows.

Thats exactly the situation. Its very symbiotic (no pun intended).

nope. one guy says marvel movies are mediocre, and we get several patronizing lectures on marvel vs. dc is bad.

Meh. There's enough mediocrity on both sides that the argument is pretty moot.

No Superman, no Green Lantern? What are you doing here at this forum?

Not to interrupt all the important fighting, but in the new trailer (remember that:oldrazz:) what exactly is Hal hitting/aiming at with the flamethrower?
There’s really nothing there? Or is it the machinery in the back ground? Some kind of tank? Robot arms? Is that where they held Abin Sur’s body? What exactly is that? Is there anything actually moving there? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9dR8h0830Q&feature=player_detailpage#t=139s

My theory is it's after Parallax fails to possess Hal and he's spewing out the entity via a flamethrower construct. Parallax plus Krona equals a brown cloud monster basically.

Someone that I talk to from time to time said that people snickered and laughed at the new Green Lantern trailer before Thor started. He said that the trailer got the worst reactions. I say eff those people, those types of guys are without a doubt replaceable.

It was Ngila Grnt a character created for the film, and they covered her which kinda sucks. :yay:
