I dont get what you mean. Do you mean that the domino mask is stupid?

I'm glad he has the mask. People would complain even mire if he diet have it.

If he really wants to protect his identity he should create a construct cowl!

Well yeah, he's supposed to have a secret identity and that's how he keeps it in the comics. Why should they change that? Cant people suspend their disbelief for a domino mask?

Jeez, you guys might wanna skip Superman. He hides his identity.... *gasp* with a pair of glasses!

As far as the mask (are we really still rehashing this?) it's supposed to move with his expression so they couldn't have used a stiff plastic mask to shoot, since it would have eliminated that.
The stiff mask works for Batman who has one dead expression - scowl.

What they might have done for GL (and they tried) is hardened the edges more, made it sharper along the nose and eye ridges, so it didn't just look “cheaply” painted/photoshoped on as people say.

The biggest fault though IMHO was running the line at times almost straight across his forehead, to high above his brow. When it should implicitly follow even exaggerate the key expressive shape of the eyebrows. ^ ^
They tell everything as far as reading expression.
Instead they just eliminated them. Removing your eyebrows makes you look like a total blank faced dork! And that’s exactly what they got in some shots.
And Reynolds face doesn’t help. He’s a good looking guy, but eliminating your eyebrows will make anyone look blank moronic and vapid and that's what everyone sees.
Its one of the billion small details wrong, only with a huge effect in reading a face.

Of course none of this will save a bad script/story.

Are you kidding me? Plants supporting Thor and trying to poison Green Lantern?

WB were the ones that admitted the visuals looked bad and they were struggling to finish things and make deadlines.

I am willing to bet money that those were answers to loaded questions.

i will accept the domino mask .but it still looks as stupid as it could. its a f... domino mask. :awesome:

im getting more and more excited for this movie the more stuff comes out. i can't wait to see it.

I like how the mask looks in the new trailer.

What's this news on viral marketing? Where do we sign up and find out more about it?

Like someone else said, the domino mask would look alot better if the edges were sharper, like the nose and such. Still, it doesn't bother me that much.

I think that the reason its more important for gl to have better cgi than thor does is because the entire gl movie IS special effects. If the effects arent great then they take you out of the movie.

Eh, Thor had plenty of CG which were just as unimpressive. Took me out of the movie a bit, but it's far more important for the audience to simply enjoy the movie.

I actually thought most of the CGI in Thor was pretty good... the worst thing I noticed was when Destroyer's 'gate' resealed the first time.

The question I guess is what's the acceptable level? We're talking about strange creatures and suits made out of light here, not exactly easy things to make look real no matter how good the effects are, subconsciously our brains will always step in and tell us these things can't exist.

With a semi opaque mask that barely covers his face. It would have been far better just to leave it off.
If you can suspend your disbelief for light constructs and all that, why cant you do it for a domino mask, one of the most common things in superheroland?

Again, you might wanna skip Superman. He disguises himself with glasses. Are people in Metropolis blind or what? :awesome:

But certainly they can make em look fairly close to real, at least real enough that you never really think about how they arent real. Some examples ( for me at least ) are, King Kong, Davy Jones, and Gollum

Some things will never look real no matter how much detail is put into them. The only example I can agree with to an extent is Kong because he's basically a gorilla, the others though are still obviously CG characters because they can't exist and no matter how much rendering is done you're never going to trick the brain into thinking they're real. Story is the main player, if the story is good enough the fact they are CG characters really becomes secondary as in the case of Golllum, if it's weak and there's no substance there the fact they're CG becomes more apparent.

They still need to work on the mask. Ideally it would look as good as it does in the posters. But well, they still have time.

It's still kinda pointless considering there are other Lanterns who don't wear them. The domino mask is a relic that should have been done away with years ago.

Superman is really the only example of that working, and it's usually because the Clark Kent side is played differently, they're essentially two different people.

I like the mask in the comics. I don't think they should get rid of it. I think they need to make it look better in the movie, though. :P Hopefully the 9 million can fix that, right?

Other Lanterns live in different societies where it may not be necessary to conceal one's identity. Alternatively, some Lanterns have bodily structures that would make a mask non-functional. Certain species may be identified by scent or other bodily features in their respective cultures, and disguise those instead.

Additionally, conditions are a little bit different on Earth than they may be on other planets. Earth is barely conscious of the greater universe, and things might be very complicated for Hal Jordan if everybody knew he was a law enforcement agent of a foreign government claiming to have authority on Earth.

Honestly, though, I think the reason a lot of Lanterns don't have masks is simply because artists don't think the mask suits their features. A mask would look ridiculous on Kilowog, for example.

The domino mask is a relic that should have been done away with years ago.
I think the domino mask is completely awesome, and a great part of the design in the comics. Less so in the film, though--the shape they chose for it is a little weird. Not too bad, though.
