If we can buy The Comedian's and Ozy's domino masks, then we can buy Hal Jordan's. Green Lantern is a franchise where you have get on board and go' with it.

the other green lanterns don't wear mask because the rest of the galaxy knows about the gl corps. they are the law of the galaxy, they are space cops. it's an honor to be picked to serve them. on earth no one knows about the gl corps and hal jordan is the first human to become a gl. so he is more of a superhero to the people of earth. but to the rest of the galaxy he is just another gl.

The question I guess is what's the acceptable level? We're talking about strange creatures and suits made out of light here, not exactly easy things to make look real no matter how good the effects are, subconsciously our brains will always step in and tell us these things can't exist.
I gotta disagree. I'm one that's very picky of CGI, and I have no issues being convinced at realistic sfx, in spite of knowledge that it is fake. Transformers 1 blew me away, District 9's aliens impressed me, and Benjamin Button was glorious to watch.

So what is going on with this viral marketing?

Amanda Waller awnser me:

Evidence is a wonderful thing, and I'm pleased to hear there might actually be some for this so-called anomaly. Four kids with a telescope is one thing. Five kids with two telescopes is still not an emergency redirect of a multi-million dollar telescope, but it becomes more interesting.

If you're serious about this and have other friends with telescopes, you know what to do.

Someone said that Hal is the only Green Lantern that still wears a mask?

I wanted to make this post in the morning, but I was too busy at a fashion show/fundraiser. My brother went to see Thor in 3D-IMAX. He saw the Green Lantern Trailer in 3D and said that it would be a must to see the film in 3D-IMAX. One scene that he thought was pretty impressive was when the Sinestro Corps logo appeared. It seemed to pop out of the screen. He thought that was pretty cool. There were some other parts that looked good in 3D as well. My brother also recommended watching "Thor" in 3D as well ("the only way to watch it" as he said). All in all, his assessment of the crowd reaction to the Green Lantern trailer was that they felt that it was one of the films to watch his summer as well as "Captain America: The First Avenger". He was not too impressed with POTC, but he did think that the kids would enjoy "Cars 2" in 3D.

About my source, it is none other than 'Nelson' from Michael Bay's website (shootfortheedit.com).

What's this about a source?

The main supporter of a rival movie saying that test screenings that we haven't heard about were lackuster?

Sounds legit.

To be honest, this Nelson guy is a Green Lantern fan (he proved it by stating that he read one of the old Green Lantern scripts, from months ago). I would be surprised if he is telling the truth since he has been very hush hush on the matter, and you're right, he is the only one who said that there was screenings for Green Lantern.

C'mon, man. Anybody can get their hands on a copy of the GL script nowadays (just ask prtocida). Rule number one: a true Green Lantern fan would never dis the project even if it was bad (he/she would just keep his/her mouth shut). Thus guy is a fake. From what I have been gathering just from people on the street is that the in general like comic book movies and are looking forward to seeing all of them (especially "Thor", "Green Lantern", and "Captain America") this year. Furthermore, if the studio knew that there were problems with the film they would have reshot those scenes that were bad months ago or would have moved the release date back (and fired the director - like they did with "Punisher: Warzone"). This rock and bull story you heard is just that.

I don't know about all of that, but I'd question why the studio would put up an additional 9 million dollars in SFX if there were problems with the film...

I got to see Thor two times and Fast Five and there was no Green Lantern trailer. :csad:

Another question I should ask is if you came in late or were you there in time for the previews?

I was on time for all three screenings. The trailers for both times I saw Thor was the same. It was Captain America, Super 8, Cowboys & Aliens, Conan, and X-men First Class.

It was reported in Variety that the studio wanted to add in a scene that was removed during development. That and the fact that they needed to hire a VfX outfit to help them get back on schedule equates to 9 million extra dollars. This seems to be a trend and the norm with effects-heavy films. I don't think that there were problems any more than there was a schedule crunch due to a change in scope.

I saw Thor again yesterday and still didn't see the new trailer for Green Lantern. I'm going to check out the 2D print of Thor tomorrow to see if it pops up.

saw thor with my family today

cap america, super 8, three musketeers, conan barbarian, green lantern, and cowboys and aliens were attached
