What was said, wether it's true or not, one thing is for sure. 1, 2, and 3 won't bug many people who choose to see Green Lantern, I also dare say the same for 4. If a bunch of people can accept superheroes in the X-Men movies, then they can also accept a bunch of superheroes in Green Lantern. The power ring being gimmicky won't matter as long as people dig it, anyways, I am officially done talking about this story about the screenings.

Doe's anyone know where that new tv spot can be viewed on the internet?

I imagine Sinestro would be the Harvey Dent of the sequel in that we'd see his fall to evil while Hal & the Corps deal with the Manhunters and Star Sapphire. By the end of the movie, Sinestro is full on rogue or is already rogue and went head to head with Hal.

Then in the third movie, Green Lanterns versus the Sinestro Corps. Well at least in my dream. :awesome:
Mine too! :woot:
The Star Sapphire, not the Star Sapphire Corps. It'll just be Carol Ferris infected by the Zamaron Crystal.
Meh... How would she fit into all this? Sounds lame. What is she gonna do, chase after Hal and try to rape him?

if some hot chick is gonna try to destroy me, I'd prefer she do it with sex and love.

I would also like to say that when I saw the GL trailer with Thor today, the effects looked great on the big screen. :D

Also, since it was 4-6 weeks ago, wouldn't that mean the CGI wasn't finished?

If that screening story is legit, definitly. I know one guy from Sony, who was working on Hals Suit and also on Kilowog and other stuff. He finished his work on April 29th ( 2-3 weeks later than planed) . So if there really was a screening 4-6 weeks ago, the effects weren´t done. I also heard that screenings are planned 4 weeks before the movie will be released, so it will be around this time, I think.

I saw the trailer in germany and what I heard it was very well received.
( "I have to see it").
The synchron speakers are okay ( I will see the original version tho).
It would be cool, if Mark Strong could voice himself, his german is perfect!:wow:

did your guy see the movie or comment on how good he thought it was?

"4-6 weeks ago was when the screenings took place.

The reasons was for people not like it was:

1.- Comedy was lame.
2.- Who is really the super hero being that there are lots of them? Apparently people didn't like that there are GLs all over the universe.
3.- GL's ring got gimmicky after a while. Someone asked afterwards ''Why not just give him a green magic wand and call it a day?'' and the place busted out laughing.
4.- CGI was weak. Looked like something made in the the Philippines.''

Not exactly confidence instilling.

Hey everyone, first post here. Anyways I saw the Green Lantern trailer last week and I'll just say that I'm cautiously optimistic.

Understandable.

And the "screening" comments 2 and 3 causes me to question whether there was a screening or the people who were at it. Complaining that there are multiple GLs and that the ring is gimmicky. That's two staples of the Lantern mythos, for goodness sakes.

GL has to succeed. It has to. If it doesnt prepare to sink in an ocean of grimdark because DC/WB will think that Batman succeeds because of that and that's how everything should be like.

Understandable.

I don't buy audiences disliking that there are other green lanterns. That's one of the biggest appeals of this movie--that hal isn't just a regular run of the mill superhero, he belongs to something bigger.

And yeah with the third bullet, the joke was either lost in translation, or fabricated by an unfunny person.

Why should people care if the ring is a staple of the GL mythos? So they are gonna give it a free pass just because it's in the comics? Doesn't work that way.

I can totally undestand how people who have no interest in the comics think the ring is a bit too silly. Hopefully people can look past that though.

If the movie fails it will be because of the tons of other superhero movies saturating this summer, and the specific details of the franchise, the aliens, the multiple GLs, the ring and its constructs and all that.

I think GL looks awesome, but who knows, maybe its too colourful and cheesy for the general audience.

In any case it will certainly not be because GL wasnt grimdark or realistic but that's what DC is going to think. I mean they were gunning for a realistic and grimdark Flash movie. God knows what Johns had to go through to convince them to greenlight an Ironman-esque GL movie. Marvel proves that you can stay true to the comics and dont go super realistic and still succeed. I guess its all down to the audience and what their ignorant minds think is silly and what is not.

You mean Warner Bros, Earle.

I guess what I meant is that I don't see how that's considered silly and gimmicky in comparison to some things that have been given silver screen time.

Arent WB and DC the same company or does WB have the final say?
