Time travelling is cheating.
who's next? chris klein? chris cooper? chris waltz? chris walken? chris o'donnell? chris pine? chris tucker?
If Blizzard ever appears in the MCU, they need to cast Kris Kringle.
Great casting decision, but I wonder if it will have an impact on who gets the role of Drax. Pratt is 6'2" with a thick build, so the person Gunn picks to play the the Destroyer is going to have to be a monster in order to show a contrast between the two human(oid) leads.
wouldn't mind Chris Pine as a character down the line post-Star Trek 3.. if they ever get around to making Iron Fist in Phase Four he'd make an okay Danny Rand
alot of the other names that were mentioned for hte role ( like Lee Pace, Zachary Levi,Garrett Hedlund...) were also quite tall (6'2"-6'3")... that seem to be the height they had in mind for the character, so I doubt it changes anything
I'm not familiar with Pratt's work, but I'm going to trust Marvel's judgment on this one. They've had a lot of success casting guys named Chris.
as much as I don't like seeing Wrestlers in film roles.. Dwayne Johnson should make us believers in change.. THR again brought up Dave Batista being linked for Drax... I don't think we're going to be getting a high-end actor to play that role.. might as well get someone with films in actual theaters.. he's in the upcoming Riddick film and had a role in Man With The Iron Fists..has enough action credits to be at least considered.. as long as he stays in Guardians.. the only other actor that could be decent would be Jason Momoa.. too bad Johnson is busy doing that awful sounding Hercules film for Ratner over the summer....
I like Pratt a lot, so I'm okay with this choice. I wasn't expecting it at all, but I like him a hell of a lot better than some of the other rumored contenders.
God, I hope he'll do his own stunts.
During Paleyfest, Pratt did mention that he first wanted to be a stunt man and that they let him do a lot of his own stunts on Parks and Rec (granted that is usually just comical, highly animated falls)
he's also dedicated to roles.. he got into prime shape for Zero Dark Thirty, he sort of had to if he's playing a Navy Seal..
See, if that was anybody else taking a smartphone mirror pic but him, I'd dismiss it. Knowing him he did it tongue in cheek.
Momoa's been my choice for Drax for a while. He's like 6'5" (at least) and huge, but he also moves very quickly and seems pretty agile, and he's a decent actor. I think he'd be excellent as Drax.
if you notice it's a screengrab from Conan, so he took it for comedic purposes
What's wrong with almost Superman Joe Manganiello? I'd say he's shown us less awful acting than Momoa.
I'd say what is wrong is that it's wasted casting. He seems perfect for Hercules.
Chris M seems hell bent on making Batista happen for some reason.
Except Hercules isn't going to be in a Marvel Studios movie in time to cast Manganiello in his prime.
I hate the idea of "saving" an actor for a role that may not come. You cast the best actors for the first role they can really rock. He'd do a way better job than Momoa.
Or more realistically, ever.
I never would have thought of him, but I'm totally glad someone else did.
