I think it's just as likely that we'll get Harley as it is that we'll get Talia. Out of the shortlist, who would do justice to Miss Quinn?

And I say that as one of the biggest Harley Quinn fans in the galaxy.

You simply cannot have her without the Joker. Don't misunderstand me - she's fine as a solo character. I own her entire solo series and she more than holds her own whenever she appears away from the Joker.

But before going out on those solo adventures, you simply MUST introduce her with the Joker.

Her entire character depends on her relationship with the Joker. It is literally the core of her character, her very reason for existence. That's not something you can write as "IT HAPPENED OFF SCREEN." You have to see their interactions. And without the Joker in the movie (and he won't be in the movie), this isn't possible.

(An alternate version of TDK; the one we got was too crowded with characters to begin with, no room for Harley.)

She won't work with out the Joker. She (especially for film going audiences) needs to show the relationship and he needs to be there for it. I'll never say never, but I doubt it.

Unless Ledger is out there somewhere or Joker has been recasted (truly, my worst nightmare), I doubt there will be Harley Quinn in there anywhere; maybe a mention or brief apperance before she took the crazy Mad Love plunge, but if anything, nothing more or at all.

Here's the only way it would work, and I've been thinking about this all day. During the time that TDK was taking place, Harleen Quinzel started to become obsessed with this charismatic psychopathic madman that we all know as The Joker. She thinks he's the saviour for gotham. This guy really speaks to her, and when Joker is locked up in Arkham(they will have to explain his absence somehow) Harley takes to the streets as almost a mirror of The Joker. I would never want her to be the main villain in the film, but I think if orchestrated properly, she could be a very good side villain. Definitely don't want her as a main focus though, because her antics would be too similar to that of Mister J. Just look at her as being an overly obsessed fan....The Joker wouldn't necessarily have to be in it for it to work. Nolan can do what he wants with the character and have it work for him. We know he's capable of doing that sort of thing, so why not with Harley?
