I don't have any problem with people having a negative opinion of the movie. I have a huge problem with people who have a negative opinion and come her to let the cat out of the bag, when the movie has yet to be released in the states.

And I have a huge problem with people who are arrogant enough to think they're mods, and with people who ignorantly run around calling people trolls.

If you think I'm a troll, get a mod who's job it is to actually identify when someone is trolling. Do not try and do their job for them, because clearly you are not good at it. I don't cheerlead. I don't do it on the Batboards, I don't do it on the Superman boards, I don't do it on the X-Men boards, and I will not do it here. If you don't like what I post, actually try to argue the merits of what I'm saying. Calling me a troll is just a cheap copout.

I'm not a mod, and I don't pretend to be. However there are multiple stickies on the board saying to use spoiler tags. Several people have been warned about this and yet it continues to happen.

I know the spoiler detail, so I'm not even doing this for me. I'm doing it for the many people who have yet to see this film, but have to come here and listen to people openly discuss spoiler details who don't know the spoilers and have yet to see the film.

I don't care about the merits of what you are saying. If you didn't like the film, then you didn't like the film. I only care about people openly discussing spoilers.

Thank you!!!!!! Ugh, first Assassin's Creed 3, now Iron Man 3.

Always glad to see that awesometacular avvy of yours in whichever forum I'm currently visiting, DA! Glad you enjoyed reading my rant. :funny:

Still haven't played AC3, I take it you weren't too fond of it?

Thanks for the concern trolling. BTW use spoiler tags because a lot of people have not seen the film and may not know there is a [blackout]Mandarin Twist. Saying there is a twist on the character is a spoiler[/blackout]

Dude, you might want to calm down a little... :whatever: I don't think he's trolling. And you won't be able to avoid 100% of the people coming here talking about this film without spoiler tags, that's for sure. I'd suggest you avoid visiting these places for a few days if you're so concerned about accidentally reading spoilers. This is a review thread after all, so not everyone will remember to put spoiler tags immediately. There's a warning, and there are mods to do the job if people break the rules. No need to go after each one individually and call them trolls.

If a critic dislikes movies you like, & likes movies you dislike, why wouldn't you ignore their opinion on a new movie?

That's basically my point. If someone thinks that Spider-man 3 was a better film than the Avengers and Dark Knight, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with them.

I apologize for the concern trolling comment. The spoiler detail isn't for me, it's for all the people who have regularly visited this board who haven't seen the film yet. The mods have been clear about the spoiler tags, yet people continue to ignore them.

If this were actually true, there would be no need to call anyone a troll.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but when is the US embargo officially supposed to end or supposed to have ended?

You released spoiler information against clearly posted stickies stating that people who thought other than you were "spinning" it, and I called it concern trolling. If you don't mean to stir stuff up then fine, but you should have known better than to not tag your spoiler info. I'm done arguing about this.

And you should've known better than throw accusations...that stirred things up more than anything, and there would be no argument. But what's done is done.

Why? Because you don't agree with her opinion? lol

A quick look at Stephanie Zacherek's reviews. She didn't like Iron Man 3 or Avengers, and the Dark Knight, but she liked Spider-man 3. </ignore>

Gotta say, I don't really see the logic with this mentality. I'm tempted to take this POV whenever I really disagree with a critic or whomever as well, but I think it's worth it to think back to your own taste in movies. Everyone has a movie or two(or twenty) that critics or their friends will never agree on, and in some cases we enjoy movies that we just know are terrible.(call it a guilty pleasure) Anyway, all I'm trying to say is that it doesn't make sense to try and discredit someone based on cherry-picked samples of movies they favor. Better to judge them by the content and intent of their criticism than anything else.

I've already explained what I've said. If someone likes Spider-man 3 better than Avengers or Dark Knight, they are entitled to their opinion. As a fan of movies and movie making in general I can't see how someone could defend that. Spider-man 3 is the Frankenstein of movies let alone Super-hero movies. Disjointed plot lines that go no where, non-sequitor connections between characters that we're supposed to buy. Look in some ways I liked Spider-man 3, but as a movie, the thing is just a mess.

If she hadn't liked any of those films, it would have made more sense to me.

Just came back from seeing it in 2D. I thought it was a big improvement over IM2 and I'd give it a rating of 9/10.

The end credit scene was a bit of a let down imo, I guess I was just expecting something different.

Absolutely, people respond differently to different stuff. Sometimes you like movies that everybody else hates, sometimes the opposite. As I said in another thread, although I was very disappointed, I'm glad to see that the film is getting good reviews from both fans and critics.

Just saw the movie at an advance screening in NYC, it was amazing, had a blast the audience loved it, they laughed so had that I couldn't hear the dialogue couple of the time, and they loved the mandarin twist, that scene got the most laughs.
Overall I would say WAYY better than iron man 2, on par with Iron Man1 but with more heart and tony feeling, slightly below Avengers but not that behind.

And those action sequence, amazing! So innovative, my theater erupted into claps in many of the scenes.

Overall I would give the movie a 9/10.
Can't wait for my second viewing on Thursday in IMAX!

Funny that you mention that, since almost every Marvel Studios movie suffers from that problem.

Thanks! I thought about changing it but posters have told me it would be weird to acknowledge me without the Bane avvy (like a Nolan film without Michael Caine).

Let's just say don't pay full price for it. I'd redbox AC3, to be honest. It was such a letdown -- on Mass Effect 3's proportions.

Whoa..surprised to see almost everyone so argumentative...or maybe not really. This IS the hype afterall.

Would love to join, but gotta think about my blood pressure here..hehe

Anyway, saw the movie, loved it...9/10 for me

Its funny that iron-man has to date the best and most realistic child sidekick in comic book movie history.

I agree, if only John Blake in TDKR was like Harley.

Harley at least had a interest in making stuff like Tony, and there was a connection between the two characters. Harley even helped Tony with charging the armour, locating where The Mandarin is and helped Tony escape the Extermis guy.

John Blake just went up to Wayne Manor and said 'You're Batman!' and there wasn't really any connection between Bruce and John, other that they are orphans. Bruce just hands him the keys to the Batcave and all his gear without John really deserving it.

Today's audiences don't like to be challenged sadly enough...they feel entitled to get the film they want and damn anyone who has a different interpretation of what they feel is the one true only interpretation regardless if it makes a film worse or not.

Or some people just don't like the film :funny: Either way is fine I guess, not everyone can be the same.

That is not a fair statement to make because the movies plot isn't challenging. Let's not make out just because one area is proving controversial that it's a difficult story to understand. There's a difference between feeling entitled and feeling duped.

Are you not familiar with the concept of a guilty pleasure? It doesn't require defending, nor does it need to make sense. This is another issue that I run into far too often, in that too many people(mostly on the internet) seem to think that they're cultured film connoiseurs, and the minute they run into someone whose tastes are beneath theirs(i.e. you and this critic), they seek to discredit them, or at the very least can't take them seriously. Personally, I can't take that ideal seriously because I know how I am, as well as many of my friends and colleagues, in that there's plenty of entertainment I enjoy that I know is objectively sub-par in many ways.

What I'm trying to tell you is that it's silly to discredit someone by cherry-picking from their preference in movies, because if you internalize that, then you can bet a dime to a dollar that there are several examples from your list of favorites that don't commercially & critically measure up as well.

really liked the film.. prolly give it a solid 8.5-9/10 right now, loved the journey Tony had to go through, loved the action scenes, loved the 'twist', loved the ending. Can't wait to go back and watch it again so I can look for any hidden easter egg type things or Phase2 MCU clues.

I think it tops my MCU movie list right now, I'd prolly go IM3, Avengers, Thor as my top 3. IM3 and Avengers might be 1a and 1b though.

John Blake was not a child and second John Blake did deserve it. He stood up for Gotham when Bruce was gone. Besides Gordon he was the only one who stood up for the city when Batman was gone.
