Couldn't find a thread about it. Who's watching the premiere tonight?

Well it does have Ian Mcshane so I might give this a watch.

I'm quite enjoying the show so far.
Definitely fan of the plot, very interesting

I'm watching it. Definitely interesting. McShane makes the show. I'll probably tune in next week, though odds are it'll be canceled by episode 6 or 7.

Catching the premiere tonight. Ive only read the story of David slaying Goliath but never the one about him as King of Israel. I thought about reading it before the series, but I think Im going to stay "spoiler free" for now.

This is going to be a great night of TV. First Kings, then the second episode of Breaking Bad.

Btw, is the monarchy supposed to be in the USA or a fictional country?

So anyone got a full review?

You know what, throughout the episode...I was shocked by how dry the lead was. The man was practically a robot. Even after his [blackout]brother's death,[/blackout] he screamed but did not show emotion. Then I realized just how intentional that all was at the end when he was surrounded by the crown of butterflies and finally showed emotion.

I noticed that too, how it took that for him to show real emotion...but it obviously says something about the character

Well I caught the premier a while ago, and I got to be honest, I dont see this show lasting that long, I think it only works as a mini series.

Well, there's one reason why it won't last long. If everybody goes into a show with the idea that "Yeah, this won't last, I'll watch it whenever" then no show would survive.

Oh well, looks like Kings bombed out last night with like 7 million as a high.

I always get excited whenever I hear something original is coming on tv. This had the potential to be very good with such a high concept idea, but then I see the protagonist run over to the enemy front lines a few feet away, with his brother practically giddy about it, and then I see him rescue two hostages all by himself and destroy a tank with a grenade and I pretty much lost all interest in the show. Heck I didn't even finish the second half of the pilot. It is so awful when producers abuse this audience in this fashion.

But that's the point. It is a modern retelling of the David and Goliath story. Goliath was a giant, an enemy that could not be defeated, much like the tank.

Zanos missed the point completely. Wow. I mean come on seriously?

There was no point. That's the problem.

David took down the undefeatable Goliath, kinda the point in itself

The whole show is supposed to be the ascension of David to become King of Israel...
