So what makes this different from the other Xbooks other than its the original new mutants?

They're boring as frick. W/ or w/o powers, they suck. I'd trade them both for Wolfsbane back.

I think my major prob w/ Dani is how hard they try to play up her Native American-ness. I wouldn't be surprised if they draw she and Warpath having a rain dance sometime to put out one of those crazy wildfires in CA :

Dani's ethnicity is played up too much?! I have no idea what you're talking about. She's only haunted by a demon bear, shot her psychic powers through a bow and arrow, talked to animals, felt the unending need to decorate all of her costumes, wears feathers in her hair, puts her hair in wrapped-up pigtails, wears headbands, shared a special bond with a magical horse, and paints with all the colors of the wind.

Poor Karma, though. She wasn't even put in X-Force or X-Factor or given an Academy X squad.

Yes she was. After Northstar died, she took over his squad which consisted of Anole, Loa, Rubbermaid, Indra, Network, and Kidogo. Technically all the current New Mutants are also X-men over in Uncanny. We saw them as part of that rotating cast a few months ago

We agree on most things except this. Dani rocks! She's my favorite New Mutant next to Sam

Only because he was the only New Mutant to actually graduate and become and X-men. So what makes this different from the other Xbooks other than its the original new mutants?

Cannonball was Xaivers/Magnetos/Cables/Pete Wisdoms golden boy

Dani sure but Karma is cool when people remember her backstory.

A Vietnamese immigrant escaping a crime lord uncle, on her way to america her and mother where raped, her parents where killed, forced to look after her younger siblings, becoming obese and being possessed by atleast two telepathic x-villains!

Characters have turned evil for less than that in Marvel U and even worst than all that Xaiver made her his secretary!

Xaiver never made none of the other X-Chicks work as his secretary.

plus shes a lesbian and marvel doesn't have many lesbians so getting rid her would be one less minority group.

All that alone makes her more intresting than half of any of the X-women to ever pull on a costume.

I liked when Karma was all alternative looking in X-Force where she had short pink hair, body piercings and listened to rave music.

Didn't they try and hook up or suggest an attraction between Dani and James when they where New Mutants/Hellions

Part of the reason why Karma has failed to appeal to many people is bc of her story. Almost always it involves her looking after her siblings. That was the major plot point with her in New Mutants and she hasnt done much signicantly since then which hasnt involved them. Many writers seemed to just fall back on that. Thankfully they havent been mentioned much since she was brought back into the X-fold with New Mutants v2, but then again she hasnt been used except in a minor teacher position

Yes there was an attraction which they both acknowledged. It was pretty good back then. Both leaders of rival groups. Made for some interesting conflict

Karma's younger siblings (who haven't seemed to have aged since the 80s) appeared in her Manifest Destiny story, along with some pretty hideous artwork, and a reminder that (due to the sliding timescale) Karma is the only Vietnamese person under 50 who still speaks French.

I forget about Manifest Destiny. The siblings were aged in the Beast limited series but went back to their original age after. They really should at least be teens now

Karma used to look like ET with a wig on in New Mutants.

Its funny how Claremont gave both Dani Moonstar and John Proudstar the old I hate white people act when they where first introduced.
