Yeah, that seems more than just low. That seems very disappointing for the studio.
Yeah, I want SM3 to come out on top and looks like it. But, that number for POTC3 seems more than HORRIBLE! I mean, seriously!

SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE: 'Pirates' softer-than-expected!; P3 Friday only #10 all-time single day gross; 3-day of $105.5M, far behind 'SM3' and 'Shrek 3'; 'AWE' still headed for 4-day of $127.5M and 4 1/2-day of $144.5M

SATURDAY AM: Aaaaaaaargh! Thats probably what Disney execs are saying this morning. One of the three major May sequels was bound to disappoint, and it appears that itll be Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End.
I made a round of calls to studio execs this morning, and my 3-day and 4-day estimates are unchanged (scroll down to read them in my Friday PM update). The consensus is that Pirates: At World's End will have a 3-day of approximately $105.5M (No. 7 all-time), a 4-day Memorial Day weekend of $127.5M (#1 all-time) and a 5-day of $144.5M. Shrek the Third will score an estimated $55M for the 3-day and a likely $70M for the 4-day, while Spider-Man 3 should grab $15.5M and $19M respectively.
$ 19 for Spider-Man 3 ? Not bad at all. $ 15.5 for 3 days would be about a 50 % drop. Once again, not bad. Would give it around 308 domestic.

ouch that's got to hurt .I guess we'll just have to wait and see tomorrow what Box Office Mojo's estimates are.

t:Dude, if you still think 160-165 mil... prepare to be majorly dissappointed.
I do expect the numbers to be higher than what was given- but DEFINITELY NOT that much higher dude. That ship has come and sailed its course off world's end.
But, I do think these numbers have to be a sick joke- I mean... wow. Disney will probably take out their swords in the office and start killing each other. Think the fight between the Pirate Lords- only with business execs. Actually, that would be hilarious to see!t:
One can only hope that they do indeed do that

No way this must be some kind of sick joke only 105M opening weekendouch that's got to hurt .
If that is indeed true, Disney will have to do a hell of a lot of damage control, and spin. You put 300 into a movie, and it does 145 on a 4 day holiday weekend, something is horribly wroung. 145 is nice for most movies, but has to be a major disapointment for Disney considering what 2 did. That's $ 13,181 per screen. I can't see why Disney would sandbag It's #'s unless they think It's April the 1st.
Wow! I wanted Spidey to keep his record but I didn't want Pirates to be this disappointing. I thought Shrek would be the odd one because it was sandwiched in. I wouldn't have guessed Pirates. Oh well, they all had better openings and probably will have better legs than Superman Returns.![]()
I second that.
Disney needs to make a REAL pirate movie. In my opinion, Muppet Treasure Island was more of a pirate movie than POTC.![]()
Can't believe how alot of you so called Spider-Man fans are showing compassion towards the Pirates disappointment. These are the same Pirates that humiliated our fellow hero buddy Superman, even though the movie was crap, Superman didn't deserve it.
Now its time for Spider-Man to humiliate Pirates.
I'm not one of the people showing compassion but I don't really mind what they did to superman never liked the character or his movies. Can't believe how alot of you so called Spider-Man fans are showing compassion towards the Pirates disappointment. Hey hold on, I think your missing the big point here, (On one hand were all excited and Happy Pirates got a badass beat .And didn't rob spidey again of his title)
But on the other hand for a movie that had so much hype & mind you was quite good(I saw in on Thursday night with my girlfriend , who's a huge JD fan) to make only $10.5 million is just earth Shattering .

t: 10.5 million would be a travesty. Lol. You would expect everyone talking about that. It would really be shocking and unintentionally hilarious. I think that would be an all time flop record, if I ever saw one. Can't believe how alot of you so called Spider-Man fans are showing compassion towards the Pirates disappointment.
