Progress what argument? I said why I PERSONALLY LIKED IT. I said why I liked it.

Because it sounded like you were trying to make me sound like some action junkie. You were, um- replying to my post with this comment:

"Some of us like good movies that are about more than just "WaTcH HoW MAnY ThiNGS theY CAn BLoW uP!!!111!!!"

And you honestly didn't think I wouldn't get offended by that? Get real dude.

I simply made it clear that I'm not the action junkie you tried to make me out to look like. I said why I liked the film- Sam's story and because that's the once character in all these films I relate to most. How is that arguing? Hmm, maybe it's to you because you want to make me look like some cliche action junkie. When, in fact, I am anything but that.

To me what makes a good film is an interesting story and a relatable character that I can see myself taking a journey through. Whether that be independent films, yes I see alot of independent films, drama films, action films, etc.

Another one of the films I like alot is "In Good Company" because I can relate to the character of Carter Duryea.

So progressing my argument? WHAT ARGUMENT????? ALL I SAID IS WHY I LIKE THE FILM.... oh, mad that I don't fit into your perfect little box?

I'm going to post this and I'm done with it: you can't "dis" someone else's opinion then become innocent and high minded when someone comes against yours. Cuase its obvious you have selected amnesia when you "tell someone your opinion" but when someone clarifies things "he's picking on me".

F42 seems to be close to the comics. People have been bashing this movie before it even came out. People seem to want Story to fail. The rumor of Galactus has been debunked by Story but yet people are still bashing him for it. Yet and still the trailers are awesome. And we can't really believe critics cuase if we did, SM3, POTC3, and Shrek3(I think) were all bashed by critics.

It's not [just] Tim Story that I don't have the strongest of faith in, it's the fact that this movie is being produced by Fox, who's notorious for cutting their movies just to make more profit. For example, Daredevil, X3, FF1, and Elektra among others.

And with the rumors of 89-95 minutes, I'm don't doubt they've done the same to FF2.

I have fcking read the script dude.

Your the only one in this entire discussion to get upset hell in the last couple of discussion with anyone you have talked to you are the one to get up set.

If you have read the script and still like it then forget it I won't even bother continuing this conversation.

Lol

Also you can't try to act like you were taking the higher ground by saying to each his own but in the same post make more points to try and progress your argument.

Tell me, Docker, how in that post I made I was "progressing my argument"?

What argument was I making? Why I personally liked the film?

Can't argue with you there but it does look awesome. I'm going to give it a chance though. You can't say that trailer doesn't look good!

I'm done with it bruh! Obviously the whole world is wrong but you. just respect other people's opinion next time without the name calling.

So, you're justifying the way Stupify was acting? Or are you saying we're both the same?

Also, I don't remember saying that I was holier than thou and ignore the past. Did I? Read it over again dude.

I was trying to take the upper hand in THIS 'conflict' by being the better man in THIS conflict. But, seemingly all Stupify wanted to do was squash me into a little cliche box of his to try to further is argument.

And how was I furthering mine? By saying that what interests me is Sam's story and not the action- what argument is that? All I was doing was getting out of that image Stupify was trying to make "action cool. Things go boom!". And srry, but that being in his first line while quoting ME- and then saying that was aimed at everyone... why would he quote me and have that be his first line? The second line I can see... but, saying the first was meant for everyone seems more like a retcon to me.

What the hell is going on in this thread, is this still the box office thread or what?

BTW, I don't think SM3 will make 350M domestically, and I don't think it'll be the #1 grossing movie (domestically, overseas or worldwide). That's gonna go to Pirates (1#) then Shrek (#2). And no, it won't hit 600M or 550M overseas. I don't mind it being THIRD or FOURTH for the year, as long as it makes more than SM1 worldwide. Personally, that's the only goal that's important, well at least for me...because I didn't think it was possible.

Have you words to say?

It's all up for grabs now. SM3 did have the stronger opening, but depending- POTC3 could still be in the run. I don't think Shrek will, unless- how are those legs doing? But, POTC3- possible.

I don't think I agree with one thing in this comment.

I don't see how you can look at the boxoffice right now and think that SM3 won't be number 1 this year. Everything seems to point to it being the boxoffice leader except you. It will be number one and while there is a very very very tiny chance it might fall to number 2 there is no chance in hell of it being number 3.

SM3 already has $500,997,234 and isn't even half way done with being in theaters. IT will for sure hit 550 at least

Leave it to visionary to say something totally ****in LEFT field. How do you figure SM being #3?

Pirates opening was pathetic compared to SM, it's making LESS money than SM did on a regular basis, it's a flop, IMO, with that $300M budget. Knocked up into the scene this weekend with insanely good reviews and Ocean's 13 nxt weekend will spell the end for Pirates, and FF2 will deliver the final blow. It'll end at around $300M. Disney got too excited over last year's numbers and blew their load over P3.....they forgot that they have more than worthy contenders this summer with Shrek and Spider-Man leading the way.

Shrek 3 did alright opening weekend, but like I predicted, the second weekend fell hard. And like Pirates, it's making LESS than Spidey on a regular basis. It's legs are nowhere near that of it's predecessors. At least Spidey, Pirates, and Shrek's audiences differ a little. "Surf's up" caters to the same EXACT audience as Shrek 3. Look for Shrek 3's death in theaters around the 8th of June and also a final total of around $300M.

Due to all of these 'straying away from main topic at hand' discussions on every box office thread I started an official thread for just these straying away from main topic films. I was wondering why we were only discussing the main three and branching rather than allowing those above top three films to have their own forum- thus I made this:

Box Office 2007: The fight for after the top three is on!

http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?p=11757713#post11757713

The word "fight" because it seems FF, Simpsons, Die Hard, TF, every fan of these films are just as heated and involved in the box office of these films as the top three- plus, it sounds cool.

So, want to talk about these other summer film box offices, but don't know where to start off this convo? There's the thread to go to.

Too many big films in May 07 and May 08 is even worse with Narnia, Indiana Jones, Iron Man, Speed Racer and The Day the Earth Stood Still as it stands. These studios need to spread it out.

My thoughts exactly. While I'm not complaining that Spider-Man is leading the way, I was suprised that Disney/Dreamworks released two of their biggest films within a month's time. Don't they know that Spidey is very popular with a large percent of the movie-going audience? They should have at least waited to late June/mid-July to release some of these films.

Wow, what the hell? That's.... WOW. And I thought May was crammed this summer. No movie will make a lot of money next summer if they keep that May schedule- they'll all eat into each other's box office. Well, my money's on Indy, Iron Man, and Narnia.

Not really people aren't saying things like

***** you
You stupid *****ing idiot
I hope you *****ing die
YOu are the dumbest person I have ever met

Those are flames we are having a heated discussion (If it's even that personally I don't think it's even heated.) Heated isn't always flames.
Fact of the matter is that you are arguing over how good a movie is before you have even seen it. Let it rest and get back to what this thread is dedicated too...not Transformers, not Fantastic Four...Spider-Man.

It's just a matter of time before someone gets pissed off and the name calling proceeds.

C, look at this thread /\...

There are alot of 'branching' because people didn't have a place to talk about these films as a collective whole. Well, now we do. Which is seeing how EVERY box office thread is going... if you thought POTC3, SM3 and S3 was heated- I actually think this "after the top three" is where the most debate lies. Those top three were heated due to loyal fan bases, well all of these films this summer (since their either sequels or based on something) have just as loyal fanbases, if not- some are more.

Dude WTH have you even paid attention we had already stopped and got back on topic before you came in here and took it off topic again

OH BROTHER, ANOTHER WORLD WAR III ARGUMENT IN THE SHH BOARDS WHAT AN INCREDIBLY ORIGINAL AND NOVEL IDEA!!!:whatever::whatever::whatever: LEAVES THREAD UNTIL PEACE IS DECLARED IN THE MIDDLE EAST!!!:o:oldrazz::D:up:

Peace or "leave it be" was declared here..?.. I left it be, and then looking at the above- so did Stupify.

Hmmm, too bad no one's gonna post in there. The SM3/Summer 2007 box office discussion is going fine in here. Besides, there are already three, I kid you not, three threads in that forum discussing 2007 box office.

? I only knew of the one (which was the ACTUALS, and not a 'debate')

Well, if that is the case- which one of these do you agree or disagree on (other than the one we already went over):

To arrive at these I looked to films they resembled to their possible prior-to's (since alot of these films are sequels).

Transformers- around a 'Day After Tomorrow' (185) to 'War of the Worlds' (235) type box office. 185-250 mil. *With a chance of being more than that (235) due to the "new" factor in a summer crammed with sequels, thus the bump to a possible 250.* It has Spielburg's name attached, it has big robots and is getting a phenomenal response from alot of the guys I know. Also, the story is one that I believe alot of teenagers could possibly relate to.

HP is also going to do good. But it's going to be a toss up, I believe, between this and TF. Similar to the "war" between SM3 and POTC3. Expect around 230-250 mil similar to the last HP film that premiered during the summer months.

Fantastic Four 2 has more of a 180-210. Although some fans and critics didn't like it, I am positive that those who did outweight those who didn't. At the very least it will get the same amount FF1 got, definitely not less. I think as time went on- more people found it and liked it, while the primary ones against it are some fans and critics.

Simpsons is a wild card, but I'd say 130-150 or a little more maybe depending on how good the film is. I actually looked at South Park and compared SP to Simpsons to arrive at this. SP got 52 mil.

The only flop I see is that alien invasion flick with Craig and Kidman... nobody knows it exists and I think they might be hiding it due to a horrible job a la "A Sound of Thunder" (that unfinished CGI film, which also got pushed back- premiering Sept. 2 of 2005). Not to mention it got put into the month of August and there hasn't even been a teaser trailer released yet for the film. It still has a chance of being good and they're just waiting for the summer to clear to launch it with little to no competition, but I'm leaning more towards the "on the shelf" type approach to launching the film into theaters. http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=11352

Oceans 13 is going to be more than 125 million (box office for Oceans Twelve) probably if they keep to their promise of making it more like Ocean's 11, but lower if it's the same or worse than Ocean's 12.

Knocked up will be around 100-110 mil, along with 40 year old virgin.

Spoiler tagging it so this post doesn't take up a lot of room.
