(Warning: The following content contains spoilers for previous entries in the Trails series of The Legend of Heroes games.)

Scherazard Harvey (voiced by Yuka Shioyama)
The-Legend-of-Heroes-Trails-of-Cold-Steel-IV-The-End-of-Saga_2018_08-16-18_001.jpg

Known by the nickname “The Silver Streak,” she is a tan-skinned A-rank bracer from the Liberl Kingdom.

She was a pupil of Cassius in her early bracer days, and is like an older sister to his daughter Estelle.

Four years ago, during a series of events where the Liberl Kingdom was attacked, she met and hit it off with Prince Olivert, and even after that the two retained a personal relationship with one another.

In accordance with the movements of the revitalized jaeger corps and Ouroboros society, Scherazard entered the Empire with Agate, and then carried out activities independently, but…

When the disaster occurred in the Imperial capital, she became an eyewitness to the moment that the Courageous, boarded by Prince Olivert, exploded.

A descendant of the Auslese family that once ruled over the Sept-Terrion of Space, she is the next in line to become Queen of the Liberl Kingdom.
She kept her lineage a secret during her student days, when she met Estelle and Joshua, who were traveling the Kingdom while training, and thereafter contributed to the resolution of the Liberl Disaster as one of their allies.
In the process, she was able to determine her own path forward, and decided to take her place as the next Queen of the Liberl Kingdom.
As the Imperial government began interfering in other nations after the incident in the Imperial capital, invoking the National Mobilization Law and strengthening military might, it became clear that all out war was on the horizon, and acting as Queen of Liberl, Klaudia began to take action in response, but…

Cassius Bright (voiced by Yukimasa Kishino)

The lieutenant general of the Liberl Kingdom Army and the extraordinary strategist who defeated the Imperial Army in The Hundred Days War 14 years ago.
He studied under Yun Ka-fai, the founder of the Eight Leaves One Blade school of swordsmanship, and is widely known by the nickname, “The Divine Blade.”
After losing his beloved wife in The Hundred Days War, he retired from the army. After that, he had a remarkable showing all over Zemuria as an S-rank bracer.
After the Empire’s attack on the Bracer Guild, Cassius returned to the army, taking advantage of the Liberl Kingdom’s coup covertly maneuvered by the society.
Since then, he has been trying to reorganize the Kingdom army while cooperating with Prince Olivert and each country’s Awakeners, as well as keeping an eye out for the disquieting moves of the Imperial government.

■ System

◆ Quests

Tons of quest are scattered all over the Empire that are deeply connected to the main story.

In The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV ~The End of Saga~, various quests will occur as you progress through the story.

Many of those quests are high density quests packed with information related to the main story, numerous foreshadowing spread throughout the series, and the characters that have become central to the story.

By accepting quests that develop from various positions and powers—including the Empire, Crossbell, commoners, nobles, and military personnel—you can enjoy a deeper, more multilayered main story.

Quest Example #1: “Clear the Shrine”

Juna and the others discover a building that resembles the ruins they saw during their special duty activities on Bryonia Island.

POMtto!

The falling Poms competitive puzzle game from The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki returns.

Control the Poms that fall down from the top of the screen, and match three Poms of the same color to erase them.

By continuing to erase Poms, your CP (Craft Points) will increase, and when your CP reaches 100 or more, you can activate an S-Craft.

The attack-type S-Craft drops a huge amount of Poms into the opponent’s area, while the defense-type S-Craft erases the Poms in your own area.

*You can battle against characters that have a POMtto! account.

By shooting at the ghosts that appear in the residence, your score will increase. If you do not defeat any ghosts for a certain amount of time, the ghosts will disappear and your chain number will reset, so be careful.

What Wonderland gifts await those who defeat the Weremishy in the depths of the residence and come out with a high score…?

The PC versions will also receive Japanese voice-overs via a free update.

Here is an overview of the two titles, via XSEED Games:

Among the nations on the Zemurian continent, the mighty Erebonian Empire has been quick to outwardly stake its claim militarily; yet politically, ugly bouts of internal conflict between the upper class and commoners attempting to rise to power have been steadily intensifying day by day. The Noble and Reformist Factions have been none too kind to one another over the years, and tensions between the two only stand to worsen if compromises aren’t made in the very near future.

Rean Schwarzer, like any other citizen of the Imperial Nation, is no stranger to these rising conflicts: the class system has been deeply embedded into the hearts of every Erebonian since the days of old. As a seventeen-year-old student preparing for his new life at Thors Military Academy, however, he notices that his crimson uniform differs from the standard ones issued to his peers—typically green for commoners, and white for nobles.

Enter, Class VII of Thors Military Academy. For the first time in the prestigious academy’s history, rank means nothing and skill means everything. With nine hand-picked students of various backgrounds and abilities, Rean included, Class VII readies itself to dive deep into the political quagmire that threatens not only them, but the Empire as a whole.

NIS America taking over.

Cold-Steel-III_01-17-19.jpg

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is coming to PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe this fall, publisher NIS America announced. It will feature Japanese and English audio, and English and French text options.

In addition to the standard edition, a $99.99 “Thors Academy Edition” including a copy of the game, “Intelligence Division Files” hardcover art book, “Symphony of Class VII” soundtrack, “Einhel Keep” collector’s box, SteelBook, five postcards, and Mishy plushie is also available for pre-order at the NIS America Online Store.

Here is an overview of the game, via NIS America:

About

Nearly a year and a half has passed since the Erebonian civil war, and much has changed since then. From the shifting stances of countries to the internal politics of the Empire, and even the life of Rean Schwarzer, the shadows of the past have given way to the embers of a new chapter. Now graduated from Thors Military Academy, Rean has become an instructor at the Thors Branch Campus, a newly-opened academy that quickly finds itself thrust onto the national stage. It is here that he takes the lead of a brand new Class VII, and must guide a new generation of heroes into an unknown future. Though all is calm now, the nefarious Ouroboros organization continues to weave a dark plot that could engulf the entire continent in war…or perhaps something even more sinister.

Trails of Cold Steel III invites players into a world full of intrigue and excitement that is years in the making. They will embark on a whirlwind tour through the never-before-seen lands of the recently expanded Erebonian countryside, and encounter fresh faces as well as old friends familiar to fans of the series. In true Trails fashion, the deep, engaging story pairs with an incredible cast of characters and a combat system refined over decades of innovative RPG worldbuilding. This renowned title has also now been developed natively for PlayStation 4 hardware, a series first.

Key Features

  • Welcome to the New Class VII – Explore the newly annexed lands of the Empire with a brand new squad, and catch up with familiar faces from the past.
  • An Immersive Story – Experience an epic story developed across three titles, and crafted for new and old fans alike. Also includes an interactive introduction to catch up new players to the ongoing story so anyone can dive right in to the world of Trails of Cold Steel.
  • Combat Honed to a Fine Edge – Challenge oncoming threats with a combat system that has been refined over the course of decades. The addition of features like Brave Order and the Break System opens up new possibilities in battle.
NIS America will share more about the game during its PAX South 2019 panel “JPN → USA : Danganronpa, Touhou, and Beyond” on January 18 at 11:00 a.m. CST. You will be able to watch it live on Twitch.

Falcom president teases title reveal for Trails series’ 15th anniversary

Tidbits from a newly published interview.

Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo recently spoke to Gamer.ne.jp, where he teased a title reveal for the Trails series’ 15th anniversary.

“The Trails of Cold Steel series is over, and naturally one of our challenges is how do we continue, while at the same time we want the next series to trace back the previous stories even for users who haven’t played the Trails of Cold Steel series at all,” Kondo said. “Also, while Trails of Cold Steel wrapped up in four titles, there is still a little more we wanted to do, so I wonder if we’ll do some sort of two-pronged strategy where something can be done on that front.”

Kondo continued, “I don’t think it’s good to pour too much energy into either thing and fall behind, so I would like to do them side by side. Since this year is the series’ 15th anniversary, I’m thinking about showing off another title at the very least.”

It is worth noting that Kondo previously teased “unexpected developments” for the Trails series’ 15th anniversary.

To the Gamer.ne.jp interviewer who told Kondo he is looking forward to the next entry in the series, Kondo replied, “Thank you very much for that. Now more than ever, I want to figure out how to get the series into everyone’s hands with as little waiting in between as possible.”

Falcom is set to talk more about the future of the Trails series at Dengeki Game Festival 2019 on March 24.

The latest entry in the Trails series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV ~The End of Saga~, launched for PlayStation 4 in Japan in September 2018. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is due out for PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe this fall.

The PlayStation 4 version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will launch on March 26 in North America, publisher XSEED Games announced.

The physical day one “Decisive Edition” will cost $49.99, while the digital edition will cost $39.99. The physical edition includes a copy of the game, a 50 mira replica Collector’s Coin, 21-track Musical Selections CD, SteelBook case, and 10-page exclusive Alisa Reinford’s Cold Steel Crash Course! comic within the 52-page manual.

In Europe, a release is planned for early 2019, but publisher Marvelous Europe has yet to announce a final release date.

Here is an overview of the game, via XSEED Games:

About

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel gives players the chance to follow the activities of Thors Military Academy’s specialized “Class VII” on PlayStation 4 with added features not found in any previous console releases. This includes dual audio for the first time in the series’ history on console, allowing players to enjoy the original Japanese voices for each of the games’ myriad characters. Additionally, they may choose to play with the much-lauded English dub that includes over 5,000 additional English lines previously available only in the PC edition.

Story

With nine hand-picked students of various backgrounds and abilities, Rean included, Class VII readies itself to dive deep into the political quagmire that threatens not only them, but the Empire as a whole

Finally!! I've got Trails of Cold Steel 1!! And the Decisive Edition packaging is super nice. :)

just wish it included some kind of art book.

I've been wanting to try this series for a long time. considered even getting a PS3 or tracking down a PS TV to play the PS3 versions.

glad I waited for them to port the games to PS4.

well, I'm glad I gave this game a shot. I've been playing it the past few days, and I haven't been engrossed in a game/story like this since Persona 5. I can usually tell right off the bat if I like the characters and story, and with this, I could tell right away. I'm still in the early stages of the story, but so far so good.

plus, for a port of a Vita/PS3 game, the game looks pretty good running on the PS4.

I'm definitely interested in this series now and will pick up parts 2 and 3 when they release. hope they announce Part 4 for western release and hope they release future installments and spinoffs in the West.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III ‘New Allies’ trailer

Meet the new faces of Thors Military Academy.
Cold-Steel-3_05-09-19.jpg

NIS America has released a new trailer for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III dubbed “New Allies.”

Additionally, the game’s official website has been updated with English voice samples for various key characters. The western release will feature both Japanese and English audio, and English and French text options.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is due out for PlayStation 4 this fall in North America and Europe.

now that the 1st 2 games are on PS4, meaning the entire series can be played on one system now, I wonder if there will be anyway to transfer your saves, choices, etc. from the 1st 2 games into the 3rd. and then have all that transfer to the 4th game.

it would be nice if your choices could carry over through all 4 games.
