Looks really cool, I just hope they dont spend too much time on Venom.

Woah. Valkyre looks pretty hot. Aragorn also looks pretty badass. Wasp...useless.

I really dont lik this new take on The Ultimates. Its not the art, its not its villians, its the stories(no longer centered around social issues and politics) and the new team, that looks like just another Avengers team.

I think that's the point. I kind of like that because the Ultimates are no longer government tools (emphasis on the word "tools"). This way the public is no longer wasting their tax dollars on them. No more animosity between The Public and The Ultimates. Just heroes doing good for the sake of doing good. For free!

Pretty awesome looking, I'll say. Valkyrie looks rad.

And yeah, I agree with Savage. The Ultimates have moved on to better protect people, and this way they can be better superheroes.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have liked to see them continue in the same vein, but even this is what Millar was heading them to by the end of Ultimates 2. And if they had continued being an extension of the US Armed Forces, well, it would've taken a certain kind of writer to continue to pull that off, and people were whining and complaining and getting tired of Millar. And Loeb certainly isn't the person to do something like that.

But I like Loeb, I'm glad Loeb's working on breathing some new life into the Ultimate universe, and Loeb generally writes a good basic superhero story.

You posted pics from the Marvel solicits book. I was disappointed to see there when I looked at mine that it said "issue one of five". Does this mean this arc has five issues, or this run of Ultimates has only five issues? Seems a bit short....

Yeah, Ultimates 3 is only 5 issues. 4 is right after.

I don't get why they are doing this in volumes. why don't they just keep it going?

I guess it's a precautionary measure for continuity's sake. People need to know where exactly The Ultimates take place in the ultimate timeline and the volumes help with that.

Least she's wearin' more than her defenders counterpart (pray this is not the same person)

It probably is. Now that it's been proven that Thor's the real deal, maybe he pulled the same thing he did in 616 and enhanced her a bit.

It's also serves for a nice separation of creative teams. 1 & 2 were Millar/Hitch, 3 is Loeb/MAD and 4 will be Loeb/McGuinness.

I agree, if only for the reason that I'd imagine Loeb would err on the side of caution. 2 Valkyries, no matter how much of a joke the first one was, has the possibility of confusing people...especially since the 2nd one is being introduced so soon after the first. She wanted to be a superhero so badly, I can see her being powered in some way...or even being revealed as the real Valkyrie all along. Whatever the case, MAD's Valkyrie is phenomenal.

Actually the second scenario you mentioned is plausable. There's no Donald Blake in the Ultimate Universe so maybe they gave his origin to Valkyre. Maybe she's been having dreams and premonitions about who she really is or will be and she just went about it the wrong way.

Oh and I'd like to see SHIELD grab up Spider-Woman, Luke Cage (power him up through a now perfected serum or something), and the rest of the Defenders and make a New Ultimates. Or at least a New Defenders.

All well and good. The main reason is that a new volume means a new #1. This would see well regardless, but a new #1 adds a few thousand more copies.

ULTIMATES 3 #2 (of 5)
Written by JEPH LOEB
Pencils & Cover by JOE MADUREIRA & CHRISTIAN LICHTNER
Variant Cover by MICHAEL TURNER

The Brotherhood vs. the Ultimates…Hawkeye vs. Spider-Man…the shocker of the year rocks on! Reeling from the sneak attack by Venom, the team has no time to recover—because the evil mutant team known as The Brotherhood has launched a full-scale assault on Tony Stark's mansion! It's Captain America vs. Sabretooth, Iron Man vs. Mystique…and Thor vs. Valkyrie?

Plus: Which mega-popular character (nope, not Spidey) makes a surprise appearance on the last page? The dream team of Jeph Loeb, Joe Madureira, and Christian Lichtner continues to rock the Ultimates!
32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$2.99

So I'm guessing the wasp must the character that bites it in the first issue.

I'll read it, I'm not expecting greatness but it should be fun. I never take the Ultimate lines very seriously.

I like Wasp, there are storys there to be writen.

Also, the surprise is gonna have to be female Spidey. Either Spider-Woman or Spider-Man clone, Spider-Girl.
