Rampage dug his own grave with all the excuses he makes. Sure he's never missed weight, and this is just one occurrence so we should cut him some slack. The problem is that when he's made excuses his whole career he has to expect that people are going to call ******** on them. I know he's sensitive, but that's just how it is.

To be honest, every fighter always has an excuse or some story for getting beat or having a poor performance, not making weight etc. Some of them you can sniff ******** a mile off, however in this instance with Rampage it smells of the truth. I mean the guy was begging the UFC to be on this card for weeks & practically said he doesn't care who he fights on it as long as he was on the card... you don't go to that sort of trouble & then half ass it in training or not make proper preperations for weight cutting. Hes obviously had some form of injury that has effected his weight cut/camp.

Hopefully whatever the injury was has healed up enough for him to be sound in the cage, he did say that he wouldn't disclose the injury at the moment incase Bader obviously tried to form a gameplan to exploit that injury, however I imagine it will come out after the fight as it usually does.

Gonna be a good card tonight, buzzing for the Rampage/Bader & Edgar/Hendo fight(s).

According to Joey Varner on the MMA Junkie Radio show he had women sneaking him in hamburgers and junk food and stuff. Take it for what it's worth. Sometimes I think Rampage is not as disciplined as he should be.

Honestly I find fighters need to be more disciplined about their weight cuts and maybe not cutting 25-30 lbs. in two days.

Here's the cause of Rampage's injury:

frankie is gonna prove the doubters wrong yet again all over the net people keep saying that ben is gonna win and out muscle him lol

I wouldn't believe that for a second, I'd maybe believe that he sneaked off maybe one or two Friday nights over the course of his camp & had himself a McDonalds or something along those lines as every fighter/athlete would do now & again, however as for having someone sneaking him regular junk food that contributed heavily in his failing to make the weight in this fight.. not a chance.

The story starts & ends with an injury that didn't allow him to do the required training he does which aids his weight cut.

Also Rampage doesn't usually cut 20/25lbs in 2 days, he usually cuts I'd say at the very most 15lbs in 2 days. However because of the injury he couldn't train & therefore his weight was higher closer to the fight.

Just watched Mitsuoka vs Gomi. It was a decent fight.

I pick Edgar again, this will be his toughest fight ever tho.

Yeah definitely.

Anyone going to watch the Lauzon vs Pettis fight?

I'm going for Lauzon.

Loving all these fights so far. Really great stuff.

Last fight with Barbarian was incredible. Wasn't expecting that.

Sexiyama and Shields should have performed the ritual known as Seppuku after their bout.

lol. Akiyama is the best though. Shields won by doing some lame soft strikes. Winning by point ****ing.

Rampage vs Bader was probably the most boring fight of the night.

Yeah it's between those two.

Okami vs Barbarian was the most entertaining and surprising.

Akiyama is cool, and I love the guy... but sweet gorilla of manilla! Other than his throws (which were badass -- Judo is my favorite grappling art), he offered nothing. He clearly had the advantage in the stand up department, yet Shields outstruck him with punches that would tickle my ancestors. It was just a downright dreadful performance.

Jake, I understand. He has s**tty stand up and his takedowns are weak, but Sexiyama? WTF was he doing in there tonight? He didn't press the action nor did he attempt combinations.

Urgh! :cmad:

Very true.

Hederson vs Edgar was the best fight. Great, great fight.

Every time I pick against Bendo he wins. I'm not complaining since I'm a fan of his. lol I thought Bendo won, but that fight could have easily gone either way. It was very close, and it was very exciting. You gotta love both guys.

Bendo vs. Pettis 2 is probably next. I'm happy for that one, but what about Edgar? People want him to drop to 145. That's fine, but 155 is the best weight class and he just lost a really close decision so it's not like he can't be champ again. You could throw anyone from 155 at him right now and it would sound great. Edgar vs. Cerrone perhaps?

Excellent card tonight, Pettis looked superb against Lauzon & finished him with an excellent head kick & punches. He could/should be one of the next people in line to fight Bendo, especally considering there history together & the fact that Pettis was due a LW title shot when he arrived with the company.

Hioki put on an excellent performance against Palaszewski, his ground game looked really flawless.

Shields/Akiyama fight didn't interest me, Akiyama really disappointed me in his WW debut. Shields striking isn't that strong & I expected more from Akiyama on the feet. He should spend less time on sunbeds & more time working on good gameplans to get him a W.

Kongo/Hunt fight didn't interest me particularly either although I'm surprised Hunt won. Kongo is the definition of a division gatekeeper. He can't string up enough wins to be a real contender, but at the same time he seperates the men from the boys.

Rampage/Bader was probably the least eventful fight of the night. You just need to look at both guys faces at the very end, very little damage was done in the fight by either fighter & in fact the biggest problem for both appeared to be fatigue. Whatever was the reason for Rampage missing weight, I surmise that was the reason for him looking so fatigued. Now whether it was an injury or it was him trying to cut alot of weight while injured that drained him, he definatly didn't look in the sort of shape he usually is for a fight. Considering how Bader looks physically, his stamina didn't impress me either, he was fortunate Rampage was even worse off stamina wise because he looked like he was struggling also. In saying that though Bader took a fairly comfortable grinding win, bar him being wobbled in the 2nd by Rampage slamming him on his head & the brief onslaught that followed Bader was throwing & then moving well. I'd love to see a rematch between these two, I think Bader can give more & I definatly think Rampage can give more.. I thought Bader only got Rampage on the ground due to Rampage gassing after he'd tried to capitalise on the slam.

Rampage's next fight should be a rematch with someone, Shogun, Henderson, Griffin, possibly Bader or depending how he does against Jones, Evans.. Shogun/Rampage would make the most sense I feel.

Edgar/Bendo was a great fight. I love watching Edgar fight, hes like a squirrel the way he darts his head & moves about so quickly. He was very unlucky tonight, I did think Bendo won however I thought it was far closer than what 2 of the judges scored it.. it looked like he outlanded Henderson significantly, had more takedowns & dominant positions, however Bendo did more damage with the shots he did land.. very close fight.

As for Edgar's future, I think he should drop to 145. Yes I know he barely lost a decision, however alot of those guys hes fighting with are pushing about 190/200lbs walking around.. Edgar I think walks around at like 160lbs or so most of the time. It's one of the reasons I personally feel, Edgar can punch someone for 5 rounds in the face & look like hes not causing any significant damage, yet someone like Maynard or Henderson can land 1 blow to him that will change the fight. If he was fighting guys that were more his natural weight I think he'd be finishing alot more fights.. and wouldn't look like hes taken a beating with a baseball bat after every fight. Hes capable of regaining the LW title again, however I think hes putting himself at a disadvantage because hes fighting guys that outweigh him so significantly.

Great analysis but no mention of the epic comeback Barbarian had over Okami!? :p

I wasn't expecting that.

I want to see Edgar stay at 155. When you think about it he has one of the best records ever at lightweight, and the fight he just lost was really close. A fight with Also would be cool as hell, but it's not like it's out of the realm of possibility that Frankie could win a couple of fights, get a title shot, then get the belt back.

I can't praise Bendo enough. He's really grown as a fighter before and after that Pettis loss. Before the 5th round when he was hyped as hell about having more than 5 minutes left was amazing! I know that he's going to go crazy in the Pettis rematch. It's going to be insane! I can't wait.

Rampage always has excuses when he lose.

Told you Bader could win. Couldn't believe he survived after that slam:
