Today on his show he was commenting about the Muslim being sworn into Congress on the Koran and said "Its bad enough we are letting the enemy into Congress when we are fighting Muslims but to let him be sworn in on their holy book?"

Wow...I am at a loss for words.

I've never heard of that guy. Is there some factory somewhere that cranks out right-wing nutjobs and gives them their own radio shows? There's far too many of those idiots dumbing-down the airwaves.

:wow:

I don't approve of him being sworn in with a Koran, religion has no place in politics.

well it was either that or the bible- either way religion would be involved

Then I take it you must also be against every other politician being sworn in with the Bible?

Yes, I think they should use a copy of the constition.

That's just not right. By all means let him use the Koran...What's the big deal....?

The big deal is their mixing religion with government.

the standard practice is with a bible.
the talk show host, or the american public in general don't care too much about religion in politics.
as long as it's the RIGHT religion....am I right folks?

I know, using the Bible is wrong.

Seriously, I don't know why this keeps getting blurred...

But if the government says no, then they are infringing on these private citizen's rights to practice religion. Elected officials bring their own bibles to be sworn in on. The government does not provide them.

Yay, someone who makes sense!

On another note: sinewave, not all right-wingers are nutjobs, nor are all nutjobs right-wing. Just as many crazies on the left.

Thata a pretty ****ing rad idea.

The constitution is a piece of paper. There is nothing sacred about it. "If I violate my oath, then umm...I ignored a piece of paper". However, by taking an oath on something holy to these people then the repricutions of violating the oath in their eyes are much larger.

One question...if do Jewish politicians get sworn in with their holy book or the bible

I'm not sure, but isn't it rather moot as the Old Testament of the Christian bible is holy to the Jews?

We get lazy and just throw them an Old testament.

We (the government) doesn't throw them anything. Elected officials sworn in have to bring their own bible/holy book/copy of the constitution/nothing.

Matt (the poster) lost his sense of humor.
